This course was specially organized by Mission Rabies for the Government Veterinarians. The Government Clinics and Veterinarians themselves never followed the Standard Operating procedure. Mr Ohal witnessed this in one of the camps organized by the Animal Husbandry Department. Weather it is a field clinic or the in house clinic. The Autoclave had few sets all bundled in a cloth without drapes. First and most important, none of the vets washed their hands and put on the gloves, the Vets didn’t know how to wear gloves and broke all the asepsis.

These pictures are before the surgery – in first picture – look at the hands of the surgeon who put on sterile gloves. They didn’t have drapes for the dogs, Mr Ohal had carried few sterilised surgical sets knowing Government Doctors won’t bring the entire set and provided them the entire set.

This training is boon for the State and the Veterinarian. Initially, the Veterinarians were not serious at all, however when the Government Veterinarians spent their first two days in the course, they were highly obliged and were continuously calling to get their friends a seat in the course. Suddenly, Mr Ohal was like important person for them to get a seat for their known ones. Some of them even tried taking the name of the Director, Animal Husbandry for reference to get a slot.

One of the Doctors said, “I have never seen/ witnessed this kind of training program, which has such a high asepsis level of maintenance.” He further said that we spent 20 + years of our service but if we had got this type of training 20 years back, we could have served the society in much bigger and better way.

Many of these senior veterinarians were regretting because of the course came at the time when they will have very little time to serve the society. It is their life changing experience.

By the end of the course, lot of veterinarians started coming and asking for the slot in the course, couple of them even offered to pay for the course.

During our last Mission Rabies Drive, Kate Shervell, our International Director, met the Secretary, Animal Husbandry Department and offered to help the Jharkhand State Government to build the surgical skills of the veterinarians by brining the International Training Course for the Veterinary Doctor in Ranchi.

The Training Program was Launched and Inaugurated by Dr Govind Prasad, The Distict Animal Husbandry Department, Ranchi.

Dr Vinay Bhagat, the Chief Instructor/ Trainer from Worldwide Veterinary Service- India showed the first demo surgery on very first day and briefed all the participants about the entire training course.

The Course concluded with Six Successful Participants –

When Ranchi Veterinary College came to know about our training program, Principle of the veterinary college sent a team of senior veterinary students to get an exposure. The Principal also requested our team to conduct the course in the college. This shows the strong message has gone in entire Jharkhand State and our training program is very much appreciated. Dr Vinay briefed the Veterinary students about our International Training Centre at Ooty and explained the procedure to book a seat for them.
