Single Mode Fiber 9/125Single mode fibers uses a core diameter of between 8-10µm the
narrow core diameter causes the light to travels in a single path. Single
mode fibers are more efficient and are used in high rate and on long
applications.
Standard SM fiber is optically designed to optimally operate on
1310nm, in this wavelength no dispersion occurs.
Single mode fiber operating on a wavelength 1310nm will have an
optical loss of 0.4dB/km, when operating on 1550nm the loss will be
0.25dB/km.

Optical connectors
FOXCOM Uses “SC”, the “FC” the E2000 and the LC.
PC: physical contact or polished connector, For Data units.
APC - Angled Physical Contact, describes a 6-8 degrees angle at
the tip of the connector. For all RF units.
The angel help reducing the optical reflection (optical return loss)
making the connector suitable for RF modulation
Example: FC-APC, SC-PC
Foxcom Model Number PL7220-FC

Iridium Satellite Phone Connectivity
Repeaters For Satellite Phone and GPS
The Challenge
In places where there is no terrestrial infrastructure,
satellite phones fill the gap. Typically, this requires
line-of-sight to a satellite.
What happens when the sat phone user needs
connectivity underground or indoors, and stepping
outside to make the call is not an option?
Proprietary Information I 60
The Solution
Foxcom’s pioneering RF over Fiber
solution is a cost effective alternative
to coax cable. It provides seamless
indoor coverage by connecting
passive outdoor antennas with indoor
repeaters, modems and handsets.
The fiber link enables Iridium satellite
handset users to make multiple and
concurrent calls within any size
building or underground facility.
Bi-directional L-band signals are
converted into optics indoors and
outdoors allowing for antenna
extension of more 6 km.
What’s included in the kit?
2 x Iridium ant
2 x Ceiling mount Ant
