Note - I'm playing with Classic Controller Pro, so button instructions willreflect that. There will be no help in how to fight battles efficiently. Thisgame is huge, and unfortunately I'm going solo in undertaking the walkthru.
Enjoy the introduction scene. Shortly afterwards you're thrust into your firstbattle. Press L or R to target a monster. Doing so displays the Battle Palette.Select the "Fight" icon and press A to start the battle. BP can only hold up toeight arts at once. Once a chr learns more than 8 arts, you may wish toreorganize BP.
Approach target to auto-attack. Note that if you're too far from a monster, youcan't attack it. Select Arts with Dpad and press A to confirm. You cannot usean Art when the icon is crossed out.
BOSS - MECHON M82Just pulverize it, as it stands no chance.

The two chrs introduced are Shulk and Reyn. You control Shulk at the moment,and immediately next battle starts. LANDMARK Mechon Wreckage Site is uncovered.
Note - I'll be adding notes on when certain landmarks are revealed to you. Anylandmark you've been to allows you to warp back to it at any time you desire.Exceptions are when something in the storyline prevents you from doing that.
When the HP gauge is depleted, the character will be incapacitated. Select Artswith Dpad and press A to confirm. Use Back Slash to deal damage. Restore HPwith Light Heal. Select who will be healed by pressing up or down on Dpad.
Smite off the Colony Crabble.
You cannot use the same art repeatedly. After using an art the cooldown begins,and after a set amount of time, cooldown is complete and art can be used again.
Talent arts are arts that are specific to a particular character. Select thetalent arts icon and press A to use it. To use talent arts, the talent gaugemust be full - gauge fills up every time an auto-attack hit connects.
After Crabble croaks, it'll leave behind a treasure chest. Defeated enemieswill drop treasure chests. Press A to open it and take the loot. After you takethe loot, Common Caterpile emerges and green barrier is erected. When greenbarrier stops you from escaping, you need to defeat the monster to make thebarrier disappear.
Aggro is the measure of a monster's animosity towards each party member. Themore damage that a monster takes from a party member, the greater the aggrotowards that member. If a member of the party bcomes the target of a monster'swrath, an Aggro Ring will appear around them. Yellowish arrow denotes directionof monster.
Some Arts are more effective from certain positions. Shulk's Back Slash dealsmore damage if he attacks from behind the monster. This is called the Art'sBonus Effect.
You should use Aggro Rings to help find the best position. When an Aggro Ringappears around Reyn, Shulk has the chance to use Back Slash from the rear. Ifsuccessful and the Bonus Effect condition is met, the damage value will bedisplayed in a greyish circle.
Bash the bug into the ground, and the follow up with tutors on destination andcamera controls. Note that you can review the tutorials at any time. More willbe added as you play the game. At this moment you can check several newtutorials: battle tactics for Shulk and Reyn, as well as hints on Break, Toppleand Daze statii.
Proceed S towards the destination. On the way practice the new battle system ona variety of Bunnivs, Skeeters and other menageries. Whenever you come acrossglowing ball of light on the ground, take it - this is a Collectable. A tutoron Collectopaedia follows. You receive an award for filling a row andcollecting all items in the area.
Once you get to destination marker, a scene plays and Reyn leaves for a while.Tutors on shops, quests and trading will appear. Press A to talk to anyone withan '!' above their head to initiate a quest.
IMPORTANT! Whenever you're going around town, always talk to named NPCs twicebefore they start to repeat themselves. Their text changes depending on thetime when they're active or where they're active. Talking to named NPCs is alsoparamount for creating affinity links between people, which in return activatesquests. For example - in Frontier Village are two nopon, Deki and Kokora. Ifyou talk to Kokora first (twice), she'll register on affinity chart. Then goand talk to Deki twice, which adds her to affinity chart and creates a linkbetween Kokora and Deki. Now return to Kokora and she has a quest for you.
There are three types of quests:- Story Quests cannot be missed and must be completed as part of the story. Whenever a story quest is active, "QUEST" icon will be displayed at top of the screen. In order to proceed with the quest, you have to go to the place indicated by red '!'.- Surprise Quests are activated when you're in the right place at the right time. As such all of these are missable.- Quests from quest givers are most annoying of them all. You have to find the right person to give you the quest, and that's not all. Quest givers are usually around only during certain hours, which makes them a pain to locate. Most quests received from non-named NPCS are completed as soon as you achieve your objective. Quests from named NPCs will (usually) require you to return to quest giver in order to complete the quest.- You need to pay special attention to quests with a stopwatch icon. Once you proceed too far in the story, you will be unable to complete those quests.- Completing quests is one way to raise the affinity with an area. New quests become available when your affinity with the area increases, and you'll be able to trade more items.
