@TobWorcs
Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership is proud to be bringing this year’s Friends Life Tour of Britain to Worcestershire, with the support of our partners and sponsors.
I do hope you will ‘get behind the Tour’ and join in with the celebrations.
From 8:30am on Wednesday 10th September you can meet the teams and their riders at the Tour start point by The Hive and we have organised an ‘event village’ featuring exhibitors and cycling related activities. The excitement will be carried into the City Centre where Worcestershire County Cricket Club and the Local Sports Partnership are organising a number of activities.
You can also support the many events and celebrations that have been organised by the District Councils in Wychavon and Malvern Hills. Please see the relevant pages within this booklet for further information.
With anticipated international TV coverage in excess of 1 million viewers on ITV4 and 1.5 million on the Eurosport channel, this is our opportunity to show the world what Worcestershire has to offer.
Our over-riding objective in bringing the Tour to Worcestershire is to encourage more tourists to visit the county and more business people to see the advantages of investing here. By doing so, we will be supporting and creating more jobs and bringing more money into the local economy.
Here’s to a great Tour and a special day for Worcestershire!

What’s happening in Pershore & Evesham
Pershore
Wood Norton
BroadwayEveshamThe quintessential Georgian town of Pershore is no stranger to large scale events. Over the August Bank Holiday the town welcomed thousands of visitors to its streets for its annual and incredibly popular Plum Festival.
Today Pershore is dressing the streets with bunting and in Chapman Court you will find a bike made entirely from willow. Health trainers are on hand to help inspire visitors to get more active and to eat well. There will also be street entertainment.
Local schools are also expected to line the route and Pershore High School is running a yellow jersey day and a number of other activities to raise money for charity.
The first feed zone of the day for riders and only one within Worcestershire will be after 50km near to Wood Norton on the A44.
The beautiful chocolate box village of Broadway will be anything but peaceful today. Prior to the race local businesses and groups will compete against each other in creating and racing their own box carts as well as luge racing.
Two hilarious stilted entertainers on over sized bikes will be keeping the crowd entertained and health trainers will be available to carry out health checks.
Hoopla, hook a duck and other activities will take place in the large marquee area and a cycling procession from local school children is planned.
Presiding over the village, Broadway Tower will be decorated in a yellow jersey and traders will be getting into the spirit of the event by decorating their shop windows and offering live music.
For more info visit : rileyandthomas.co.uk/tour-britain-bike-race
Evesham is home to the cycling group the Evesham Wheelers who meet weekly in the town to start their rides for all abilities.
Last weekend saw the start of the first Cyclefest, a festival to truly celebrate pedal power and raise money for Evesham’s Bell Tower. The event runs over the course of three weekends and more is available here www.eveshambelltower.org.uk
Today Honeybourne Bicycle Users Group (H-BUG) will be at the event running a pre-school slalom in Market Square as well as a tandem event for the visually impaired.
There is also a short ride for school children on the High Street which will see them pass under the YodelDirect Sprint finish arch. Other activities in the town are street entertainers, health trainers and a smoothie bike – keeping the crowds entertained until the pro cyclists arrive.
What’s happening in Broadway
