†The Call to Worship ....................................................................................... from Psalm 46

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven,To his feet your tribute bring.Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,Evermore his praises sing.Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise the everlasting King.

Fatherlike, he tends and spares us;Well our feeble frame he knows. In his hands he gently bears us,Rescues us from all our foes.Alleluia! Alleluia! Widely yet his mercy flows.

Angels in the height adore him;You behold him face to face.Saints triumphant bow before him,Gathered in from every race.Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise with us the God of grace.Amen.

The Response

The grass withers and the flowers fall,But the Word of our God stands forever.

*The New Testament Lesson ...............................................................Romans 10:9–15page 1720 in the pew Bible

†The Confession of Faith ...................................................................Heidelberg Catechism

Q. 1 What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life. and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.

The Personal Confession of Sin

The Corporate Confession of Sin

Almighty God, we ask you for grace to recall our needs to know your will, to care for others, to repent daily, to pray consistently, to be zealous for your glory, and to find our deepest joy in you and in your holy will.We confess that we have failed to seek out your will in the Scriptures, that we have kept you at bay while enjoying our sins, and that we have sought our own ends and lived for our own glory.Have mercy on us and forgive us. Work in us a profound and continuing repentance, a grief for sin that trembles and fears, yet ever trusts and seeks clearly the brightness and glories of the saving cross; for the sake of Jesus our Savior, Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .........................................Heidelberg Catechism

†The Response—Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine! ....................................Assurance

60. Q. How are you righteous before God?

A. Only by a true faith in Jesus Christ; that is, though my conscience accuse me that I have grievously sinned against all the commandments of God and kept none of them, and am still inclined to all evil, yet God, without any merit of mine, of mere grace, grants and imputes to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ, as if I had never had nor committed any sin, and myself had accomplished all the obedience which Christ has rendered for me; if only I accept such benefit with a believing heart.

Words: Fanny J. Crosby, 1873 | Phoebe P. Knapp, 1873

(Sung by all)Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

The Offertory—None but Christ Can Satisfy ...........................................................Smith

*The Offering (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

O, Christ, in thee my soul hath found,And found in thee alone,The peace, the joy I sought, The bliss till now unknown.

Now none but Christ can satisfy,None other name for me.There is love, and life, and lasting joy,Lord Jesus, found in thee.

I sighed for rest and happiness;I yearned for them, not thee. But while I passed my Savior by,His love laid hold on me.

The pleasures lost I sadly mourned,But I never wept for thee,Till grace my sightless eyes received,Thy loveliness to see.

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,Just to take him at his word;Just to rest upon his promise,Just to know “Thus saith the Lord.”

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,Just to trust his cleansing blood.Just in simple faith to plunge me’Neath the healing, cleansing flood.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him.How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er.Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus.O for grace to trust him more.

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,Just from sin and self to cease;Just from Jesus simply takingLife and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust him,Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that he is with me,Will be with me to the end.
