ATTENTION MISSION TEAM: PUMPKIN PATCH TIME
During the month of October the Youth Group hosts our annual Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser. As in years past, the revenue collected from this event provides a large portion of the funding needed for our yearly youth mission trip, and we are asking that anyone who plans on attending this year’s trip provides support in three ways: 1. Pray 2. We need all youth, leaders, and parents to meet at 8:45am on Saturday Octo-
ber 4th at the Pumpkin Patch to help unload our pumpkin delivery and set up the patch for this year’s sale.
3. There is a calendar sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board outside the Wes-ley Room or you can sign up on our website. Each Student that will be a rising 9th grader this coming summer through graduated seniors, need to sign up for one (1) day of the month that you will be responsible for making sure that all the necessary shifts for that day are covered. The daily shifts are as follows:

Wow! What a fun filled and Godly summer. Over the last three months, the youth have
spent time together learning about God’s Will for their lives, helped complete three (3) local
mission projects, served the Cherokee tribe in the Sarah Smoker community, attended a youth
revival at Fort Caswell, and much more. It has been such an amazing summer that only one
word can do it justice – JESUS!
As I write this update, I remember standing in a circle with a group of students singing “Oh
How He Loves.” What an awesome feeling to let go of our worries and give ourselves freely
to worship God. In fact, one of my favorite ways to connect with God is through listening to
and singing contemporary worship. Our community is blessed to have two contemporary
Christian radio stations that I am able to listen to each day. Knowing that music is such a pow-
erful expression of our faith, it has been one of my goals to find ways to
incorporate music into the youth group as much as possible.
By God’s great provision, He has blessed us with some new friends
Jesse Teal and his fiancée Ashley Garner. Jesse and Ashley have offered
their musical abilities to us and have dedicated themselves to helping us as
we embark on contemporary worship with our youth group. It has been so
exciting to see how God can present himself through a group of youth and
a guitar, and I am excited to see how He moves in the future.
Youth Bible Study Thursdays at 4:15pm
Travis will hold Bible Study for all Youth in the
Youth Room each Thursday from 4:15-5:15.
Everyone is invited to stay for dinner at the
Neighborhood Café.
High School Prayer Breakfast Tuesdays at 7:15am
Tim and Travis will meet at Archdale BBQ on
Tuesdays at 7:15 to have a Prayer Breakfast before
school with any High Schooler who wants to attend.

2013-2014 school year.
Censer and Incense
A censer (or thurible) is a vessel commonly
used by Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catho-
lic churches, as well as some Protestant ones,
to burn incense during worship, often on spe-
cial occasions. Censers come in many sizes,
shapes and designs. A worship leader may
swing a chain censer to waft the fragrant in-
cense smoke over the congregation during a
procession or benediction. As incense burns in
a censer and smoke wafts upward, it symbol-
izes prayers of the faithful, floating to God.
"May my prayer be set before you like in-
cense; may the lifting up of my hands be like
the evening sacrifice" (Psalm 141:2, NIV).
