Narrative StoriesPower Card StrategiesPower cards are visual aids that use a special interest to encourage a certain behavior or better social choices.
On the back is a one-to-two part script:A brief scenario describing how the hero solves the behavior you are targeting.A recap of how the individual can use the same strategy or a sentence or two showing that the favorite character approves when the individual acts a certain way.
Other issues you may encounter:
Sensory issues
Sacrament meeting is generally overwhelming. The lights, the echoes from the speakers, all the people. Sometimes this is enough to have a child be done for the remainder of the day. Try just staying in the chapel for the passing of the sacrament, then go to a classroom to play where the rest of the chapel meeting can be piped in on low.
Sitting near a window with natural lighting helps if there are sensory issues with flourescent lights.
If the microphone or music in sharing time is too loud, try wearing a pair of ear muffs or headphones that cover the ears to mute the sound to a better level.
Other transitions to prepare for New Year/New class transition. Take pictures of the new teacher and put on a card with the new room number. Give it to the child a month or at least 2 weeks in advance. Introduce him each week to the upcoming new teacher, walk him by the classroom, etc.
