WORLD OSTEOPOROSIS DAYOverview

• Largest global awareness campaign on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis

• Celebrated on October 20, with events typically held throughout October

• Targets public/patients, HCPs, media & policy makers

• Activities organized by national patient and medical societies worldwide

• IOF provides taglines, resources and a global platform for activities, to be freely used and adapted by CNS

2021 TAGLINE:

”Take Action for Bone Health”➢ World Osteoporosis Day 2021 will focus on the need to take

action for osteoporosis and fracture prevention

➢ We will engage with key stakeholders including the public, patients, policy makers, hospital to raise awareness and drive action.

➢ The campaign will call on the public and patients to take action for their bone health, to ultimately reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures at all stages of life.

CNS GRANT• IOF will support digital campaigns with active use of social media channels to communicate to the

public/patients actions which can promote good bone health and prevent fragility fractures.

• IOF encourages CNS members to redirect to the Risk Check (available in 36 languages) or raise awareness of key messages such as the need for testing, adherence to treatment, bone-healthy nutrition and lifestyle.

• ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

➢ CNS Full members

• DIGITAL CAMPAIGN CRITERIA

➢ A social media campaign with key prevention messages, or links to the Risk Check, which includes paid promotions online, or ‘boosted’ posts through your social media channels to help reach a larger target audience

➢ IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS

➢ Redirect to the Risk Check (available in 36 languages) or raise awareness of key messages such as the need for testing, adherence to treatment, bone-healthy nutrition and lifestyle.

➢ The creation of a new informational video, which would be disseminated via your organization’s social media accounts and website

➢ Holding a virtual public session/Q&A with experts, with invitations disseminated via your organization’s social media accounts

➢ Campaign/posts using any IOF existing resources (translated into your language with your logo and contact)

CNS GRANT DETAILS

Call for application –June 28th 2021

Deadline Grant application – July 31st

2021

World Osteoporosis Day – October 20th 2021

• Call for application – June 28th, 2021

• Application form must be submitted by July 31st, 2021 and describe the digital campaign in detail

• Grants will be allocated to the best digital campaign proposals from the 5 regions

• 500 Swiss Francs per grant

• Aim: advocate for patient’s rights (diagnosis, care, voice and support) – take action for a world without fragility fractures

• WOD is an ideal occasion to draw attention to the burden of osteoporosis through the IOF Global Patient Charter

✓ Circulate petition at your event

✓ Include link to Risk Check and the Global Patient Charter in your digital campaign

• For in-person events use tablets and computers to invite the public to:
