Introducing our U.S. PR and Marketing team

Andie Riedel, US PR Manager

The token Canadian on the team, Andie is the US PR Manager – working across all of Cotton On Group’s brands – and all the time zones. Andie’s passion for PR and love of palm trees led her to Los Angeles, where over the years she made California her home.

She spends her weekends road tripping to the desert, zenning out at yoga and is never one to shy away from a green juice.

She loves a good phone call so feel free to drop her a line regarding PR requests, or just to chat! She’s really keen on absorbing all Aussie terms and reckons she’s close to finding the best flat white in Los Angeles.

Bonnie Cook, US Social Media Manager

An aficionado of all things pop culture/current events, reach out to Bonnie, our Social Media Manager, if you’re looking to have a conversation about anything from the cultural significance of every Beyoncé album, to current political affairs (if it trended on Twitter, she knows about it).  When not in the office, you can find her taking pictures of her brunch, the beach, and palm trees, like everyone else in Los Angeles. Don’t hesitate to ask her for tips and tricks on using FaceTune or choosing the right filter.

Anthony Gardner, US Marketing Manager

Anthony leads the team as our Head of Marketing and ECommerce. A native west coaster, he recently joined Cotton On Group, and is soon coming over from the east coast to head up PR, Social Media and so much more in the US. 

Anthony makes a point to attend as many concerts as possible, and always has a playlist of today’s hits and yesterday’s classics on hand. A kid at heart, he loves his pop singers and movie stars. He’s a huge sports fan -  his teams are the Giants, Warriors and 49ers. #Hemlines2half times is his motto!

When at home he stays busy with Dallas and Francie, his beautiful feline family, and is excited to move home to LA.

Celebrating 25 Years of Cotton On

Three years earlier at the age of just 18, he decided to embark on a new adventure and armed with a pile of acid wash denim jackets, headed to a local market in Geelong, Australia to set up shop.

Although customers seemed to love the jackets, they weren’t selling and he left that

day without making a single sale. Undeterred, he went back to the drawing board -

returning the next week with a new direction, a reduced price and suddenly, a sold out

product on his hands.

From these humble beginnings Cotton On was born and in 1991, the first store

opened its doors in the town where it all started, Geelong.

Fast forward 25 years and Cotton On is now a truly global fashion and lifestyle brand,

with stores across 17 different locations all over the world.

We carry the passion, optimism and entrepreneurial spirit from our early beginnings

with us in everything we do, inspiring and empowering people to make a positive

impact on the world and those around them every day.

Here are the top ten desk tips for getting creative juices flowing, brought to you by those super creative folk in the Typo Head Office.

1. Bring the outdoors in. Having something alive, green or reminiscent of the outside world increases focus and encourages you to get on with the job at hand, so add a touch of greenery to your workspace. If you are like us and have a lacklustre green thumb, grab yourself some faux planters.

2. Include a view. Staring off wistfully into the distance every now and then is a great break for your eyes but if you’re not residing in the most picturesque of locations, adding wall art with images or words of inspiration is sure to do the trick!

3. Pick your paradise. Get ready to be whisked off to a tropical oasis by adding a calming scent to the air with candles. A sure fire way to rid your workspace of any musty or brain clogging air.

4. Get in the zone. Don’t forget to have a pair of headphones handy, the right sounds can block out distractions, relax your mind and get you pumped to fly through your ‘get shit done’ list.

5. Avoid the dried prune. Make sure you stay hydrated by having your drink bottle handy throughout the day and for an extra twist try adding some lime and mint.

6. Put it on paper. Sometimes the best ideas come tumbling out at the most random of times; capture these ideas by having a notebook handy to jot them down.

7. Get sh*t done. Starting each day with a Get Sh*t Done list not only keeps you on track and organised but it feels so good to cross tasks off.

8. Set the mood. Nothing beats natural light but for those of us who don’t always have this luxury, make sure your creation station is well lit. It is not only key for brightening up a dull space, but good for your eyes too.

9. Use your hands. Have something tactile lying around for a bit of digital detox. Whether it’s a colouring book or a lightbox to spell out your favourite message, it gets your brain thinking in a different direction and gives you a break from your screen.

10. Climate control. Maintain the ultimate temperature by keeping a throw or blanket close by so you can stay cosy and warm as the days get cooler.

Meaghan Kendall is the Cotton On KIDS Trend Director. The talented KIDS team member and mother of three knows it all about the needs of kids (and of course moms and dads!) when it comes to kids fashion. Meaghan admits her two daughters love the pops of

TIM IS ThE gENERAl MANAgER OF ThE COTTON ON FOUNDATION AND WAS ENgAgED BY ThE glOBAl RETAIlER, COTTON ON gROUP IN 2006 TO COMMENCE WORK ON ThE PhIlANThROPIC ARM OF ThE BUSINESS.

In November 2007, Tim formed a partnership with Mannya Village, Uganda which lead to the official registration of the Cotton On Foundation as a charity organization.

The Cotton On Foundation’s aim is to ‘empower youth’ and to deliver projects based on the UN’s Millennium Development Goals, to date they have almost 4,000 children in school across Southern Uganda, focusing on their 4-pillar approach of Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure and Sustainability.

Over the past seven years the philanthropic organization has grown from generating US$150,000 p.a. to now an International NGO generating over US$10 million in funds per year.

In February 2013, Tim personally met with Ugandan President Museveni, and his cabinet in Mannya Village, Uganda. There, the President agreed to support ongoing efforts of the Ugandan Cotton On Foundation NGO. This was a major boost for the long-term sustainability of Cotton On Foundation projects in remote areas of Uganda.

The Cotton On Foundation mission came to a peak in September 2013, where Tim addressed on stage, in front of 60,000 attendees and 22 million viewers at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City their aim of ‘establishing 20,000 educational places in Southern Uganda by 2020.’

Cotton On Foundation is the charity arm of the Cotton On Group, selling everyday products in all stores globally, across eight brands. 100% of proceeds from the sale of Foundation products support Cotton On Foundation’s projects.
