Staff Wellness Opportunity
In the class, staff will be able to use the tools in the WPMS wood shop to make wooden signs or games out of wood such as corn hole boards, giant jenga, yard dice, etc. If participants want to make bean bags for corn hole or a carrying bag for yard dice, instruction could be moved to the Family and Consumer Science classroom at another time. Stephanie will contact participants prior to the class so the materials can be purchased prior to the Make It and Take It day.

Introduction to Restorative Practices and Using Circles Effectively is a hands-on 2-day course designed by IIRP (International Institute of Restorative Practices) to teach you the basics of Restorative Practices and circles. This course will give you effective tools when working with students to create community, have effective communication and resolve conflict in the classroom, hallways, and anywhere else you interact with students. We will study language, the RP continuum, the social discipline window, and spend a good amount of time practicing these skills including Circles for the classroom.

Project Read is a phonology strand focusing on decoding, encoding and reading strategies using multisensory activities and direct instruction to present a systematic approach to phonics. The phonology strand includes phonemic awareness, sound/symbol recognition, decoding, spelling, syllabication, word formation, handwriting, sentence composition, affixes, Greek and Latin roots, and most importantly the application of these skills into authentic text. This training will focus on pedagogy and the foundational basics.

This workshop focuses on foundational mathematical thinking, helping students gain a meaningful understanding of number sense going from unitary to composite strategies. These strategies will provide for a common mathematical language, daily routines in the classroom along with more intensive focused instruction for struggling students with the goal of improving logical mathematical thinking and flexibility with number sense, counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will examine the screeners used to assist with diagnosis of mathematical deficiency in order to target appropriate instruction. This training will focus on pedagogy and the foundational basics with opportunities for staff to plan with grade level colleagues.

Illuminate Data & Assessment is a standards-based assessment platform with robust reporting. Learn how to build and administer assessments tied to our Standard or Critical Concepts. You can choose from thousands of items in the itembank, or create your own customized assessments in a variety of formats (multiple choice, short answer, essay, performance tasks, etc.). There are several pre-built reports for analyzing data or you can create custom reports to identify trends and inform instruction.

● All classes listed above qualify for WPSD Inservice credit which may be used toward licensure recertification (or renewal), salary increases (classification changes for certified), or remuneration (classified employees) unless otherwise specified as long as the class is related to your teaching area or assignment and you did not receive a stipend. If you did receive a stipend, you will receive a transcript listing hours that may be used for CDE licensure recertification, but not salary increases.
● Please make sure you sign-in for every class and provide mailing information if you are not a WPSD employee. This is how we track attendance and award credit.
● Credit is calculated at 15 Contact Hours equals 1 Semester Hour. For licensure renewal, CDE requires 90 Contact Hours or 6 Semester Hours or a combination of the two. You will receive 1 semester hour for a 2-day course, .5 semester hours for a 1-day course, etc. Courses less than .5 will be assigned as Contact Hours.
● Most classes are free to In-District staff, Ute Pass BOCES District Staff and CSCS Woodland Park Campus unless noted. Some classes may charge an additional fee.
● District Inservice credit will be awarded to staff by September 1 through WPSD Central Office and will include all summer courses taken by staff.
