First year head coach Matt Kelly’s team took game one on the road, 3-1, before returning to Providence and winning game two, 5-3. • Forward Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) lead the offense for the Friars, recording six points on the weekend. The sophomore had a goal and two assists on Friday, before adding two goals and an assist on Saturday. Her efforts were Hockey East Player of the Week honors. Murphy now has eight multi-point games on the year and six of the Friars’ 10 game-winning goals, including five during Providence’s current six-game winning streak. UConn vs. Quinnipiac, vs. Providence/Yale • UConn enters the first round of the Nutmeg Classic at Yale against in-state rival Quinnipiac. UConn is 1-4-0 in its last five, as the Huskies most recently dropped both games of a home and home series with #4 Boston College, losing 3-0 at home and 4-0 on the road. • The Huskies have fared well against non-conference opponents through the first 14 games of the season, posting a 3-1-0 record in that span. Vermont vs. Syracuse, vs. #2 Minnesota/#8 St. Lawrence • Vermont aims to break a five-game winless streak as the Catamounts host Syracuse in the first round of the Windjammer Classic at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The Catamounts return home for their annual tournament after a two-game road trip at Boston University that saw them drop game one, 3-0, before bouncing back to take one point in a 3-3 overtime draw. Sammy Kolowrat (Prague, Czech Republic) had two assists in Saturday’s tie with the Terriers, including dishing out the assist on Eve-Audrey Picard’s (Longueuil, Que.) extra-attacker equalizer with just 1:31 left in regulation. They shutout UConn in back-to-back outings games before taking the first Battle of Comm .Ave from the Terriers, 4-3. Freshman goaltender Maddy McArthur (St. Catherine’s, Ont.) turned away 43 shots over the three games, with 33 of those coming in the two shutouts against the Huskies. She now has four shutouts on the season and earned Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts over the weekend. Maine vs. Dartmouth • Maine skates on home ice for the second weekend in a row, this time facing off with conference opponent Dartmouth. The Black Bears most recently played host to #5 Northeastern, going 0-1-1 in the two games. They dropped game one, 3-1, but skated away from game two with a 3-3 draw. Celine Tedenby (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) and Tereza Vanišová (Strakonice, Czech Republic) each had two points on the weekend. Both skaters recorded an assist on the other’s goal. New Hampshire vs. RPI • New Hampshire snapped a nine-game winless streak last weekend they defeated Holy Cross in their only game over the weekend. The Wildcats defeat- ed the Crusaders, 4-1, on the road thanks to Marie-Jo Pelletier’s (Dalhousie, N.B.) second goal of the season that proved to be the game-winning tally. Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) is on a two-game point streak after netting a goal and adding an assist in the victory. The junior finished Saturday’s win with three shots on goal and a plus-two rating. Boston University at Brown • Boston University returns to action Tuesday night after playing three games over the course of five days last week, going 1-1-1 in that span and earning three points in the Army ROTC Hockey East Standings against Vermont. Jesse Compher (Northbrook, Ill.) racked up seven points (3g, 4a) in the three outings and is currently riding an eight-game point streak (6g, 10a). On the back end, goaltender Corinne Schroeder (Elm Creek, Man.) stopped 78 shots in the three games, including 26 in Friday’s shutout. It marked the first shutout of her college career and her efforts earned her Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week accolades. #5 Northeastern vs. #4 Boston College • #5 Northeastern welcomes Hockey East rival and fellow top-10 team #4 Boston College on Tuesday night to historic Matthews Arena. This marks the two programs’ first meeting since the opening round of last year’s Beanpot, where the Eagles walked away with a 5-2 victory. Chloé Aurard (Villard-de-Lans, France) pushed her point streak to seven games last weekend finding the back of the net three times and dishing out one assist on a weekend that saw the 11-1-2 Huskies go 1-0-1 on the road at Maine. The rookie picked up her first collegiate two-goal game and fifth straight multi-point performance in Saturday’s 3-3 draw. Merrimack vs. HTI Stars (exhibition) • Merrimack’s lone game of the weekend will come in an exhibition match up with the HTI Stars. The Warriors most recently went 1-2-0 last week, dropping two Hockey East match ups against #9 Providence before shutting out non-conference opponent Quinnipiac, 2-0 on Tuesday. • Junior goaltender Léa-Kristine Demers (Repentigny, Que.) made her second start of the season Tuesday against the Bobcats, turning away 30 shot attempts en route to earning the first shutout of her college career.
