    PLUMBING

    Whatisplumbing?

Plumbing is the art of design, installation and maintenance of pipe, pipe fittings and otheraccessoriesinabuildingtosupplywater.Plumbing includesallthepipingand fixturesthatprovidewater fordrinking, cooking, bathing, andlaundry; aswell as ameans of disposingwastewater. Plumbers rely onmath tomake accuratemeasurementsandcalculationssoallthepipesandtanksfittogethertoworkproperly. There are two types of Plumbing Systems one isWater Supply System another one isDrainage,Waste, andVenting(DWV). Watersupplysystemdistributeswaterunderpressurethroughoutthestructure fordrinking, bathing, cooking, and laundry. DWV system carriesawaywastewaterandsolidwastefrombathrooms,kitchens,andlaundries.Thissubsystemisnotunderpressure,andmustbeproperlyisolatedtopreventwastewaterfromenteringthedrinkingwatersupply.

    ThePlumber:Plumberisapersoninvolvedintheartofplumbing.WhatisPVCpipe?

Apolyvinyl chloride(PVC) pipe ismade from a plastic andvinylcombinationmaterial.Thepipesaredurable, resistant todamage, and long lasting.APVCpipe does notrust, rot, orwear over time. For those reasons, PVC piping ismostcommonlyusedinwatersystems, undergroundwiring, andsewerlines.

PVCwas first developed in 1925when a BFGoodrich employee,Dr.WaldoSemon, attempted to inventamethod forbondingmetaland rubber.Afterblendingmaterialstogether to create a strong and flexible material, Semon discovered PVC. Nonetheless, theproductremainedvirtuallyuselessforanotherdecade.Inthelate1930's,PVCwasfoundtohavegreatshockabsorbingabilities.Thisdiscovery ledtothecreationof long lastingPVCtiretreads, whichwerecreatedwithflexibleformsofPVC.

    WhatisGI(GalvanizedIron)pipe?

These pipes are widely used for conveying raw water and distribution oftreated water in majority of rural water supply schemes, where therequirement of water is less. Mostly medium quality GI pipes are used.Thesepipesarecheap, andeasy tohandleand transportandeasy to join.Theirsizesvaryfrom15mmto150mm.
