A message from the Principal Class Team…
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
Welcome back to term three. Although it has been a very cold and chilly start to the term, we warmly welcome our new students and families to Woodville Primary School. We hope that you settle in quickly and feel welcomed in your classrooms.
Parent Teacher Interviews will be held next Monday 29th July from 2pm to 7pm. Parent/Teacher interviews give you and your child’s teacher time to discuss your child’s academic and social progress over the past semester. We ask that Student portfolios are returned to school this week, as they will be used in discussion during the interviews.
Congratulations to our senior girls T’ball team who were awarded the Regional Champions flag at the Regional T’ball finals in Williamstown last Tuesday. Commiserations to the senior boys T’ball team whom despite playing gallantly until the last ball, did not make it through to the state finals. Both teams demonstrated our core values of respect, responsibility, resilience and inclusion, and demonstrated sportsmanship both on and off the T’ball diamond. You have certainly made Woodville proud!
As the winter chill sets in it is timely to remind you to ensure that your child/children wear warm, appropriate clothing to school. We have noticed an increase in the number of students who are coming to school in the incorrect school uniform: black pants/shorts; coloured long-sleeved t-shirt underneath school t-shirt; coloured tights/leggings, coloured jumpers and hoodies. We ask that all families read the School Dress Code, which can be found on the final page of this newsletter.

Prep News
1/2 Team News Students in year one and two have been writing recounts for the past couple of weeks. We have been focussing on writing a ‘sizzling start’, making sure that all events are in correct order, and checking writing for mistakes/editing to make sure it makes sense. It has been fantastic to read about all of the fun things the students got up to on their school holidays! Here are some of the great recount starts made by students in Year 2:
“Yay!” Finally, I was going to watch ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’. – Karissa R.
Cool. I got the first goal for my team. – Jai L.
Finally, we are going to the movies, I am so excited. – Issam A.
Woohoo! The holidays were crazy. – Miles T.
Boom! I shot the ball to the end of the field. – Anant M. Keep up the great work 1/2’s!

Community Helpers
Over the next few weeks, our Prep students will be learning about
the community that we live in.
We will be looking at different community services that help us in
the community.
Over the next three weeks, we will be having a visit from the police
on the 24th of July, the RACV on the 1st of August and the fire
brigade on the 6th of August.
If you have any shoe boxes at home that you no longer need could you please give them to
your child to pass on to their teacher. We will be using them in a few weeks to make a diorama.
We will celebrate the 100 Days of school on Tuesday the 30th of July.
Please remember to dress up with anything related to the number 100.

English as an Additional Language
The Grade 1 and 2 EAL students have been practising their speaking and listening skills by performing in ‘The Three Little Pigs’ play. They enjoyed making their own masks and performing in the play as it was video recorded. After viewing the video, the students were then given the opportunity to give feedback on their performance, focusing on their speaking and their actions. Ms Liz Lange EAL Teacher

Year 4 Doxa Camp
The year four students of Woodville Primary School went to the Doxa Malmsbury camp last week. There were loads of activities to enjoy and participate in. All the year four teachers went on the camp, as well as Mr Micallef and Mr McBride. The staff at Doxa were very protective and kind. They would listen to every question and statement we had. The campers had different opinions about the different camp activities. The Giant Swing requires strength and bravery. The Rock Climbing was fun and really cool. It was an awesome experience to climb the wall with a friend. We played in the Gaga pit, bounced on trampolines and went bush walking. For breakfast, we had the choice of cereal, toast and juice. For lunch, we had pasta with garlic bread, and a barbeque. For dinner, we had honey-soy chicken with Singapore rice. The camp chefs made amazing dishes for us to eat. Many kids scoffed down their food. In our rooms, there were two bunk beds. After we left camp, we hopped on a bus to take us to the train station and then home. Written by Annabella M 4B
