The journey continues Dear Fellow Yachtsmen,

We are proud to introduce our latest design; a natural development

of the new dedicated cruising Xc line, which sets new cruising

standards for connoisseurs and dedicated sailing enthusiasts alike.

The Xc 38 delivers a long-distance cruising experience beyond all

expectations. Drawing on our wealth of over 30 years experience,

it represents the fourth in a family of innovative new generation

cruisers, utilising the best transferable features and elements from

our racing and performance heritage.

Throughout the entire design process, our ambition has been to

create the optimum characteristics for long-distance cruising. Our

working philosophy has stressed the importance of reaching each new

destination in the most relaxed and pleasurable way. To this end, the

Xc 38 has a 2-cabin layout which gives a real sense of luxurious space

down below, and is easily handled by a couple on deck.

We all have an idea of the perfect sailing lifestyle, our own nautical

heaven. Whatever your dream is, the Xc 38 will take you there in

style and comfort: The perfect cruising companion. Our best wishes

for a memorable and enjoyable cruise.

30 years of know-how

One of the main differences between the Xperformance line and the new Xcruising line

is the hull design. The Xc line, with its deeper hull sections, provide a greater interior

volume for tanks, and other essential cruising equipment. This feature also provides

smoother sailing in all weather conditions.

The Xc 38 is designed and developed for long-distance cruising, incorporating the most

significant X-Yachts qualities. The powerful main engine sits in a well-insulated

compartment driving a 3-bladed folding propeller. The large fuel and fresh water tanks

are all strategically located, low and central in the yacht for optimum weight distribution.

An X-Yachts trademark is the immensely strong steel hull girder frame, taking the loads

from the keel stepped mast and the composite lead/cast iron keel.

Optional stern anchor. Transformation between closed and

open cockpit is effortless.

Simple platform operation with

dedicated liferaft compartment.

This is where we have hidden some of the best Xc features. The positively raked

transom makes it different from most other cruising or racing yachts, and gives the

Xc yachts a classic look. This style allows a spacious aft deck by connecting the

side decks, which is very practical for cruising and ensures safety in heavy seas.

The transom also accommodates an optional 6-person liferaft, easily launched

from a compartment under the floor. The transom hinges down into a horizontal

position to access the bathing platform, whilst the manually operated transom

door can be effortlessly opened and closed. Also integrated into the platform is

a bathing ladder and a shower unit.

With an optional integrated stern anchor davit, you can lower and deploy up to

50 m of warp with ease using the remote control.

mainsheet track on coach roof

The overall impression of the deck is clean and uncluttered: halyards are fed

underneath the deck, deck hatches are flush mounted, and teak surfaces are fitted as

standard. A recessed locker in the foredeck provides storage for anchor gear.

All sail handling is controlled from the cockpit. Halyards, reefing and control lines are

led back to the winches on the coach roof, whilst the German style mainsheet is led

to dedicated winches within easy reach of the helmsman. Both the standard furling

forestay and the optional self-tacking jib make sail handling simple.

The mainsheet track has been moved out of the cockpit, onto the coach roof,

allowing free passage from stern to companionway. The optional stainless steel

davits enable quick and easy launching of the yacht’s tender from the transom.

The anchor locker provides space for the standard 50 metres of chain, as well as

additional sail bag stowage.

Deck layout

12

13

The Xc 38 offers light and responsive handling, making it a

real joy to helm, while the helmsman’s position provides an

excellent view forward whilst sailing and manoeuvring. The

central instrument console ensures a good view of the navigation

instruments, and doubles as a secure handhold for use at sea.

The throttle and engine control panel are mounted in a starboard

cockpit recess for safe and reliable handling. Every detail is

designed to maximise the skipper’s control at the helm and to

help a shorthanded crew work safely.

Three cockpit lockers, one forward and two aft of the steering

wheels, provide ample storage for lines, fenders and cruising

equipment. For halyards and control lines, a dedicated locker

is integrated in the cockpit sole next to the companionway.

Washboards slide with minimal effort into a recess under the

deck. Pushpit seats offer great views from the aft quarters.

The Xc 38 comes as standard with a conventional spray hood, supported by a stainless steel frame.

An alternative is a curved wind screen, made from toughened glass, that offers increased protection,

extra grab rails, and improved visibility with the spray hood up.

The optional bimini is cleverly designed with a curved stainless steel frame, so that it can offer

protection from the rain as well as the sun, in the marina or under sail. You can also specify a cockpit

tent which can be zipped to the bimini and sprayhood for extra shelter.

18

The interior of the Xc 38 comes with white surfaced structural bulkheads and recessed teak stripes for a modern,

panelled look as standard.

The standard wooden interior is crafted of Khaya Mahogany veneered marine plywood, with white laminate

surfaces on the foremost bulkhead, under the cockpit bulkheads, and inside the head/shower compartment.

All cabinetry is assembled and hand-finished by our specialist joiners to a satin varnish, with the main bulkhead

having a panelled effect. Eight port-lights and three deck hatches flood the interior with light, and all open to allow

natural ventilation.

The detailed workmanship and furniture fittings of the highest standards, are all illustrative of the passion X-Yachts

has for quality yacht building.

plenty of storage

The spacious galley has all the facilities positioned within easy reach and

plenty of storage space. A Corian® counter top and tinted splash board create

a stylish space, while numerous handholds make it functional and seaworthy.

Additional handrails at the companionway and along the coachroof provide

security under way.

Additional equipment includes a 120 litre top-loading standard cool box which

can be converted into a deep freezer. Space is provided for an optional front-

opening fridge and a microwave oven.

Opposite the galley is a dedicated forward-facing nav station with ample space

for charts and communication equipment.

Working space

21

The Xc 38 comes with a spacious 2-cabin interior layout for a really

spacious feel, including a luxuriously large heads with separate shower.

The large forward cabin features plenty of wardrobe space, drawers,

freeboard cabinets and shelves. The aft berths are supplied with dual-

density “comfort” foam mattresses, while the owners’ cabin sprung

mattresses are supported by flexible laminated battens to allow air to

circulate and maximise comfort. In the main cabin cushions are made

of high density compressed “cold foam” with a soft top layer.

The various deck hatches and the cabin trunk port-light offer light and

ventilation, while the Xc 38 also benefits from superb sound insulation.

23

The Xc 38 is designed using the latest and most advanced

3D design programmes, allowing X-Yachts engineers and

technicians to build a yacht where no space is wasted.

The 12V electrical system employs efficient cable runs to

reduce transmission losses. All cabling terminates in a ‘dry’

GRP box fitted behind the main electrical panel in the saloon

for added safety.

Piping for all the water systems on board run in dedicated

service trays and channels.

The engine compartment is well insulated and ventilated, with

good access.

The optional heating system is mounted aft, near the transom

and dedicated piping runs throughout the entire yacht. When

sailing under warmer skies the optional air con system offers a

comforting extra.