The game features over 450+ quests, so you will not go hungry for these. Questgivers are also noted via '!' in the minimap. At the moment, we're gonnaproceed with the game expeditiously until we receive three party members.LANDMARK Main Entrance is unlocked.
For every Landmark and Location you discover you get EXP, AP and SP.For every level up and unique monster you kill you get Affinity Coins.
Go E to enter Commercial District, and then check with the shop nearby. Whenyou're done dinking around, go N. LANDMARK Ether Light and LANDMARK Gem Man'sStall are uncovered.
Venture E across the bridge, and then hike N. LANDMARK Central Plaza andLANDMARK Fortress Entrance are uncovered. A scene will play when you enter thefort - now park Shulk in the building to the left and jog all the way to theback. Hey, it's the Monado, and Dickson. After brief interlude you controlFiora.
Story quests (as well as any other quest) can be viewed in the quest log. Exitthe house to have a scene with Fiora and Dickson. Run W across the bridge, thenturn N, ignore next bridge and go up series of steps to reach Outlook Park.LANDMARK Outlook Park is uncovered.
STORY QUEST COMPLETE! - Delivering food
Let me write a bit about affinity, which is a very important aspect of thegame. Chrs can shout out an affinity cry to another party member to encourageor assist them depending on how the battle is going for them. Get close to aparty member and press B - with this you can encourage party members or helpthose suffering Daze or Topple. Both actions improve the affinity between thetwo party members.
The affinity order between characters is as follows from lowest to highest:yellow hexagon, green square, blue circle, purple cloud, red heartThe affinity order between named NPCs is as follows from lowest to highest:red star, orange star, yellow hexagon, green square, blue circle
Battle Start Affinity - selecting Fight icon to begin the battle gives you achance to achieve BSA. Press B at the right time to rally the party and raiseparty's tension.
Burst Affinity - When a critical hit connects or an attack misses, you have achance to obtain BA. Press B at the right time to encourage that party member.This increases the affinity between the two party members and fills the PartyGauge.
Perfect timing is achieved by hitting the circle precisely. Successful timingis achieved by pressing the button when the marked is inside the circle. Youfail if you press the button too early or too late.
Heart-to-Heart is possible if an affinity between two party members is deepenough. Look for the 'heart' icons on the area maps. Each 'heart' iconindicates a possible Heart-to-Heart. There's a Heart-to-Heart event availablein Outlook Park nearby. The two people involved must be in your party, andaffinity between them must be equal to or higher than the necessary affinitylevel.
Damn tutorials... You can either walk back to Weapon lab or warp there. A sceneplays where Reyn attempts to kill Fiora. Jus' kidding. You can now level upyour arts and learn skills by selecting Skill Trees from the menu. I suggestyou read the tutorial closely, as this is a pain to explain.
At beginning you can level up an art to level IV. Intermediate books allow youto raise an art to level VII - these books can be bought in shops. Expert booksallow you to raise an art to level X - expert books cannot be bought, though.You may find them as part of a quest, receive them as quest rewards, or justbash up a random enemy or UM.
Party is Shulk and Reyn - skip to Main Entrance. In front of you are two paths,take the left one. Upon scaling it you reach Tephra Cave entrance. Be advisedthat you're likely to run into Evil Ranghrot, which will have an adornedmonster window. LANDMARK Tephra Cave Entrance is uncovered.
That Evil Rhangrot fella is a unique monster. UM are much stronger than theother monsters in the field. Defeating UM will award you with better qualityitems, as well as AC. There are 3 flavors of UM:- respawnable UM can be killed as many times as you desire- quest UM only spawn when appropriate quest is triggered, and don't respawn- and then there are some enemies which only spawn during an appropriate quest, but their monster window isn't adornedNext, some UM only spawn during certain time of day and/or weather conditions.
Fiora rejoins again, and you get a tutor on party gauge. PG shows the party'smorale. It increases when bonus effects or critical hits occur. To revive aparty member, at least 1 block of PG must be full. Get close to incapacitatedparty member and press B to revive him/her.
With three full blocks of PG the party gets linked by blue line, denoting thatyou can use Chain Attack. CA is selected by moving the cursor to talent articon, then pressing up/down on Dpad to select CA icon and press A to confirm.
