Situated in front of an hedge of Liriodendron Tulipifera Fastigiatumn (tulip tree), this project for a new bus stop, works as
a new interpretation of the primitiv shelter: the tree.
According to the site - a long and narrow stripe - the tree becomes a morphological and structural aspect for the project. More than a protection for the users, the bus stop is a real experience, dealing with light and shadows, putting an impulse
into the stripe.

PROGRAMMERehabilitation of the Castle Borl
SITUATION Castle Borl
Ptuj - Slovenia
MBVCMonolithic Borl Viticultur Center
This competition takes place inside an international workshop organised by Chalmers in Slovenia. Then, the topic of this «one week» project was to work with contemporary challenges regarding to the rehabilitation of an old castle. As a lot of rehabilita-
tiuons projects, estates themself - especially in Slovenia - cannot handle a program like that and need private investments.
Slovenia and more especially the area around the castle has a strong past and present production of wine. Then, using the castle as a new winery is the way to input new founds and new activities as a new start. However, a winery needs such a big space and special considerations regarding to the activities it brings in. Two new contemporary «monoliths» are created to carry all the new programs’spaces and emphasise the original oldness beauty of the castle . They also works as a part of the castle’s
history in the way they continue the aggregation process which defines the castle itself.

DEALING WITH THE LIMITS Beyond the border
The «Festival des Cabanes» (Huts Festival) takes place in Schengen every two years in order to celabrate the famous agrement signed 27th years ago in this little town stuck between Germany and France. Furthermore, every Festival’s competition is organized around a
thematic. From all over Europe, students come and submit their project, trying to fit in the subject.
«Beyond the border» : that was the 2010 edition’s thematic. Situated next to a lake and sorounded by tall grass and vegetation, our project is mostly about framing the landscape and allowing people to see throught, even beyond this natural border. Designed as a
perfect square, the project want to guide the users throught different situation ; gradually raising their view from the ground to the top .

THE FROZEN RIVERA new Naturum in Göteborg
Göta älv is a powerful symbol of göteborg’s social livelihood and historic fortification. “The frozen river” unites the river with the city through architectural narrative and interactive public space.
The southern stone building represents the solidarity of göteborg city, While the adjacent cantilevered form embodies göta älv’s lasting effect,
where fragments of driftwood have washed over the ‘city’ and become ‘‘frozen’.’ Göteborg naturum is a place for everyone to stop,
and interact with this symbiotic collision.

PROGRAMMEPermanent connection from the hill down to the river
A five years fashion incubator
SITUATION Inom Vallgraven
Göteborg - Sweden
ALONG THE STAIRCASEA Fashion Incubator in Göteborg
This project is driven by two different aspects. The first one is to integrate the building as an urban connection. Situated right in the alignement of «Skansen Krona», the «Feskekörka», a new birdge project and the bottom of the «Vallgraven» hill, this project shows a
deep complexity in matter to integrate those different urban situations inside an «urban leftover parcelar». Consequently, the first part of the project is to design a pernament acces form the hill down to the river. More than just a strairway, the
project uses this urban connection as a real urban space allowing life, activities and different program to take place in.
The second part of the project is the five years fashion incubator. Designed to be non permanent, the project is pluged on the oversized staircase’s structure. Then, the project focuses on the relation between the staircase’s space and the fashion incubator itself : the way they
can compose an internal space where both the users would be able to live together. An internal space that becomes an astmosphere during five years : public and private levels, a semi-transparent skin, views and programs.

TACTIL TRANSITION
WORKSHOP PROJECT Autumm semester 2011

with Jordi Ponomareff, Isak Regnström and Matias Gotter
PROGRAMMENew Bridge over the Central Station
SITUATION Central Station
Göteborg - Sweden
TACTIL TRANSITIONA new bridge over the Central Station of Göteborg
The point of departure in designing the bridge is the relation between the tactility of surfaces and the perception of space. The viaduct consists of two layers, one for cars and bicycles and one for pedestrians. The layers are connected by a truss which acts as the vertical load bearing structure for the whole bridge. The
pedestrian layer covers the road below to create a green urban promenade in the heart of Gothenburg.
By doing this, we create patterns and volumes that define the urban space. It is a language spoken by grass, wood, stone, concrete, asphalt, steel and the void. The void connects the surfaces of different levels, such as the level for the cars and the levels of the people, to create an urban envirionment.

CITY ON REEDSHow many Times
More than a project investigating the urban potential of the Gullbergsvass area, the Mater Space Structure’s student project «City on Reeds» leans on a strong background works and proposals. Each part of the final project is inspired by differents aims and issues stablished during the
first part of the fall semester. In fact, the two different workshops and the PECHA-KUCHA work as a «synopsis» for the final project City on Reeds (Cf Tatcil Transition and movie Bounds).
BOUNDS - TRANSITION - PUBLIC SPACES
Those are the differents aspects of this background, able to inspire the final project. This is the point of departure of this complex urban context dealing with the ecological and social apsect on an urban transformation. The final project of the fall semester, calls HOW MANY TIMES?,
introduce the timeline into the process of urban transorfamtion. Using the background work, this urban proposal for the new Gullbergsvass area try to integrate the timeline as a specific approach connected to sustainability and social aspects.
What does building new areas, new places, new buildings mean for the purpose of sustainability?

URBAN CENTER IN LYON

PROGRAMMECultural center in Lyon - 2500 square meters
Library - Exposition & Concert Hall - Music study rooms - Public Square
SITUATION Vaulx en Velin, suburbs of Lyon - France
URBAN CENTER IN LYON This urban center takes place into a large urban project made during the autumm semester (cf the following project). The main issue of this project was to
deal with the implantation site: a large mineral topographic square. How integrate a building with a programme not large enough to compose with the huge scale of the square (around 7% of the surface of the square).
An half-buried project was choosen, highlighting in the same time the dynamism of the mineral square and the spatial aspect of the projetc. Organized around a public space, all the different programmes of the project are buried, catching light with larges stepwells, using water miror and vegetal plants to add
atmospheres qualities.
The library, main space of the building, is the only one at the ground level. As the main entrance of the project, the library dynamises the space, focusing the users and the interest for the building. Floating in the air without any posts, this black stone monolith focussed, also, all the different architectural issues of this
project: space, light, materiality and structure (modelized and tested with the engineering software Multi Frame)

‘‘BLEU AFFICHE’’- Urban poject in Vaulx en Velin-
The title of this project «Bleu Affiché» remains quite difficult to translate correclty. In a way, that is the promotion of the Blue, the water as the main actor of this new urban plan for the city of Vaulx en Velin. The site is actually an old indutrial aera at the entrance of the city of Vaulx en Velin (at the end of the aera of Lyon in itself. Deserted during 15 years and devastated by an urban industrial zooning, the last quality of this site was the canal wich sorounds the aera
and the water quality of the ground.
Consequently, the whole urban project ( from the large scale to the urban details) is focussed around this issues: the water as an impluse.

HOUSING AT CROIX ROUSSE - Transversality -
Working at Croix Rousse, the oldest and historical area of Lyon means a plenty of things: history, urban context, users’ behaviors and cultures. But the relation to the light, and in particular with the facade, remains the most important aspect of this old and dense neighborhood of Lyon built on the main hill.
Historically lived by the weavers, the different building mixed housing and working. Consequenlty, the historical typology focussed to the large appartments with large windows, using the transervality of the building between narrow streets and larger courtyards.
Consequently, this project, tries to re-interprete this original typologie, using this transversality through the space concept but also as a new way of thinking an housing building.
