Women, Thoothukudi,
Though, it is true that the level of active
participation and decision making capability of
women in each and every aspect of social and
political life in India has increased leaps and
bounds, yet the overall conditions of women
is not so good.
• The women in Indian media are
depicted generally as painstaking,
religiously intolerant, craving only
for their own family, politically
immature, socially inevitable and
culturally ultra-modern
• To create awakening in women to achieve their potential
as the prime movers of change in society
• There are comparatively fewer articles on
career opportunities, health awareness,
entrepreneurship, legal aid, counselling
services, childcare services and financial
management.
Globalization has confined the whole
world into a “Global-Village”. Presence of
women empowerment should be felt by
the media consumers in every next mass
media with a positive depiction of
women’s image, hence leading to a
reconstructed social construction.
