Overview
Through Publishers , the site administrator(s) can manage the Producer’s users. Administrators
can determine what functionality publishers can edit and publish to the Web site. When you are
adding new publishers, you must assign a unique login name and password to them.
Getting Started
1. Hold your mouse over Admin .
2. Select Publishers .
3. Click Add New .
� Only Administrators (see user types below) can add new Publishers and manage the
site’s current Publishers.
Add Member
WorldNow Producer users can be a Publisher and/or a Byline user and/or an Email Publisher .
Mark the appropriate checkboxes based on the user’s role and responsibilities.
Publisher, Byline & Email Publisher options
Publisher : Publishers have access to managing content in the Producer. See User Type below
for permission levels.
If Publisher is unchecked, Byline will be checked by default.
Byline : Bylines will be available to be given a Byline credit on the Story and Clip Edit pages.
� For Byline only, the Login Name and Password fields are not included and the Email
Address is not required.
Email Publisher : Email Publishers may file their stories directly into Producer via email sent from
a mobile device.

� Stories must be filed via the mobile device which is linked to the staffer’s station email
account. The story MUST be sent via the station email server and the sender’s
authorized email address. For more, see the help doc for Email Publishing.
Login Information
Enter the following user information (all fields are required).
� This section will not display if only Byline is checked for under Add Member .

� Login names are unique to the entire WorldNow network. If the login name already exists,
you will be prompted to select another login name for the publisher.
Password
Verify Password
� Passwords must be six to ten characters and contain at least one non-alpha character.
� For security reasons, publishers will be prompted to change their password every four
weeks, unless the “No expiration” checkbox has been enabled.
Live Site Edit
Administrators provide publishers access to the Edit Dock login using the Live Site Edit section of
the Publisher page in Producer. In this field, enter the Publisher’s valid Member Center email
address. Once the entry has been saved, the Publisher account will be linked to that email
address, allowing the user to access Edit Mode via logging into the live site.

Status
Select the appropriate status for the Publisher.
User Type
Choose a User Type. User Type determines the functionality a publisher will have access to. The
publisher levels are:
Administrator
Manager
Editor
Producer
Contributor
Users who can create content may not necessarily be able to assign content to the live Web site
or Video Player (this is discussed in the section on Security ).

Producer configuration, not every feature may be available.

Multi-Site Access
Administrators can be granted access to log into other Producer using their same login and
password. Access is granted based on sites available for content sharing. Once access is given,
Multi-Site Access (MSA) Publishers can navigate between Producers using the drop-down in
the top right corner of the Producer.

� Please contact your WorldNow Client Services Manager to enable Multi-Site Access for
any Administrator.
Feature Access
Set your permission level for publishers using Feature Access . See below for detailed
information on each access level.

Utility Blocks
(Managers only)
Select this option to enable the publisher to have access to create, edit and manage Utility Blocks . This option is only available for Managers. All Administrators automatically have access to Utility Blocks. All other permissions cannot be granted access to Utility Blocks.
Weather
Select this option to allow the publisher to update the current forecast, extended forecast and enable automated forecasts. Enabling Weather for an Editor also gives publishers access to send Direct E-mails .
Managed Controlled
Categories
(Administrators only)
All administrators have access to Controlled Categories by default. If the administrator chooses to limit their access to Controlled Categories , the Managed Controlled Categories checkbox should be selected. This option is for Administrator who prefer to limit access to streamline their workflow.

Controlled Categories
Controlled Categories enable you to determine which categories the Publisher has access, and
can edit and assign content.
Administrators are granted access to all Controlled Categories automatically, unless the
Manage Controlled Categories checkbox under Feature Access is selected.
� Administrators create Controlled Categories by selecting Mark as Controlled
Category? when creating or editing a Category .
� Please see the guide on Categories for a more detailed description on creating and
editing categories.
All other permission levels must be granted access to all categories that they should have access
to edit and assign content. A list of Controlled Categories appears in the box on the left, listed
alphabetically by Category Name .
To give a publisher access to one or more Categorie s:
1. Click on the Categories in the left box and select Add>> . The Categories move to the
box on the right.
2. To give publishers access to all Categories, click Add All .
To remove a publisher’s access to one or more categ ories:
1. Click on the Category Name in the right box and select Remove>> .
2. To revoke a publisher’s access to all categories, select Remove All .

� Tip : To choose multiple Categories at once, press the CTRL key and select or deselect
as many Categories as desired. Please see the guide on Categories for a more
detailed description of creating and editing categories.
� Tip : One or more Publishers can be given access to a Category simultaneously within
the Security section of a new or existing Category . Please see the guide on Categories
for a more detailed description of creating and editing categories.
Controlled Categories
Save Options
Select a Save option from the Action drop-down, and click Go. Please see the guide on Save,
Assign and Format for detailed instructions on saving.
Save: Save any changes you’ve made to an item and continue editing.
Save and Create New Publisher : Save any changes you’ve made and create a new Publisher.
Save and Finish : Save any changes you’ve made to a Publisher and go to the List All
Publishers page.

Audit Trail
Audit Trail displays information about the user who created the publisher, as well as the date and
time the publisher page was last updated. The Audit Trail information appears once a user
creates the publisher.
Publisher Listing Page
The Publisher Listing Page lists all members of your site – Publishers and Byline.
Publisher Listing Page
The listing page contains the following information:
• Member/Title : First Name Last Name, Title
• Status : Active or Inactive
• Role : Displays the members Producer role. If they have been granted Multi-Site Access, you
will see (MSA) after the role.
• Byline : Displays a rolling 30 day count of the number of Byline credits that the user has. If
N/A is shown, the member does not have Byline enabled.
� Each column is sortable by clicking on the header.
