• Rumors or gossip can be harmful or helpful. Whether or not there is truth in the information circulated often does not stop it from being spread. It seems that if it is harmful to a person or persons is sometimes not of importance to the participants (Clarke, Edmund Jr. July 2003), Lachnit (July 2001), and Training and Development (July 1994). However at some time or another most of us have participated in gossip. Moreover, we are aware that gossip can have an effect on how we react to a person. It is therefore conceivable to observe how malicious gossip could stop us from helping others, a prime example is ones unwillingness to help a homeless person standing at the road with a sign. I have actually heard people say “ the only thing that he is going to do with it is get drunk.” Well, we actually do not know that, but because we are told that many of us do not help.

• Examining the Interpretation of Eye Contact in a University Setting•  • The initial stages of romantic attraction develop from a

number of contributing factors. Many believe that physical appearance is the first step in the development of a romantic attraction. According to psychologist Pamela C. Regan, men and women are most attracted to romantic partners who possess high levels of sex appeal, which primarily consists of an attractive physical appearance (Regan, 2004). This theory is also evident in a study conducted by Maner, Gailliot, and Rouby which emphasized how “strongly, quickly, and automatically we are attuned to attractive people” (Maner, Gailliot and Rouby, 2007).

• Most people are influenced by deception on numerous occasions during their lifetime. They take on the role of the deceiver, the deceived, or unfortunately, in many cases, individuals occupy both roles frequently. Since deception appears to be such a commonly occurring phenomena phenomenon, it would seem like a very important topic of research.

• One of the first questions that might be asked is (start this paragraph here) What exactly is deception.? Some researchers define it as intentionally trying to mislead someone or making oneself appear more desirable than one really is (Rowatt et al., 1998). Others, however, may have slightly different definitions. Regardless of which definition a person uses, deception can range from being trivial (the white lie) to being very complex (infidelity). Whether an individual lies to his or her partner about a new hairstyle or is involved in a secret affair, that person is still engaging in a form of deception.
