    About this documentAbout this document

    Purpose

This document is the Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS Bulk Automated Scenarios User Guide for

LTEof the Alcatel-Lucent 9952 Wireless Provisioning System (WPS). This document

describes the graphical user interface (GUI) of the bulk operations and includes

procedures to use the wizards. The Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS is an optional tool in the

Alcatel-Lucent Long Term Evolution (LTE) Radio Access Network (RAN) product suite.

    Reason for reissue

Table 1 Changes since the last software release

    Location Change

Bulk operations GUI (p. 1-4) Updated the graphic and listing of the Bulk

    wizards.

Chapter 1, Bulk operations overview Created two generic procedures that work with

any of the Bulk wizards.Chapter 2, Bulk operation scenarios Added additional information about the new

Bulk wizards, and made the description

structure of the previous wizards match the

    newer wizards.

    Intended audience

This document is intended for engineering personnel responsible for configuring the LTE

RAN network as part of an LTE network. To use this document effectively, LTE RAN

engineering personnel must have good knowledge and understanding of the LTE RANconfiguration principles, and be familiar with the other documents in Related

    information (p. xiii).

    1 1Bulk operations overview

    Overview

    Purpose

This chapter describes the LTE-specific bulk operations supported by the Alcatel-Lucent

9952 WPS (9952 WPS). The service provider technician may use bulk operations toconfigure multiple network elements (NEs) or managed objects (MO) in a single

    operation.

    Bulk operations description

    Additional license required

The Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS Bulk operations feature is an additional option to the

Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS product and requires a separate license. For more information, see Alcatel-Lucent 9952 Installation and Administration Guide, 9YZ-05134-0001-

    RJZZA.

    Actions performed

Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS provides a bulk operation mechanism that automatically

    performs the following actions:

Create a workorder to gather the provisioning data related to a specific bulk operation.

Run the required unitary operations in sequence, based on the input data available in a

    Microsoft Excel spreadsheet input file.

The Excel file contains the configuration data and the keys for network elements(NEs) or managed objects (MOs) that are loaded into the Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPSfor bulk operations.

Each bulk operation calls existing Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS operations but uses

spreadsheet data as input instead of manual input. Each bulk operation is based on

existing operations (including checks validation) and if an existing operation

computes data, that data does not need to be provided in the spreadsheet input file.

Figure 1-1, Bulk operations workflow (p. 1-3) shows the steps involved in a bulk

    operation.

Note: The MOs for the bulk operation are defined in the external input file and do not

depend on the current selection. Therefore, the bulk operation is available on every

    NE including the root node.

    Excel spreadsheet input file compatibility

The Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS Excel spreadsheet input files are Alcatel-Lucent 9952

    WPS release-specific (release-applicable and release-dependent).

Version 1.0 Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS Excel spreadsheet input files cannot be usedwith

    the Version 2.0 Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS.

Likewise, the Version 2.0 Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS Excel spreadsheet input files are not

backwards compatible with the Version 1.0 Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS.

    Bulk operations menu items

The following Bulk operations are available from the Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS main

    window:

Multi ENodeB Cloning (from LA5.0.0) - Enables cloning from one or more existing

    eNodeBs.

Multiple Lte To Lte Neighboring Plan Rebuild (from LA5.0) - Deletes existing

LTE-to-LTE neighboring for a set of eNodeB equipment and rebuilds the neighboring

links based on the spreadsheet input.

Multiple Lte To Lte Neighboring Plan Update (from LA5.0) - Updates and adds

LTE-to-LTE neighboring for a set of eNodeB equipment.

Multiple Lte To OneXRtt Neighboring Plan Rebuild (from LA5.0) - Deletes existing

LTE-to-OneXRtt neighboring for a set of eNodeB equipment and rebuilds the

neighboring links based on the spreadsheet input.

Multiple Lte To OneXRtt Neighboring Plan Update (from LA5.0) - Updates and

adds LTE-to-OneXRtt neighboring for a set of eNodeB equipment.

Multiple Cell PCI Configuration (from LA4.0.1) - Configures the physical cell

identity (PCI) for a cluster of cells ( LteCell objects).

Multiple Enb IP Address Migration (up to TLA5.x and before LA4.0.1) - Updates

the virtual local area network (VLAN) configuration type and Internet Protocol (IP)

addresses for multiple eNodeBs. This bulk operation can be used to migrate the IP

addresses for multiple eNodeBs from IPv4 to IPv6 format and can also optionally

adds LTE-to-Utran Tdd neighboring for a set of eNodeB equipment.

Multiple Transport Configuration (from LA4.0.1) - Configures the transport and

VLAN configuration type and IP addresses for a cluster of eNodeBs. This bulk

operation can be used to migrate the IP addresses for a cluster of eNodeBs from IPv4

to IPv6 format and can also optionally change the MME IP address for the eNodeB S1

    links.

Multiple eNodeB Creation (for LA4.0.1) - Creates multiple eNodeBs with all of theirrespective cells ( LteCell objects).

Multiple eNodeB Creation (up to TLA5.x and before LA4.0.1) - Creates multiple

eNodeBs with all of their respective cells, S1, and X2 links.

Each step of the bulk operation procedure and the operation-related messages such as

duration of operations, finding appropriate NEs in the Network, setting parameters,

neighboring relations, and so on, are stored in the log files.

    Input files

    Using templates

If you want to use a template to configure the LteCells but do not want to populate all of

the information in the spreadsheet input file, import the associated template and set it as

the default template. Do this before executing the operation.

    Creating input files

Each bulk operation allows you to create an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet input file. The

spreadsheet file is called a workbook and each workbook contains one or more

worksheets, which are tabs across the bottom of the Excel window. When you enter thebulk information into the workbook, you then input that workbook into Alcatel-Lucent

    9952 WPS for processing.

Select an input file for the bulk operation.

Generate a template of the input file for the bulk operation.

    Cancel the bulk operation.

For example, the Multiple Cell PCI Configuration (from LA4.0.1) operation displays thefollowing screen.

Selecting the Generate button on the screen generates an Excel spreadsheet input file

with the proper worksheet and column headings for that specific operation.

After you save the template file, then edit the file to enter the appropriate configuration

parameters. Once the input file is compete, this same screen option is used to browse for

the Excel file and use it as input.

    Location of sample files

After the successful installation of Alcatel-Lucent 9952 WPS, there are a few sample

workbooks installed in your local directory \\

user\samples\Bulk. Instead of generating input files, you can modify these sample

templates for the bulk operation scenarios.
