echarged after summer vacation, we’re back on track for the last blazing act of the WSK Master Series. After the success and satisfaction of

the Euro Series, it’s time for the championship raced entirely on Italian circuits to give its verdicts, for the most part still pending until the final finish-line. The great celebration of the Final Cup will then close this memorable season.

FinaL cuPThe season’s grand finale for WSK drivers: the Final Cup is scheduled for the weekend of October 30th in Ortona (Central Italy). Participation is open to six categories: from KF1 and KZ1, home of the super-champions of international kart racing, to KF3 and 60 Mini, dedicated to the younger drivers, all the way to KF2 and KZ2, reserved for official and independent drivers. The brand new International Circuit of Abruzzo is 1,600 metres long and has already hosted several races of primary importance: here too the Final Cup is being looked to as the ideal “icing on the cake” of an extraordinary season. Like always, the cameras of the Italian TV channel Rai Sport will give live coverage of Sunday’s races.

Grande finale di stagione per i piloti della wsk: a Ortona (in provincia di Chieti, nel

centro Italia), il week end del 30 ottobre si corre la Final Cup. sei le categorie presenti,

da kF1 e kZ1, terra dei supercampioni del karting internazionale, fino alle classi kF3 e

60 Mini, rivolte ai piloti più giovani. Non mancano kF2 e kZ2, riservate a piloti ufficiali

e privati. Il Circuito Internazionale d’Abruzzo, di nuova costruzione, ha una lunghezza di

1.600 metri e ha già ospitato diverse gare di primaria importanza; la Final Cup si pone,

anche per lui, come ideale “ciliegina sulla torta” di una stagione straordinaria. Anche in

quest’occasione non mancheranno le telecamere di Rai sport, la rete televisiva italiana,

che trasmetterà in diretta tutte le gare di domenica.

partenza: non si possono superare i 50 km/h per KF2 e KF3 e i 40 km/h

per la 60 Mini.

are still wide open in viterbo. in Kf3 antonio fuoco (top Kart/

tm) is in the forefront with 179 points, followed by robin Hansson

(energy/tm) and nicolai Sylvest (tony Kart/vortex), both behind

by 74 points; mathematically, Callan okeeffe (fa Kart/vortex) also

has a chance, but the 84 point gap between him and fuoco make

things ahead look challenging, to say the least.

in Kf2 antonio Giovinazzi (PCr/Parilla) is at the

top with 173 points and the only one still able to

compete with him is Stefano Cucco (birel/Parilla),

behind by 32 lengths. a two-headed duel is also

going on in Kz1, where a gap of 63 points keeps

Paolo de Conto (energy/tm) ahead of marco

ardigò (tony Kart/vortex). Kz2 is the only

category in which the standings have

been sealed, since the italian marco

zanchetta (CKr/tm) is 91 points

ahead of the second runner-up,

alfredo delli Compagni

(CrG/tm).

Con 85 (35 + 50) punti ancora a disposizone, a Viterbo le

classifiche di campionato sono ancora apertissime. In KF3 Antonio

Fuoco (top Kart/tM) guida la classifica con 179 punti, alle sue

spalle ci sono robin Hansson (energy/ tM) e nicolai Sylvest (tony

Kart/Vortex), entrambi a 74 punti di distacco; matematicamente

può giocarsela anche Callan okeeffe (FA Kart/Vortex), ma tra lui

e Fuoco ci sono 84 punti, che rendono il cammino di okeeffe

a dir poco impervio… nella KF2 Antonio giovinazzi

(PCr/Parilla) è in testa con 173 punti, unico a potergli

contendere li titolo è Stefano Cucco (Birel/Parilla),

distanziato di 32 lunghezze. Altra lotta a due in KZ1, con

63 punti a dividere Paolo De Conto (energy/tM) da Marco

Ardigò (tony Kart/Vortex). la KZ2 è l’unica categoria in cui

la classifica è già chiusa, visto che il trevigiano

Marco Zanchetta (CKr/tM) ha 91 punti

WSK Promotion is the first organiser to have opened the International scene for drivers in the 60 Mini, creating a dedicated high level championship in which the very young can race and gain experience in view of making the leap to international categories (KF3 and then KF2). In WSK races, championship standings are not kept for drivers in the 60 Mini, according to Article 18 of the Inter-national Sporting Code, but at the end of the year the best will be given an award at the WSK Gran Galà, the annual gala dinner that celebrates the winning drivers and teams of the WSK Series.

wsk Promotion è il primo organizzatore ad aver dato spazio a

livello internazionale ai piloti della 60 Mini, organizzando per

loro un campionato di altissimo livello, in cui i pilotini possono

correre accumulando esperienza in vista del salto nelle cate-

gorie internazionali (kF3 e, a seguire, kF2). Nelle gare della

wsk, in rispetto all’Articolo 18 del Codice sportivo Interna-

zionale, non c’è una classifica di campionato tra i piloti della

60 Mini, ma a fine anno i più meritevoli verranno premiati in

occasione del wsk Gran Galà, la consueta cena di gala che

premia i piloti e i team vincitori nelle serie wsk.