Chain attacks are another nifty addition to the battle system. When carryingout CA, you can select arts for the three members of the party to perform.During CA any arts that were in cooldown phase will be available regardless.You can deal substantial damage with CA. Using arts of the same colorconsecutively during CA raises the level of damage or recovery. Decide whattype of CA to perform based on the circumstances. Talent arts will chain withany color, so try our different combos.
After third party member uses their art, Chain Link may be activated. If itoccurs, press B at the right moment and one other party member will be able touse an additional art. The deeper the affinity between party members, theeasier it is to activate CL. If you're lucky, CL can activate up to 15 times ina row!

Allow me to explain a bit on monster types. Monster type is shown in targetwindow. Ordinary monsters won't attack unless you attack them. Target window ofsuch monsters doesn't have any special icon.- Visual type monsters will attack when they see your chr. Such enemy will have an 'eye' icon in the target window. Generally they do not attack if you're higher level than the enemy.
- Sound types monsters will attack when they hear someone run past them. Such enemy will have a 'sonar' icon in the target window. Generally they do not attack if you're higher level than the enemy.- Ether type monsters will attack when they detect ether casting nearby (an art indicated by a horizontal line). Such enemy will have a 'hexagon' icon in the target window. Generally they do not attack if you're higher level than the enemy.- If you are figting a monster near one or more of the same species, the kindred monster/s will join the battle. You can recognize kindred monsters by '...' icons in monster's target window.
LANDMARK Tephra Path is unlocked. Proceed W, then N and keep going. LANDMARKMag Mell Ruins is unlocked, as well as Warehouse 2. Go up the ramp, and thenmosey thru two green doors, turn left and follow Fiora's assets to LANDMARKRear Entrance.
Final LANDMARK Cylinder Hangar is unlocked, and now entire Colony 9 map isrevealed. I suggest you save your game, cos things will heat up in a fewmoments. Get to destination marker for several scenes to unfold.
BOSS BATTLE - 2x ANCIENT MACHINEYawn, pointless. You'll be briefed on switching targets and party commands.
After taking them down, Colony 9 comes under attack. You can't skip travel atthe moment, so you'll have to hoof it there. Game gives you a chance to systemsave, so use it or lose it. Remove all equips from Fiora, jump off the cliffinto water and then leg it for the bridge into Colony 9.
Fiora will leave for a while, and you're engaged in inescapable battle againstMechon M82. Once you inflict Topple on it, the battle ends and Fiora rejoins.
To flee during a battle, highlight the talent icon and use up/down on Dpad toselect the Flee icon. Press A to stop fighting and run from the monster. Mypersonal opinion is that fighting Mechon during this time is useless, so I'dadvise that you don't fight anything at all. An event battle against 2x Mechon M31 and Mechon 69. You have to killeverything to proceed to next scene. Dunban joins for next event battle against Mechon M82, Mechon M72 and 2x Mechon 69. Wipe the floor with them, and then gothru thru commercial district to exit Colony 9.
Shulk steps up and grabs the Monado to wield it. Shulk's talent art has changedto Activate Monado. Select this command to switch between normal arts andMonado arts. Monado arts are very effective against Mechon. Whenever you fightMechon, use Monado Enchant to grant your allies the ability to damage Mechonwithout needing to Topple them. On the other hand, Monado Buster deals majordamage to the enemy.
Event battle VS Mechon M42, Mechon M72 and Mechon M82. Dismantle everything onthe bridge and move towards S bridge to gain access to residential district.
BOSS BATTLE - LV10 METAL FACEYou can't damage it properly, so instead stand your ground for a minute or so.What's up, Shulk? Monado not working properly? Monado has no effect on Mechonwith faces. You'll need to inflict Topple before you're able to deal damage. Itmay be difficult to inflict Break on large monsters, but it is almost alwayspossible if part of CA.
BOSS BATTLE - LV10 METAL FACEAttack Metal Face until PG is full, and then select CA icon from battlepalette. Have Shulk use Stream Edge to inflict Break, and follow up with Reyn'sWild Down to inflict Topple (or Dunban's Steel Strike). After taking off 50% ofboss' HP, battle is concluded.
Save your game, and a long journey for revenge is now underway. Thought Colony9 was a big area? You ain't seen nothing yet! Wait till you get to Bionis' Leg.You can now craft gems at the ether furnace in Gem Man's Stall. Revise gemcrafting tutorial with dilligence, you'll be spending a lot of time with it.

