OPaL Beads | JANUARY 2020

I see our house magazine, OPaL Beads as a perfect forum for sharing signicant events in the company while also showcasing our employees' accomplishments and to bring to fore the interesting facets of the personalities of our employees.

This quarter was studded with various outstanding achievements. The most signicant and outstanding one being the inauguration of Hazira-Dahej Naphtha Pipeline (HDNPL). The launch of this project will substantially increase operational efciency. It will further strengthen OPaL's position in the petrochemical domain. I congratulate all the team members of OPaL who worked untiringly to make this project a reality.

One of my priorities at OPaL has been to build communication bridges between OPaL and all its stakeholders. In the same spirit, this quarter, OPaL management had fruitful interactions with the customers in Indore and Kanpur. These regular interactions are helping us build comprehensive business strategies to benet all. Going forward, we will have more outreach programs and we would seek closer association with all our stakeholders. In October, OPaL made maiden appearance in the biggest plastic & polymer exhibition in the world - K Show in Dusseldorf, Germany. OPaL delegation had an excellent experience in interacting with customers of new territories. These events provide a passage for OPaL to expand its brand presence in newer markets.

As you are all aware we are in the 4th quarter of our Financial Year and we need to step up and accelerate our efforts to be able to achieve the group targets that have been shared with each one of you. I strongly believe that these targets are within our reach, having witnessed the capabilities exhibited during the last few months.

We are briskly moving in the direction to full the combined goal of our organization to accomplish our mission of making OPaL a ag-bearer of the petrochemical industry. In this New Year, let's renew our pledge to work towards making OPaL an indomitable force to reckon with.

I wish all the readers of OPaL Beads a very Happy New Year. I hope 2020 will take us closer to achieving our business objectives and will be a year of rewarding accomplishments.

OPaL COMMISSIONS THE AMBITIOUS HAZIRA-DAHEJ NAPHTHA PIPELINE (HDNPL)

ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL) commissioned its ambitious Hazira-Dahej Naphtha Pipeline (HDNPL) on Thursday, 05th December 2019 in a glittering ceremony at OPaL's Dahej plant. The HDNPL project was inaugurated by Shri Shashi Shanker, Chairman & Managing Director, ONGC, in the presence of Shri Subhash Kumar, Director (Finance), ONGC, Shri Sanjay Kumar Moitra, Director (Onshore), ONGC, Shri Navin Chandra Pandey, Director (T&FS), ONGC, Shri Avinash Verma, MD-OPaL, Shri Manoj Srivastava, President-OPaL, and Shri Saumya Chakrabarti, COO-OPaL. The launch of HDNPL project marks a technological leap for OPaL.

The project will be instrumental in transporting Naphtha in a hassle-free and cost-efcient manner. During the launch, Shri Shanker thanked all the stakeholders for successful completion of the project. He said, “the commencement of the project will help OPaL ramp up its polymer production.” He added, “the Naphtha pipeline is an environmentally sustainable solution as it will help reduce the carbon footprint.” Shri Avinash Verma thanked all the team members who extensively worked to complete the project. Shri Verma opined that the commencement of HDNPL will accelerate OPaL's journey of becoming a world-class Petrochemical company.

HDNPL project was a “work in progress” for few years since it was envisioned in the year 2011. Its effective implementation promises process simplication as well as building cost efciencies. OPaL's petrochemical plant has a dual feed cracker which produces world-class petrochemicals. The dual feed cracker runs on feedstock C2/C3/C4 & Naphtha. OPaL has the feedstock securitisation from Dahej and Hazira units of its parent company ONGC. Continuous supply of Naphtha is essential to run the plant in full capacity. Until recently, Naphtha was transported from Hazira to Dahej by marine route which was highly expensive and tedious. Therefore, laying of an underground 97 kms pipeline was proposed which would bring reliability and efciencies in operations. It took tremendous effort and persistence from

the OPaL Team as the Hazira-Dahej Naphtha Pipeline was meticulously laid through 49 Villages, 6 Talukas, 2 Districts, 53 Canals, 37 Drains, Khadi, 2 Railway crossings, 45 roads, the Narmada & Kim River along its course. Heavy rains this year posed a big challenge as all the project sites remained ooded till mid-October. However, unique solutions were devised to carry out the work amid erratic weather conditions. The time lost due to heavy waterlogging was duly compensated by working through several nights. Today, due to resolute handling and commitment of OPaL's management, the visionary project has become a reality. With the successful completion of this project, OPaL inches closer to garnering better competitiveness and market access in the growing petrochemical landscape.

WALK FOR UNITY AT DAHEJ

POEM by Rutva Vipul Chauhan - Daughter of Shri Vipul Chauhan, Sr. Manager – Instrumentation, CPP & Utilities

E-WAY BILLING INITIATED AT DAHEJ PLANTThe invoicing team has recently completed the E-way bill automation project. With this development of automation & integration, the E-way bill number along with its validity would get printed on the face of the Invoice itself through SAP. This eliminates the need to separately punch-in details on Nice i.e. government portal and takes the print copy of the same for each invoice. Further, it eliminates most of the manual intervention, hence, the chances of error are now almost nullied. This is an important step in automating and simplifying the process for error-free operations. OPaL congratulates all the team members for this achievement.

DIWALI SWEETS DISTRIBUTIONS AT DAHEJTo make the Diwali celebrations more joyous, sweet boxes were distributed to all the Business Partners, State Reserve Police, Apprentices & 3rd party associates.
