PRESIDENT’SMESSAGE

Again this weekend supporters are in for a wonderful weekend of rugby league, with the Minor Semi Finals being played at Sohier Park on Saturday and Major Semi Final on Sunday at Berkeley Vale. Although all grades are going to be full ofinterest certainly the Bendigo Bank First Grade promises two hard fought contests between the Kincumber Colts and the Woy Woy Roosters on Saturday and the Wyong Roos taking on Minor Premiers The Entrance Tigers on Sunday. I would encourage all lovers of Rugby League to get out to the games and enjoy the finals atmosphere. The first week of the finals series has seen excellent spectator behaviour and it is great to be at the footy with supporters barracking for their teams in a sportsmanlike manner, lets hope this continues throughout the series.Well Done!!!!!

Regards,

Joe Smith CCDRL President

TERRIGAL-WAMBERAL Sharks NEWS The Sharks first grade bowed out of premiership contention while the Sharks Under Nineteens scored a huge win to qualify for the major semi-final. The ShARKS UnDER nInETEEnS started off the match firing and it wasn’t long till Matt Langhein crossed and a Zac Attwood conversion had the Sharks up 6 - 0 but for the remainder of the half the Roos slowly dominated and it was only a great match turning tackle from Scott Drinkwater that had the Sharks only down 8 - 6 at the break. The Sharks owned the second half with the side racing in a further six tries, with both Scott Drinkwater and Ky hopwood crossing for doubles in the Sharks 38 - 8 victory. Jed Ambrose had a great game but it was a great team effort with everybody putting in and gave plenty of belief to the club with a couple of big games ahead.

The ShARKS FIRST GRADE SIDE saved their worst till last as they were beaten by Woy Woy 37 - 6 after trailing 30 - 0 at the break. Despite missing several key players, the Sharks first half defence was atrocious and let the Roosters in for a match winning lead at the break. The Sharks played a better brand of rugby league in the second half with Jason Thorne rewarded for his persistence crossing for a try and adding the extras. Best for the Sharks were Matt and Chad Sharp, Thorne, Shaun Sullivan and Aaiden Wright.

RESERVE GRADE The Rapid Clean Reserve Grade Tigers went into the qualifying Final vs Woy Woy refreshed and keen to put in a good performance. We started the game a little bit flat, which resulted in turnovers that presented our opposition with good field position for much of the opening 20 minutes. However, our defense held strong and we only conceded 2 points in this period of the match. An outstanding long range try from harley Waters was just the spark we needed and the remaining 15 minutes of the 1st half saw us get back to playing the way we had set out to do. halftime Tigers 12 Roosters 2. The second half saw a great team performance in both attack and defense. Our forwards did the job through the middle and our backs contained Woy Woy’s attacking raids. Final Score Tigers 28 Roosters 8. We look forward to our match with Wyong this week. Up the Tigers! OPEn AGEAfter a good start the Treasury Wine Open Aged team couldn’t hold on to a victory over a very well drilled St Eddies team. Our player points went to the veteran Kurt Webb who got 3 points and Players Player, our little half back Matt Burraston, 2 points and one point each to our skipper ned Milos and fullback Jarrod Black. Well done to the three under 19s who backed up for us after a hard game themselves, Ryan hughes, James Dixon and Bill Shaw. All these boys have bright futures for the Tigers. Thanks to all the strappers, trainers and committee for putting the effort in each week. I’d also like to thank my support staff, Perksy, Hampo, Tye. Special thanks to my Man-ager this year Brendon Kunde who did a great job as Manager for the boys. See you all next year.Westy UNDeR 19’SLast week just wasn’t our day but the Pallisters Promotions Under 19 boys effort was great and their never give up attitude really was pleasing as a Coach to watch. We were down by three tries and came back within reaching distance to be competitive again. Bill was outstanding and some great work from Lachy at the back along with great charges from Matena as well. Webby really led the team around the park well all day.I just want to thank Brent Atkins and Luke Riddle for all their help and Connor Atkins as well. Also the huff Man who will be taking over the 19s next season. We wish you all the luck mate and hopefully a Grand Final win next season. Thanks also to all the strappers, rubbers and Dan West-wood for your help during the year. hopefully the rest of the Club can secure spots in the Grand Final and get home some wins for 2015, thanks Jurdy