Search the water below central plaza and pick up Top-Secret Orders (red orb), then confront King Squeeze.
You can skip to Mag Mell Ruins if you want, but I suggest going thru the caveto collect stuff you need for above quests. We'll be going thru Tephra Caveuntil we reach another entrance into it. On top of the ramp you can talk to asoldier for more quests.
K, now return to Mag Mell Ruins, ascend the ramp and dive thru the green door.A scene plays where Shulk and Reyn talk about new door being opened, thusallowing you to explore more of Tephra Cave. In Escape Pod Bay talk to DFS fornew quests.
Venture S from Escape Pod Bay until a big cave opens up ahead. LANDMARK Springof Grief unlocked. Descend down and you'll find an ether deposit. You canharvest very pure ether crystals from ether deposits. Once you've exhausted thesupply, return later to gather more. Save your game!
From the spring go S again to view the scene about some dead traders. Afteryou're thrust into event battle against bunch of Worker Arachnos and 2xDirector Arachno. When battle ends, you're in a small cave with a pond in SEcorner. From this cave exit W, and then turn N to collect Tatty Armor. Thenturn around and proceed for a scene about some strange monsters. Reyn getscaptured by some webbing and you're temporarily solo.
Proceed S, turn SW and you'll enter LANDMARK Vilia Lake unlocked. A scene ofReyn being chased will play, and Shulk comments about being able to climb.Cross the lake and climb the vines. Wherever you're able to climb, an 'up/down'arrow icon will be displayed. On the top turn right and run down the corridor.Save your game! Shulk learns new art - Monado Shield.
Visions become important part of the gameplay now. During battle the party will
be able to see in advance the dangers that await. The Vision Tags showinformation about what will happen. Upper row consists of following tags:Attacker tag / Attack tag / Victim tag / Status tag. Lower row is a Time tag,with timer ticking down as the attack is about to be executed.
Color of the art name tells you what type of art will be used: white text aretalent arts, red text are physical arts, and blue text are ether arts.
Press B near another party member to warn them about future danger before itbecomes a reality. You must have at least 1 block in PG to do that. Warning aparty member will allow you to select an art for them to perform. They willauto-target the monster that attacked in the vision.
Warning another party member about the future and using their arts might changethe future. When the future changes, the vision tag is destroyed and a newfuture is born. Avoid danger by changing the future in your favor.
A monster's talent art can only be blocked using Shield. For this enemy, whenit uses Arachno Crush I talent art, do the following:- if leader is Shulk, activate Monado and use Shield to change the future- if leader is Reyn, tell Shulk to use Shield to change the future
The future will change if you Topple (time left until the future comes to passwill be extended) or Daze the opponent (time left will be extended and themonster will use a different art). Using CA will pause the timer, postponingthe future.
BOSS BATTLE - LV12 ARACHNO QUEEN, SOLDIER ARACHNO, CAPTAIN ARACHNO, ARACHNO PODGet rid of Soldiers and Captains first, and then focus on the Queen to smashher to bits.
After the battle you get Queen's Gut Fluid, which is used to dissolve a netblocking W tunnel. You can now set up skill links.

From entering the plain (unlocks Gaur Plain), keep walking E towards the rockformation to unlock LANDMARK Jabos Rock Rest Area. NE from here is a lake, andfurther E another one. That is Rho Oasis, and directly N of the oasis is atunnel leading to Tirkin Headquarters. Keep walking E and LANDMARK KamosGuidepost unlocks. At this moment to your N there will be a ledge above you.Follow the side of the ledge until you can go N to discover Sky Stage. From SkyStage you can get on the higher ledge above Kamos Guidepost.
E from Kamos Guidepost is a slope leading NE to Viliera Hill. NE from VilieraHill is the path leading to Daksha Shrine. Take Giants' Mirror from the altar,and then QUICKLY RUN AWAY! Then check SE corner and climb down to lower ledge.Follow the path thru the tunnel into the cave, avoid the hox and collectTwisted Gun. Proceed further S to unlock LANDMARK Observation Platform.
Return back to slope leading to Daksha Shrine and keep going E. You'll find agiant lake to your S soon, but don't jump down yet. Around here you'll findBatubatu - afterwards continue E and cross a series of platforms connected bybridges. Carefully steer between the high level Gogol to make it across. Onceyour progress E is blocked by a higher ledge, search along it for vinesallowing you to climb the ledge.
