C “The use of enhanced materials and textiles in con-

junction with current research in nanotechnologies,

biotechnologies, and digital technologies will lead us to

a fashionable wearable that is true integration of essen-

tial function and aesthetic design.” (Braddock, 2009: 21)

Inspired by the texture of the grip surfaces en-

countered on boats and the techniques used, such as bond-ing and sealing. Lead to experimentation and the

technique of silicone coating has been developed to

emulate these textures on both woven and non woven fabrics.

The use of technological plastics fabrics is also fundamental to my

collection . i plan on using up to date fabrics . This has been inspired by 60s

designers like COurrèges and contemporary brands such as burb-

erry, louis vuitton, nike and matthew miller. But also the 60s product de-

signers such as verneer pantone who used plastics for the first

time on a consumable and functional level in everyday objects

tailoringi have decided to not use tai-lored jackets as i feel for such a small collection it does not fit into the feel of what i am trying to create as a functional but elegant collection even with the addition of hardwear. i feel these are details that would be stronger on fully functional outerwear garments such as parkers and raincoats.
