Volume L December 2017 Number 12 First United Methodist Church, 1610 Prince St., Conway, AR, 72034 The Witness Formal Wear Shopping Day Donations Sought The Missions Committee host the “Free Formal Wear Shopping Day” again this year. The event has been a big success and has grown each year. We have been able to assist many High School girls in Faulkner County who otherwise would not been able to attend Spring Prom or it would have been a finan- cial hardship to acquire a dress. We are reaching out to the membership for dona- tions again, and would love for you to spread the word about our event and the need for donations. The Committee is collecting girls’ high school ap- propriate formal wear dresses (all sizes, short and long) and accessories (shoes, jewelry and purses). Help us to make it a special day for these girls and donate dresses and/or accessories that may be hanging in your closet never to be worn again. We are accepting do- nations NOW and up until the event, which is scheduled for late February. Donations can be brought to Room 107 in the Sanctuary building at any time. In 2017, there were 370 dresses from which the girls could select. The shopping invitation was extended to Conway High School, HAVEN House, Mayflower High School, Vilonia High School and Perryville High School. Teachers and counselors make recommendations for recipients, and the girls receive a personal invitation. Holiday Office Hours The Church Office Will Be Closed Jan. 1 and 2. Regular Worship Schedule will resume on Sunday, Dec. 31 8:45 and 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary 9 a.m. in the Great Hall 10 a.m. Sunday school for all ages Two of our lovely shoppers from the 2017 shopping day.