Still going E you'll have a choice of two paths - turn NE to enter Windy Cave.At 3waycross go E, and you'll reach a clearing with a stone pillar in themiddle. The pillar has a winding path around itself leading up to the exitblocked by rocks.
S from Windy Cave is a cave that has an UM along with four pods, so nothinginteresting in there. Venture NE from Windy Cave to reach Crevasse Waterfall.Follow the winding path until you reach two slopes - the one going down leadsto ether deposit, and the other leading up will unlock LANDMARK Zax Guidepost.
S from Zax Guidepost are several holes leading back to Windy Cave. Go as far Sas you can from Zax Guidepost to find Traveler's Rest, and nopon Gerugu.
Now, skip to Zax Guidepost and look on the map. SE of Zax Guidepost is a bigrock - go around it and go N until you reach the edge. Now turn E and keepgoing until you enter a rather long tunnel leading to LANDMARK Believer'sParadise. Jump off the cliff into water below and go S to discover KasharpaFalls. Pick up Kasharpa Water from behind the waterfall.
From Kasharpa Falls swim W to get on small patch of land connected by twobridges, and then cross the bridge to SE for LANDMARK Bask Cave Passage. Pathahead leads to Colony 6, but we don't wanna go there yet. Instead go E fromKasharpa Falls to discover Maguel Road.
To the E of Believer's Paradise you can find the stone pillar with winding patharound it I already mentioned before. Going there will unlock LANDMARK SpiralValley. Descend down Maguel Road and follow the road to LANDMARK Raguel BridgeN. Cross the bridge to unlock LANDMARK Raguel Bridge S.
Skip to Raguel Bridge N and jump into the lake below to unlock Raguel Lake.From here swim S as far as you can to find Tranquil Grotto.
Skip to Raguel Bridge S and now walk W, until you find a cave tunnel leading S.Enter it to unlock Kisk Cave. Exit the cave using the other tunnel to find anincline leading SE to a ledge overlooking Raguel Bridge S. Pick up BirdNecklace nearby, then return to W entrance into Kisk Cave.
Going SW will lead you to a camp, but you're not allowed to enter yet. Insteadventure further W, keeping along the S edge of the map. Quite soon you'll beable to go S again - doing so unlocks Vollf Lair.
Skip to Ragrinar Canyon Path and as soon as you enter Gaur Plain, turn S andkeep going. Near the ledge you can pick up Torn Paper. Whew, this concludes thetour of Bionis' Leg - head for your destination now. A scene plays in whichShulk and Reyn find a broken buggy, then Shulk gets a vision of person being indanger. Save your game and then hurry towards Rho Oasis.
Win the event battle VS 2x Berserk Ardun. After Juju (the boy you saved) tellsShulk and Reyn to come to the camp he's from. The camp is located S from KamosGuidepost. On your way you'll run into refugee with couple of quests for ya.

BOSS BATTLE - LV18 MECHON M71Shulk learn's new Monado art - Speed. For the first round damage it until itloses 50% of HP, then it escapes on upper level of the pillar. During secondround you can fully deplete its HPs and send it packing. Monado art Speedallows you to often avoid physical attacks.

This will be an extensive trip thru the area, so prepare yourself. Straightupon entering you unlock LANDMARK Drainage Tunnel. Go down the tunnel and climbthe stairs to unlock LANDMARK Drainage Control Room, as well as find a shopinside. Follow directions liberally for the moment.
Once you exit the control room, descend the stairs and go left to unlock TestPit 1. Left, forward and keep going until you get to LANDMARK Glowmoss Lake.Turn around and then veer left to unlock Test Pit 2. Right and forward thriceto unlock Test Pit 3. Save your game, then follow the path for event battle VSMechon M42, Mechon M53X and 2x Mechon M32X.
After the battle LANDMARK Mining Base is unlocked, as well as Storage Depot.Head S from Storage Depot to reach Central Terminal. What awaits ahead istwists and turns of tunnels - ultimately you should aim to go SE towards nextdestination, but you'll need to flip a switch first, so follow directionsliberally.
From Central Terminal follow the railtracks until you get to the point wherethey stop because the ground gave way. Turn right to unlock Test Pit 4, godownstairs and then turn around. You'll see six carts if you're in the rightspot. Go right, right again, and then forward to reach Observation Point. To SWis is depot access lever you need to operate to open storage depot gate.
