DISASTER RELIEF INTEREST MEETING Thursday, July 16
7 p.m., KBA Mission Center
Our KBA Disaster Relief team has ministered marvelously in recent years, including Iowa tornadoes and
Hurricane Katrina. However, time has taken its toll and many of the current members are not able to wield
chain saws or shovels like they used to. We need a new crop of saints to jump in, get trained and be prepared
to “go on mission” to a natural disaster and give a cup of cold water in Jesus’ name. An interest meeting will
take place on Thursday, July 16 at 7 pm at the Missions Center. We will show some pictures and tell some
stories so you will know just what Disaster Relief is all about and the huge difference it makes to those that are
affected. Randy Creamer, Director of Disaster Relief for the S.C. Baptist Convention will be present to answer
questions.

Churches are needed to help provide weekend sacks of food for
children in our schools who have little to no food to eat on the
weekend. We need churches that are willing to partner with
other churches to provide sacks in our schools, especially
some of our elementary schools. Here are some possibilities:
1. Provide sacks for one week out of the month, rotating the responsibility with other churches. This type of
rotation can also be done in 2 week periods or monthly. The more churches involved, the less times your
church will need to provide during the school year.
2. Join with a church that is willing to do the actual purchasing, preparing and delivery of the sacks and split
the cost of the food items.
3. Choose one or two items from the food list, purchase all that is needed of those items for the month, and
donate it to the church packing the sacks.
4. Hold food drives and donate the food to Sacks of Love. You will need to get a list of approved foods from
the KBA Mission Center.
5. Have fundraisers to raise money for the ministry. You can do this by having a car wash, spaghetti supper,
or even through VBS offerings.
For more information, call Kathy Hall at the mission center, 803-432-3028, or 803-420-1457, nights and
weekends. She is willing to talk with you in the office or by phone, or she will come to the church and talk
about how your church can be involved.

Should the KBA
Media Center Remain?
A number of churches and families use the KBA Media
Center, but your KBA staff must inevitably focus on other
priorities. If you or your church group might like to serve
there and keep it alive, please give us a call! There are many
DVDs available for check-out for children, youth, adults and
family viewing. Bible studies are also available. Call 803-
432-3028 if you or your church group is interested.
