FAZtor’s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora

CHRISTMAS MESSAGE Christmas is a special season that brings pure and simple joy to our hearts – every year we relive the joys of Christmases past as we create and store new memories of the present. Someone has said that there are three stages of man:

He believes in Santa Claus. He doesn't believe in Santa Claus. He is Santa Claus. Santa Claus, the Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman, Christmas cards, Christmas gifts, Christmas songs, and the lights and decorations are helping us remember our own past Christmases, and reminding us of that very First Christmas when a Holy Child was born on a ‘night of miracles.’ Amidst all of today’s distractions, we are grateful to be reminded that the reason for this yearly cele-bration is not the gaily wrapped boxes under the glittering Christmas tree, or the blinking multicol-ored lights, the funny-looking snowmen, or reindeer flying across the sky. We need to always remember that the true reason for the season is to welcome into our hearts the Baby Jesus, who is our Father’s greatest gift to us. During Advent time, I have heard our school chil-dren singing: “We are waiting for Jesus, like Mary…Come down, Come quickly, Lord Jesus. The whole world is waiting for Love.” We have waited and prayed for the Lord to come. Be reminded that this Love is already with you. So this Christmas as we enjoy the parties, eating, drinking and singing, let us keep everyone in our prayers and share the love of Christ. As the late Michael Jackson, in his childhood stardom, has recorded: “Give love on Christmas Day.” Or as the title of the latest movie states: “Eat, Pray and Love” this Christmas.

To mark Holy Name of Jesus Church’s 85th An-niversary, a “Tree of Life”, a bronze tree trunk with approximately 400 leaves was installed at the back of the Church. Donors will have their names, or those they wish to honor, engraved

on the leaf. The proceeds of the donations to the “Tree of Life” will go towards a much-needed Cap-ital Improvement Fund. It is well known by all who gather here that we are constantly dealing with many repairs needed in our aging buildings (circa 1941, 1949 and 1964). We are confident that the funds raised from the Tree of Life will provide for some of the necessary expenses that we anticipate for the future. The Holy Name Tree of Life was un-veiled October 10, 2010 at the 85th Anniversary Mass and Pastor’s Installation presided by Most Rev. Robert McElroy. Each leaf costs $500 with a $25.00 engraving charge. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - YES, I would like to donate to the Holy Name Tree of Life Project

SALVATION IN DAILY LIFE This Sunday is the feast of the Holy Family, which comes on the first Sunday after Christmas Day. Today’s feast celebrates how the humanity of Jesus (including his entire family life) has brought saving significance into the daily rhythms of our human family life. The scriptures offer instruction and encour-agement on how to share—within our families, par-ish families, and the wider human family—the love that God shares with us in Jesus. Selections from Sirach, Psalm 128, and Colossians encourage us to reflect divine love and thus find holiness in all our human relationships. The reading from Matthew’s Gospel offers a living example of love in the actions Joseph took to protect his young family from dan-ger and to nurture them within the larger family of faith of their time. © Copyright, J.
