Users
MULTIPLE USERS
It is good practice never to share your login
credentials with anyone.
If you need to give someone else access to your
website, you can create a new user.
There are different levels of access that a user can
be assigned.
ACCESS TYPES
Administrator – somebody who has access to all
the administration features within a single site
Editor – somebody who can publish and manage
posts including the posts of other users
Author – somebody who can publish and manage
their own posts
Contributor – somebody who can write and
manage their own posts but cannot publish them

COMMENTS SETTINGS
Decide whether or not you want to allow
comments on your site.
To turn them off completely, untick:
Settings | Discussion | Default article settings |
Allow people to post comments on new articles
You can also enable / disable comments on
individual posts and pages.
COMMENTS SETTINGS
If you enable comments, make sure to change at
least a couple of settings so that you can approve
the comments before they appear on the site:
Settings | Discussion |
Before a comment appears |
An administrator must always approve the
comment
Settings | Discussion | E-mail me whenever | ...
GRAVATARS

You assign an image to an email address. Every
time you then use that email address to log into,
or comment on a WordPress site, that image will
appear next to your name.

WHY HAVE A DOMAIN NAME
Every website has a domain name / URL e.g.
molecularcodewebdesign.com
WordPress.com gives you a free name for your
website e.g. basilisk2001wp.wordpress.com
If you prefer, you can buy (register) different
domain name e.g. mysite.com or myname.com
THROUGH WORDPRESS.COM
$18/yr - you can register a new domain name
through WordPress.com and have them map it to
your existing WordPress.com website.
Store | Domains |
THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE
$13/yr - Or you can buy the domain name from
somewhere else, then have WordPress.com map it
to your WordPress.com website.
