Flashmobs are most known, at seemingly spontaneous, but meticu- lously planned art happenings for no commercial purpose, in public places which appear and disappear as though spontaneous but are not. In this case, Ethel had been tipped off and she had okayed the “mob,” and the one-minute sing turned into more than that with press showing up, including NY1, and local blogs, who ran videos of the event, cham- pagne, and homemade cards from local children. Few local infants have not received a hand-knitted wool hat from Ethel, who adores chil- dren. Neighbor Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer showed up to sing as one of the crowd, which was very nice. He has already bestowed hon- ors on community volunteer Ethel in prior years. Rabbi Lerman, Chumi and their four children also attended. By the time we arrived at Queenof Angels the crowd had againswelled to over 350 people. Theprogram continued with each of thepastors taking turns doing a read-ing. The beautiful voice of NicolleBirtingmeyer led the group in Joy tothe World, plus 3 more ChristmasCarols. The last song was SilentNight.
