    Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for the Entire Area From 1 pm into Tonight

    Hazards and Impacts

    Snow Today: Light snow develops this morningbecoming steady this afternoon. 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation likely along the NYC/NJ metro and coast. 2 to 5 inches of snow accumulation likely across the interior.

    Freezing Rain This Evening: Snow transitions to freezing rain this evening. Freezing rain

    transitions to rain for city and coast late this eveningbut likely continues into Late Tonight or early Tue morn across interior. Generally less than 1/10th inch ice accumulation

    Icy Evening Commute: A dangerous glazing of ice likely on untreated road surfaces this

    eveningeven along the coast!

  • While air temperatures are forecast to climb above freezing this evening, the ground surface itself will likely still be below freezing.

    It could take a few hours after the transition to rain for the ground surface to warm above freezing.

    This will likely result in icing of untreated roads and walkways this evening into tonight; making for dangerous travel conditions.

  • Issued: Monday February 15, 2016 at 500 am EST Low pressure will move in from the south today, then track northeast into upstate

    New York by Tuesday Evening. Snow this afternoon eventually turns to freezing

    rain and then plain rain tonight. All areas experience rain Tuesday into Tuesday

    Evening with some strong winds. Flooding will be possible.

    coastline and higher elevations.

    Significant rises likely on areas rivers and streams. Low potential for minor flooding along flashy small streams across Northeast NJ and

    the Lower Hudson Valley.

    Minor Coastal Flooding possible during Tue Aft/Eve high tides. Highest probability along Southern and Eastern Bays of Long Island