1ST GRADE The Lance Clarke First Grade Roosters went into the Semi Final prepared to work hard for each other. Early Terrigal pressure was relentless, but the men defended there line well. Once in possession the Roosters piled on the points to lead 30-0 at the break. KINCUMBER Colts NEWS Colts 2015 Presentation night: Saturday 24th October, at Davistown RSL. 6pm. PREMIER TRADE CEnTRE 1ST GRADE:- The Premier Trade Centre Kincumber Colts first grade team came up against Wyong Roos in the Preliminary Semi Final. We started the game well and could not convert the early possession to points, Wyong did not have the same issue and took an early 4nil lead. The boys defense was brilliant in the first half repelling Wyong time and time again and in the final 10minutes of the half were rewarded when Brad Bennett kicked through regathered and scored to lock the scores up at 4all. Just before half time Mark Byrne crashed over and we took a 10-4 lead into the halftime break. In the second set of the second half Troy Woodley found space and scored a great try and we lead by 16points -4, a Brayden Cain field goal saw us extend the lead by 1. The match got into a real arm wrestle and Jake O’Brien setup Ryan Chant with a well place kick to give us a 23-4 lead with 15minutes left. The last 15 minutes we shut down and let Wyong back into the game and with a few minutes remaining we led 23-22. Wyong Roos kicked a late penalty goal and looked to have won the match 24-23. With 30 seconds remaining however Brad Bennett kicked our second field goal of the match to lock the scores up at 24all and send the match into golden point. We started the golden point period well however missed with two field goal attempts and when Wyong got into a position to take their shot at field goal they did not miss and ended up running out winners 25-24 in a great match. Special mention to Ben Thomas who was outstanding on the day and Troy Woodley who took out the players’ player award. The boys will regroup ahead of today’s match against Woy Woy Roosters in an elimination semi-final to keep our season alive.CEnTRAL COAST OZ TAG LADIES TAG:- Good Luck to the team this weekend.PLATeAU TReeS U/19’s :– The Plateau Tree Services U/19’s have been well rewarded for consistency with the minor premiership and they should be well congratulated for this. Our last hit out against Erina was a sound display with our forwards dominating and outside backs led by hardy, Blake and Richo getting the job done. On behalf of the coaching staff we wish the players all the best for the finals campaign through victory or defeat these fine young men have proven that solid and tight knit team will always rise to the top when given the op-portunity. It’s a different game today though against the old foe who would be smarting after their comprehensive win over Wyong last week and who know all about finals footy. For us though, with injuries and players backing up from yesterday’s finals I have no doubt our skill, toughness and a superior club spirit will help the boys get first tickets to main dance.Last round points: on Constructions Players Player Ben Thomas, RGH Consulting 3 points: Jake Hardman,

WYONG Roos NEWS Under 19’s were right in the game at half time but supplying a few key players to First Grade and little football in the last month, the back end of the game was always going to be tough. The club is sure Angry and his staff will have their team back to their best today. Good luck boys.At the start of the season the NSW Cup side set a goal of finishing in the top four and that’s exactly what they did. Well done. Good luck at Penrith against Penrith.Jezza and Clarky both aged about 5 years last Sunday in two nail biting semi’s that went into extra time. Thankfully both teams came away with a win - both games scores were 25-24. Our First Grade dug deep in the second half to come back from being down 23-4 with 20 minutes to go, winning after Quinny kicked the field goal in extra time. Special mention to Jarrod Kessler on his debut, well done. Open Grade stuck to their game plan and there was no panic, especially from youngfive-eight Matty Ross who slotted a 48 metre field goal to win, this kid has a big future in the game.

all the best to all our teams this weekend!

