“Work For Dues” Program

A proposal for District 1 Kin to reduce dues payments for

members

AttendanceEach meeting or social you attend will create a credit of $X

• 10 meetings a year and 5 socials would = $ X

• It would also include attendance to National, District or Zone functions and conventions

Project Workfor every hour you work you will get a credit of $ X

• 2 – 5 hours shifts would work out to equal $X.

• Being Chair or Co-Chair could increase the credit value.

Executive & Committee Chairs

• Member who sit on the executive of the club will get a credit of $X.

• Members must be in good standing at the time dues are owed.

- Q. Who keeps track of the “Work for Dues” credits that are accumulated?

- A. The registrar will keep track of meetings attended and members should keep the registrar up to date on other KIN meetings or functions attended.

- Committee chairs will report to the registrar the number of hours and by whom for that committee.

- Q. What happens if there is not enough funds in the account to pay for dues for those members at the time of dues payments.

- A. The treasurer, registrar and president of the executive must ensure due diligence is observed to let the membership know of this eventuality.

• Q. Do we have to participate in this program?• A. No, but the registrar will still track your numbers for awards anyways.• Q. Can we use this credits in other ways?• A. These credits could be put forward to Kin Sales or other items that

would be beneficial to the club. This is only meant as a broad outline for clubs to have a discussion and let them find out what works for them.

• Q. Can we find sponsors for our dues?• A. Yes, sometimes employers have programs whereby they donate money

if an employee volunteers time. Sometimes it’s a registered charity and sometimes it is to the actual place they volunteer. If you can find a company to donate your dues or some money to the general account, why not do it?

Summary

This is just a proposal for clubs to start working on a program to help offset dues. Each club should decide for themselves what works best for their club and proceed with that plan of action. They might decide to incorporate “shop and support” or some other member benefit program to offset the cost of dues. This is only designed to get clubs into a discussion of what’s in the best interest of

the club.