the combined rankings, followed by robert Shwartzman (birel/

lKe), berkay besler (top Kart/lKe) and davide Stura (top Kart/

Parilla). in Prefinal a, the Swiss Gjergj Haxhiu (Hero/lKe) wins,

followed by besler and the russian angel Shtol (top Kart/

lKe); instead, it is the Spaniard eduardo J. Garcia (top Kart/

Parilla) who takes over in Prefinal b, with Shwartzman and the

venezuelan mauricio baiz (birel/Parilla) following right behind

him. Sunday afternoon’s final race is ruled by the Swiss Haxhiu,

who takes home a success followed by besler and the fast

russian robert Shwartzman. Good job also by tommaso mosca

(PCr/Parilla), who comes in fourth. marcu dionisios (top Kart/

lKe) was leading the “virtual” rankings (as per regulations,

points can’t be assigned to the youngest drivers), but he now

has to step aside for Haxhiu: the romanian driver manages to

only rank ninth, recovering positions but held back by one too

many “taps”.

at val vibrata, antonio fuoco (top Kart/tm) proves he is a viable

candidate for the title of the 2011 WSK master Series in Kf3 and

in tuscany, already on friday, he lets everyone know he is one

of the strongest. He begins to dominate in the heats, with three

victories and a second place. behind him in the combined rankings

are the frenchman erwan Jule (intrepi/Parilla) and the two danes

nicolai Sylvest (tony Kart/vortex) and nicklas nielsen (tony Kart/

vortex). in the prefinal, the victory goes to Sylvest, followed by

the 2010 WSK master Series champion nicklas nielsen and

by dennis olsen (energy/tm). fuoco closes eleventh in Sunday

afternoon’s first race, but in the final, under the pouring rain, the

southern italian driver goes wild, recovering several positions and

winning. He also gains the leadership in the general rankings, with

75 points (85 are still available) more than the two drivers who

are ranking second, robin Hansson (energy/tm), who in Siena

doesn’t do so well, and Sylvest. antonio d’angelo (PCr/Parilla)

comes in second at the finish line of Sunday afternoon’s final race,

with a great comeback from his starting position, sixteenth. the

englishman matthew Graham (zanardi/Parilla) ends third, also with

a great recovery - he was seventeenth on the starting grid

and twenty-eighth after the heats. the monegasque Charles

leclerc (intrepid/tm), eighth at the go, ends fourth.

nella gara di Val Vibrata Antonio Fuoco (top Kart/tM) dimostra

di essere un possibile pretendente al titolo della WSK Master

Series 2011 in KF3 e, in toscana, già dal venerdì fa capire di

essere uno dei piloti più forti del circus. Il suo dominio inizia nelle

manche, con tre vittorie e un secondo posto. Alle sue spalle nella

classifica combinata il francese erwan Jule (Intrepi/Parilla) e i

due danesi nicolai Sylvest (tony Kart/Vortex) e nicklas nielsen

(tony Kart/Vortex). In prefinale vittoria per Sylvest, seguito dal

campione WSK Master Series 2010 nicklas nielsen e da Dennis

olsen (energy/tM). Fuoco chiude undicesimo nella prima delle

due gare di domenica pomeriggio, ma in finale, corsa sotto una

forte pioggia, il pilota calabrese si scatena recuperando diverse

posizioni e conquistando la vittoria. Sua anche la leadership in

classifica, con 75 punti di vantaggio (sono 85 quelli ancora dispo-

nibili) sulla coppia di piloti secondi in classifica, robin Hansson

(energy/tM), che a Siena non è riuscito a fare bene, e Sylvest.

Secondo al traguardo Antonio D’Angelo (PCr/Parilla), partito se-

dicesimo in Finale e in buona rimonta durante la gara di domeni-

all eyes are on antonio Giovinazzi (PCr/Parilla) and Stefano Cucco

(birel/Parilla), the championship is playing out between them.

