INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN The firm pushes the boundaries of thinking in design to create increasingly

innovative project solutions, thereby increasing client outcomes. Major infrastructure projects, by their very nature, involve significant

investment. They require solutions that are cost-effective, efficient, sustainable and delivered in an environment in which risks are managed.

Infrastructure design brings together many of the skills and services available across WWDCS from town planning, environmental impact assessment of development, geotechnics, water engineering, roads and bridge design and tunnels, to site development, rail, mining, waste and highway design. It also brings together truly capable and influential people with wide project experience and interesting and inspirational stories to tell.

SITE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT One of the first steps in completing a project is the site work. WWDCS Consulting Engineers carefully conduct an analysis of the site and through feasibility study makes recommendations for the site plan based on existing conditions, the need for any remediation, and appropriate regulatory agency and/or municipal, or federal compliance issues. Once the site is studied and recommendations are approved, we develop the design plan that encompasses land use, drainage, and utilities for commercial and industrial operations, subdivisions, mobile home parks, and camping and recreation areas. Our knowledge of and experience with regulatory and compliance issues ensures that the work will be done correctly and legally the first time and the area will not encounter future site problems.

INTERDISCIPLINARY EXPERTISE By combining their skills with those of colleagues in the architectural, structural, water, geotechnical environment and tunnels sectors, WWDCS hydrogeology experts ensure that clients receive the best multidisciplinary advice at all stages of a project, from planning and environmental assessment to construction, operation and management of assets. Groundwater is a precious environmental resource, supporting wetlands and other ecologically important features. Recognizing the significance of hydrogeology at an early stage in any project allows the appropriate design to minimize groundwater impact and optimize environmental benefits.

ENVIRONMENT "environment" means

(a) air, water and land; (b) all layers of the atmosphere; (c) all organic and inorganic matter and living organisms; (d) the ecosystem and ecological relationships; (e) buildings, structures, roads, facilities and works; (f) all social and economic conditions affecting community life; and

(g) the inter-relationships between any of the factors in sub-clauses (a) to (f)

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

Prior to the preliminary design WWDCS engineers conduct study to assess Environmental Impact of development based on the data collected. The study includes baseline assessment, prediction of the potential environmental and social impacts, proposing mitigation measures, and the design of an Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan

ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY Consulting Engineers' staff has extensive experience in taking a project

from the initial environmental site assessment, through preparation and acquisition of permits, monitoring of regulatory requirements, planning and design, to the final construction.

We are experts in wetland delineations and mitigation, threatened and endangered species studies, and a wide spectrum of reports covering such topics as hazardous waste and historic structures.

We bring the same attention to detail and quality of work to every project, regardless of size and scope. Every client can be assured that the full resources of the firm are brought to bear on every project.

VALUABLE SOLUTIONS

For some of its clients, WWDCS manages the impact of their project on local groundwater. For others, the groundwater itself is an asset to be managed in the most efficient way.

As a consequence, these projects range through many markets, including communication net work of roads & highways, rail, energy, water and site development. WWDCS expertise also extends to groundwater source energy systems and the use of groundwater in building services.

The hydrological and hydrogeological impact assessment included monitoring, numerical modeling and design of mitigation

SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT

Water is a precious resource that needs to be managed to reduce use and to be disposed of in a responsible manner. WWDCS water engineers are responsible for the provision of safe water supplies for drinking, recreational and sanitary use, as well as the collection, disposal, treatment and recycling of wastewater. The firm's specialist teams deal with all types of drainage and disposal systems and design waste management strategies to reduce landfill

Page 8: Wwdcs new

MINIMIZING THE IMPACT OF BUILDINGS

By following the natural flow of the water cycle, WWDCS aims to minimize the impact of the built environment. Demands placed by buildings on treated mains water can be minimized by designing a building's water supply for water efficiency, augmented by rainwater harvesting and grey water use. Water-saving features, combined with behavioral change, can reduce consumption in the buildings.

Water Supply, Sewerage & Drainage/Public Health

The urban services have always been the back bone of any development, we have core positioning in formulating, designing & implementing urban services schemes both as stand alone or integrated package. The experience has been ranging across rehabilitation to augmentation to development works for green field extensions

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

Integrated Management of Solid Waste has been forefront of environment paradigm given the growing populace, fast changing lifestyle of people and limited capacity of city landscapes to cater as dump yards. Solid Waste Management may be defined as the discipline associated with the control of generation, collection, storage, transfer and transport, processing and disposal of solid wastes in a manner that is in accord with the best principles of public health, economics, engineering, conservation, aesthetics and other environmental considerations. Our focus areas have been municipal waste management, formulating master plan for collection, conveyance, storage, treatment, conversion, scientific disposal, closures and reclamation strategies.

Solid Waste Landfills Modern landfills are well-engineered facilities that are located, designed, operated, and monitored to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Solid waste landfills must be designed to protect the environment from contaminants which may be present in the solid waste stream. The landfill sitting plan—which prevents the sitting of landfills in environmentally-sensitive areas—as well as on-site environmental monitoring systems—which monitor for any sign of groundwater contamination and for landfill gas—provide additional safeguards. In addition, many new landfills collect potentially harmful landfill gas emissions and convert the gas into energy. There are several types of solid waste landfills

WASTEWATER COLLECTION TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL The provision of running water in a dwelling or structure immediately introduces the requirement for sanitary removal of used water. Improper disposal of human excreta and sewage is one of the major factors threatening the health and comfort of individuals in the areas where satisfactory municipal, on-site or individual facilities are not available. This is because very large number of different disease-producing organisms can be found in the fecal discharge of ill and apparently healthy person. Knowing that many pathogenic microorganisms and toxic chemicals are found in sewage, it becomes obvious that all sewage (wastewater) should be considered contaminated, beyond any reasonable doubt with disease producing organisms and toxic chemicals. WWDCS has developed Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Design Standards for government and non-government orgs to provide a consistent policy and these standards of sanitary sewer design and wastewater are being implemented. These standards have the objective of developing a wastewater treatment and disposal system.
