Mr Jones wants to buy a new computer that costs £490. He would like it before he starts his new job next week. His son’s birthday is coming up and he wants to buy him a new bike, which costs £180. He also wants to go to the theatre, with 2 top price tickets costing £70. He also needs to do his food shopping, which normally costs around £100, and pay his gas bill of £35. Mr Jones pays £22 a week in petrol to get to and from work.

Mr Jones has £713.21 in his bank account, and a credit card with £1000 available.

Calculating Cost

How much will you charge for each of your cards?

Each company has been provided with card-making materials worth £5 in total.

Cards & envelopes: £2.50 (for 10)Stickers: £1.50

Glitter and other arts materials: £1

What do you need to consider to help you make a decision?

• Have you used all of the materials made available? • Have you made some cards that feature more stickers/glitter than others?• How much do you think people at the sale will want to pay? • How much do greetings cards normally cost? Do hand made items cost

more or less than others? • How much profit are you aiming to make?

others?
