DDOO IITTWehave the technology, and it wont wreck theworlds economies. In fact, green energy technologies are the key not just to stabilizing

the climate but also to a future that uses its diminishing natural resources more

    efficiently and sustainably.

We have globalized the worlds economic system. Now we HAVE to globalize environmental management

to protect the planets life support system.

Fixing climate is the key to a sustainable future.

TThheerree iissNNOO TTIIMMEE TTOO SSPPAARREE..Analysis by universities, research organizations and non-governmentalorganizations like WWF shows that we have to

START immediatelyif we are to have a chance of building the new industries in time.

TTHHEE WWOORRLLDD HHAASS AA DDUUTTYY TTOO AACCTTTo prevent such disasters, scientists say we should keep global warming wellbelow 2C. To ensure that, we must cut emissions of the gases that causeclimate change by at least 80 per cent by 2050 compared to 1990 levels.

    That is within the LIFETIMES

of power plants being designed and built today.

Unfortunately, all countries are buildingnew coal-fired power stations. But there is a key difference betweenChina, India and developing nations on

the one side and the rich nations on the other: the former still have much lower per

capita emissions and much less wealth whereas the latter have been polluting the

atmosphere for decades. The real problem lies withrich countries such asthe United States of America and Germany, who stick with coal-power projects

when they have many other options.