ST EDWARDS Bears NEWS After having the last 2 weekends off the boys were keen to play some football and excited to compete in the Semis for the second consecutive year against The Entrance. The weather at Toukley was quite hot and we started slowly going down 12-0 early. The boys showed some good goal line defence at stages and used our opportunities with the ball down in their half to be trailing 12-10 at half time. After half time we really kicked into gear with Matt Dewar sparking our attack from dummy half. Our props in nick Spittles and Pete smith provided some great go forward which saw us score some great team tries. The boys throughly deserved the win with everyone in the team contributing to a great result for the club. 3pts and Players Player went to Matt Dewar, 2pts to nick Spittles and Pete Smith and 1pt to Dave Thom who played well. Hopefully the boys keep playing with the same confidence this week and we can come away with the win against a strong Toukley side.

CADDO’S WALKThe 3rd annual walk in memory of Andrew Cadigan will be held on Sunday 11th October. In 2012 Andrew completed a 15 month walk around Australia with a pram to raise money and create awareness for myelodysplasia(MDS), a rare form of leukaemia in honour of his mate, Chris Simpson who had passed away from the disease in 2010. Unfortunately Andrew, while holidaying and recuperating from his walk in Thailand suffered terrible head injuries when hit by a motor cyclist and died a month later in a Sydney Hospital.Andrew’s father, Neil, a notable journalist who has written the biographies of An-drew Johns, Danny Buderus, Wally Lewis and Ray Price, and is now the editor of the Men of League magazine wrote a book – One Man and a Pram – based on An-drew’s diary and has organised the walk each year that has so far raised $15 000 for leukaemia research. This year’s walk will leave Memorial Park, The Entrance at 10.00 am and finish at Terrigal with drinks and a BBQ at The Haven. All Central Coast Rugby League Clubs are encouraged, and invited to participate in the walk to support Neil and raise funds to help the research.

TOUKLEY Hawks NEWS The CAnTOn BEACh SPORTS CLUB Toukley hawks would like to wish all teams good luck in this weekends finals series. There were some great games last weekend and no doubt the standard will be high again this week. A big thank you to nat Pollard and all the services who attended our TACKLInG DOMESTIC VIOLEnCE semi-final last weekend. This is a cause we are very proud to be associated with and very passionate about promoting. Please, if you have questions relating to domestic violence, seek assistance from the relevant bodies. Finally a big thanks to all our volunteers who worked their butt off last weekend (and all season for that matter). We couldn’t do it without you and hope to see you all again in 2016.CDM ReINFORCeMeNTS ReSeRVe GRADe: This was a real “ semi-final” game, with defence the dominant feature from both teams in a tryless first half, that saw us lead 2-0 at the break. The second half was much the same, but our class shone through with two late tries to record a 14-0 win and keep our season alive. Another huge game against Woy Woy this weekend, who are always tough to beat. Our whole club believe in you boys - stay focused and committed to eachother and you will continue to reap the rewards.TOUKLEY CARPARK BUTChERY OPEn AGE: What a topsy turvy game. After trailing 6-0, we got out to a 14-6 lead, before Wyong came back to lead again and finally we levelled things up at 24-24 at fulltime. Unfortunately golden point can be a “ flip of the coin” and the Roos got the field goal to give them a win. A special mention to captain-coach Gasso for his hattrick - inspirational mate! Thankfully we get another chance this weekend against St Edwards who had a strong win against The Entrance last weekend after coming from behind. We know we will need a full 70 minute performance to get past the Bears, but like reserve grade we believe in you boys. All the best to nado, Gasso and all the boys - and to all of our junior teams competing this weekend - GO ThE hAWKS!

A Huge thank you to all of our active HUBS members so far, your efforts have made a big difference in how we run the club:
