UVU is the largest employer in the city of Orem and Utah County, and the eighth largest employer in the state of Utah. UVU’s workforce of 4,881 employees includes 1,721 full -time and 3,160 part time individuals. In 2015, UVU employed 590 full-time faculty, 978 part- time faculty, 1,099 full-time staff, 808 part-time staff, 32 administrators, and 1,325 students. More than 80% of UVU’s $206 appropriated budget is spent on salaries and employee benefits. UVU indirectly supports an additional 6,399 jobs in its service region. Utah Valley University

Utah Valley University is located 30 minutes south of Salt

Lake City in Orem, Utah. UVU is the largest employer in

the city of Orem and Utah County, and the eighth largest

employer in the state of Utah.

UVU’s workforce of 4,881 employees includes 1,721 full

Living in Utah

scapes and recreational opportunities. With five national

parks, 14 ski resorts and several large lakes there is truly

something for everyone.

Utah Valley has four distinct seasons, winter, spring, sum-

mer and fall, with a moderate climate ranging from about

30°F-90°F. Mountainous areas maintain temperatures

about 20 degrees cooler.

Many faculty, staff and students chose UVU for its ideal lo-

cation. The university is located in Orem, Utah, about 45

miles south of Salt Lake City. Within 20 miles, students,

faculty, and staff can enjoy winter sports, hiking, mountain

biking, water recreation, museums, performing arts festi-

vals, and much more!

National Parks

Utah is home to five national parks and is known as Amer-

ica’s national park capital. Arches, Bryce Canyon, Can-

yonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion National Parks draw ad-

venturers and outdoor fanatics from around the world to

their deep canyons, sheer cliffs, natural arches and bridg-

es, hikes and breath-taking scenery

Ski Resorts

Utah is known to have “the greatest snow on earth.” With

14 world-class ski resorts, Utah does not disappoint. 11

of the 14 resorts are within an hour of Salt Lake Interna-

tional airport. Each provides fantastic lodging options,

fine dining, rental and ski/snowboard classes. Whether an

expert or novice skier, Utah has slopes that are sure to

provide a thrilling experience.

Arts and Entertainment

Utah has a variety of venues for arts and entertainment.

Several museums are scattered throughout Utah Valley,

catering to hunters and artist alike. Arts festivals are held

annually throughout the state. The Sundance Film Festival

is the most prominent, drawing filmmakers, directors, and

celebrities from around the world

Live theatre and performances are strongly represented

throughout the state. Off-Broadway shows are presented

in various locations, with Tuacahn Amphitheatre in St.

George, Utah, and Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake, hosting

Broadway Across America frequently throughout the year.

The Utah Opera and Ballet West also attract large audi-

ences during their performing seasons.
