There’s a large and widening gap between

the people we planned for vs. the people

we actually have to design for in the

coming decade.

Over the last 75 years, we’ve created an expectation of (and planned for) rational people but in reality, people are anything but. Designers have done well catering to a generation of people who have a used tech in a linear fashion but what happens after that?

The world of digital is wrestling with tensions brought about by the need to understand and align with a new crowd:The Innovative User.

By examining historical developments influencing and creating the need for user-centered design we can gain a better understanding of its importance and direction in the future and how best to prepare for new set of design challenges brought on by changing expectations.

Brandon SchmittlingBrandon is a UX Designer at Huge Singapore and is responsible for leading projects in the user experience department. As a designer and programmer, Brandon's enthusiasm for web and interactive technologies as tools for digital innovation is supported by his previous work with Free Range Studios, Weber Shandwick, Hirshorn Zuckerman Design Group and WebFirst. Brandon has collaborated with Google, The Gates Foundation, Horangi Cyber Security, USAID, Tides Foundation and ESL Music. He has previously presented at SXSW, guest lectured at AU's Katzen Arts Center and taught at BU's Center for Digital Imaging Arts and General Assembly in Singapore. He lives in Singapore and enjoys contributing to one of the most vibrant creative environments in Asia.