Giovinazzi takes home a handful of points more than Cucco, but

without breathtaking results, since in the prefinal Giovinazzi is

fourth and Cucco sixth and in the final they are respectively fifth

and sixth. in viterbo the battle for the title is theirs: Giovinazzi is

ahead by 32 points. but Gianmarco ercoli (tony Kart/vortex) is

the one who rules the weekend: first in the qualifications, first in

the combined rankings - followed by alberto di folco (tony Kart/

vortex), Cucco and victor Sendin (tony Kart/vortex) -

and first in the prefinal. yet, the victory in the final goes to di

folco, who is right behind ercoli the whole weekend. the final

race is interrupted at the eighteenth lap due to the pouring rain,

since drivers are racing with slicks; at that point, when track

conditions are getting worse, alexander albon (intrepid/tm) is the

fastest (after getting fifth place in the prefinal). ercoli is second

at the finish line, but gets a two-second penalty, so he ends up

ranking third, followed by the German driver marvin Kirchhofer

(rK/bmb) - already third in the prefinal - who is galvanized by a

great comeback in the third round; James misso toti (tony Kart/

vortex) is seventh, followed by maksimilian van meever (tony

Kart/vortex).

giovinazzi è quarto e Cucco sesto. e, in finale, i due sono

rispettivamente quinto e sesto. A Viterbo la lotta al titolo è solo

tra loro: giovinazzi ha 32 punti di vantaggio. Durante tutto il

week end è gianmarco ercoli (tony Kart/Vortex) a dominare:

primo nelle qualifiche, primo nella classifica combinata -

seguito da Alberto Di Folco (tony Kart/Vortex), Cucco e Victor

Sendin (tony Kart/Vortex) - e primo in prefinale. Ma in finale

vince Di Folco, che per tutto il week end è alle spalle di ercoli.

la finale viene interrotta al diciottesimo giro per una forte

pioggia, proprio quando i piloti sono in pista con le gomme

slick; in quel momento con le condizioni della pista in continuo

peggioramento il più veloce è Alexander Albon (Intrepid/tM),

quinto in prefinale. ercoli taglia il traguardo in seconda posizione

ma viene penalizzato di due secondi, quindi in classifica è terzo,

seguito dal pilota tedesco Marvin Kirchhofer (rK/BMB) - già

terzo in prefinale - ringalluzzito dall’ottima rimonta nel terzo

round; settimo James Misso toti (tony Kart/Vortex), seguito da

Maksimilian Van Meever (tony Kart/Vortex).

beitske visser (intrepid/tm) wins final 2 in Kz1 (second absolute),

beating Paolo de Conto (energy/tm), who is second

in Kz1 but sixth overall. Saturday’s first heat goes to visser,

followed by marco zanchetta (CKr/tm); in the second heat,

the top two invert positions and zanchetta, thanks to his best

time in the qualifyings, starts final 1 in pole position, with visser

and Paolo de Conto placing behind him: the last is the one who

conquers victory, zanchetta ends second, then come visser,

riccardo negro (dr/Parilla) and flavio Sani (birel/tm).

in Sunday morning’s two heats beitske visser takes home a double

win and gains pole position for final 2, which unfolds under the

rain. driving on wet pavement, the dutch driver gains the race

lead, but is then forced to make room for alfredo delli Compagni

(CrG/tm), who races in Kz2 but is the absolute winner of this race,

scoring a very fast best lap (half a second faster than the second

best). tommaso marconi (first/tm) is third absolute (but second

in Kz2), followed by Kristijan Habulin (CrG/maxter) and Jacub

Glowacki (birel/tm). zanchetta is only seventh overall (fifth in his

category), but this is not an issue for him: the italian has already

conquered the 2011 WSK master Series title in Kz2, one round

short of the final event of the season. instead, the games in Kz1

are still open.

Beitske Visser (Intrepid/tM) vince la Finale 2 in KZ1 (seconda

assoluta), battendo Paolo De Conto (energy/tM), secondo in KZ1,

ma sesto assoluto. la prima manche di sabato è per la Visser,

seguita da Marco Zanchetta (CKr/tM); nella seconda gara di

qualifica le prime due posizioni sono invertite e Zanchetta, grazie

al primo tempo nelle qualifiche, parte in pole nella Finale 1,

seguito dalla Visser e da Paolo De Conto. è quest’ultimo che vince

la prima finale, secondo Zanchetta, poi la Visser, riccardo negro

(Dr/Parilla) e Flavio Sani (Birel/tM). la domenica mattina nelle

due manche Beitske Visser porta a casa due vittorie e guadagna

la pole position per la Finale 2 che si corre sotto la pioggia. Con

l’asfalto bagnato la pilota olandese guadagna la testa della corsa,

ma poi è costretta a cedere al passo di Alfredo Delli Compagni

(Crg/tM), che corre nella KZ2 ma è vincitore assoluto della gara,

in cui fa segnare un best lap molto veloce (mezzo secondo più ra-

pido rispetto al secondo miglior giro). terzo assoluto (ma secondo

per la categoria KZ2) è tommaso Marconi (First/tM), seguito da

Kristijan Habulin (Crg/Maxter) e da Jacub glowacki (Birel/tM).

Zanchetta è solo settimo assoluto (quinto di categoria), ma per lui

non è un problema, perché il trevigiano conquista con una gara di

anticipo il titolo nella KZ2 della WSK Master Series 2011. rimane

aperta la classifica della KZ1.
