About the X2O Channels
In the "real" world, a channel is a medium for communication or the passage of information from one entity to another. For example, a channel can communicate:
Local, national, and international news and weather
Directory information
Advertising and promotions
Real-time emergency messages and alerts
A channel can run on your television screen, a computer monitor at work, a touch-screen information kiosk in the mall, a billboard in Times Square, anywhere…
In the "X2O" world, a channel is comprised of objects that are used to render multiple content types in different areas of the target screen.
Specifically, an object is a reusable component that stores information about a particular content type. Each object has a pre-defined set of properties in which you supply a value. These values give the object a set of instructions, including:
What it should be called
Where it should appear on the target screen
How it should be displayed
Where to get its content (a file, a database, an RSS feed)

About the Base and Core Channels
The X2O Platform includes a line of pre-designed channels for the digital signage X2O Player.
Three base channels, Base Channel, Base Channel Ticker, and Base Channel Crawl, serve as the foundation for your channel layouts.
The Base Channel Ticker channel, for example, is comprised of the following objects:
Background—Displays an image or video background.
Media Loader—Loads any form of media, a playlist, and other channels.
Logo—Displays a brand or company logo.
RSS Ticker—Runs a horizontal ticker of RSS news.

Biography
The Biography channel displays custom news in the main content area, and an image in the side bar. The channel is comprised of three objects: Image, Board, and Frame.

Bulletin Board
The Bulletin Board channel displays a custom message in the main content area, and the current date, time, and weather conditions in the side bar. The channel is comprised of two objects: Bulletin Board and Weather. The bulletin is updated via the X2O Portal Alert/Bulletin tab. The weather location and format (Fahrenheit or Celsius) is updated via the Control/Settings tab.

Image
The Image channel displays an image in the main content area, and the current date, time, and weather conditions in the side bar. The channel is comprised of three objects: Image, Weather, and Title Bar. The weather location and format (Fahrenheit or Celsius) is updated via the Control/Settings tab.

Instagram
The Instagram channel displays images and text from Instagram RSS feeds in the main content area, and weather conditions in the side bar. The channel is comprised of six object types: Frame, Image, RSS Data Feed, Text Single, Title Bar, and Weather.

Message Board
The Message Board channel displays a custom message in the main content area, and the current date, time, and weather conditions in the side bar. The channel is comprised of two objects: Message Board and Weather. The message is updated via the X2O Portal Content tab. The weather location and format (Fahrenheit or Celsius) is updated via the Control/Settings tab.

News
The News channel runs a news feed in the main content area, and the accompanying image in the side bar. The channel is comprised of two objects: Image and News. The RSS feed is updated via the X2O Portal Content tab. A default image is shown if one is unavailable from the selected source.

PDF (Adobe Portable Document Format)
The PDF channel runs a PDF ticker in the main content area, and the current date, time, and weather conditions in the side bar. The channel is comprised of three objects: PDF Ticker, Title Bar, and Weather. The weather location and format (Fahrenheit or Celsius) is updated via the Control/Settings tab.
