The President’s Corner

I hope you all had a very restful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to the upcoming Holidays. It is always amazing to me just how quickly the year flies by. We are almost halfway through our program year already. This month, we have an extra special holiday dinner in store. Plus the speaker is our own Board member, Ann Goebel. Since Ann is an instructor, she is always up to date on the latest trends and we like to share all that good info with our APICS team. So please feel welcome and join us on December 10. We are still looking for some help on our May seminar. We are narrowing down the subject so hopefully that will encourage some of you to join in. Just let any one of the board members know.

Also, you will be seeing new and exciting things happening with APICS. Just look at page 3 of our newsletter and see what is changing. We’ll try to

keep getting the word out about how our Society is working to remain THE professional organization for Operations Management. I obviously am uninspired this month regarding this column. So, to make sure I don’t bore you all to death, I’m ending this now. I hope you and your loved ones have a very happy holiday season. And, I hope you have time to join us for our December PDM. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your APICS Board of Directors.

1. It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time. This little test should help you get started.

During a visit to a mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criteria is that defines if a patient should be institutionalized. "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub. Then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup, and a bucket to the patient and ask the patient to empty the bathtub." Okay, here's your test: 1. Would you use the spoon? 2. Would you use the teacup? 3. Would you use the bucket? "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would choose the bucket, as it is larger than the spoon." What was the director's response?

2. I drift forever with the current Down these long canals they've made Tame, yet wild, I run elusive Multitasking to your aid. Before I came, the world was darker Colder, sometimes, rougher, true But though I might make living easy, I'm good at killing people too.
