The heat recovery tank picks up waste heat from the air conditioner just after the refrigerant is compressed and before it goes to the condenser. This recovered heat is used to heat water in an insulated, stainless steel hot water tank, wherefrom the system got its name: HEAT RECOVERY TANK.

The concept of heat reclaim from air conditioner could be easily adapted to any design and application as long there is an air conditioner and there is hot water requirement.