Retrace back to the six carts I wrote above. Opposite of the stairs is anotherrailtrack. Turn left and follow tracks to now open storage depot gate. LANDMARKCentral Pit - Entrance unlocks at this point. Use the elevator to reach CentralPit - Level 1.
Walk to the metal bridge and cross it over to gigantic machine in the middle ofthe cave. Be careful not to be thrown off by the metal parts that are circlingaround the machine. Run clockwise to the other metal bridge, and turn N to

Save your game - warp to Personnel Lift 3 in Ether Mine, and use it to go down.Now you'll need to time your jumps on the metal platforms, going in counter-clockwise direction around the machine. At this moment you're on E side of thearea, and you need to get to W side. So from E side hop onto the platform toreach N side (kill Mechon M84 here), then do the same for W side (kills 2xMechon M84 here).
Go into the tunnel and follow it to yet another elevator. Are you prepared?Take the elevator down and steel yourself. BTW, large monsters can resist Breakarts (doesn't mean they're immune, though). However, these enemies generallycannot defend against Break arts used in CA.
BOSS BATTLE - LV25 XORDXord frequently summons Mechon M55 and Mechon M67 for assistance. Get rid ofthese pests to fill up PG, and then unleash CA on Xord, making sure to includeBreak arts. Battle concludes after you take off about 25% of Xord's HPs.
LANDMARK Central Pit - Base Level is unlocked, and you nab Gadolt's Rifle. Goup the slope and hop onto the elevator, thru the tunnel and upstairs. Now hoponto one of counter-clockwise metal platforms and jump off towards S to reachFreight Elevator. Try to operate the button... There's a waterfall on both left and right sides of the giant shrine. Swimtowards right waterfall and collect Statue Water near it.
Time for tourist trap, hehe. Go W from Sororal Statues to find Basin Cave.Follow the river, then go up short slope and cross the bridge to an altar withWhite Radiant. Back into the river, follow it W, jump down short waterfall andcontinue W to find Altar of Fate. There's an island with winding path around it- scale it to find Rainbow Radiant next to an altar.
Warp to Nopon Merchant Camp and go E until you come to an elevation, then goaround it, hop into the water and venture into dead for Zaldania Waterfall.Directly S from Zaldania Waterfall is Poison Swamp (don't loiter around toolong in poison-colored water as you take damage in regular intervals).
Warp to Nopon Merchant Camp and go S, then follow the curving slope along outeredge of the swamp to reach LANDMARK Crown Tree. To find Dark Swamp, you need togo S from Barren Moor - caution, Dark Swamp's waters are toxic! However, you'll
need to eat some damage while hopping between islands in Dark Swamp. On the S-most island you can nab Dull Radiant. Along SW edge of Dark Swamp is a slopeleading up to LANDMARK Shining Pond. Final memento of Cheryl's son is foundhere - collect Nicked Knife.
Go E from Dark Swamp and look for some vines along the cliffs. Climb up toreach Exile Fortress, turn left and collect Rear Door Key. Go directly S fromyour position to reach Igna Territory, and then nab Blue Radiant.

Upon entering you nab LANDMARK Makna Path, run thru the canyon until you get tothe precipice, turn right and keep going to LANDMARK Agni Tablet. Nearby arethree nopons - one has a shop, and one has some quests.
Behind Agni Tablet is a slope leading W - descend all the way to LANDMARKLakeside. From Lakeside swim S to unlock Great Makna Falls (it's also a goodidea to swim in SW from Lakeside until you spot Makna Water). Ahead of you isan island, which comes into play for some quests. Then follow the flow of theriver NE examining beaches on the left and right as you go.
On one of the beaches to the right you can nab Ancient Document. What's left isswimming to the end of the river for LANDMARK Seahorse Islet. Warp to AgniTablet and cross the bridge for Bridge One. Once on other side, walk undergiant log, and then turn right to be able to go SE up a slope ending at somebranches extending further. From these branches you can drop off to a ledgetowards S and walk thru two tunnel to reach LANDMARK Divine Sanctuary.
Back to Bridge One... head E to locate LANDMARK Waypoint Beacon, then venture Nand cross another wooden bridge to unlock Bridge Two (you're now on W side ofthe river) - examine around the rocks here to locate another piece of AncientDocument. Cross yet another wooden bridge further N to unlock Bridge Three (nowyou're on E side of the river).
A bit SE from Bridge Three you'll spot a pond below the waterfall. Kill offMakna Brog blocking an entrance to the cave - step into Sap Cave to collect 3xAlgora Sap, then continue toward destination marker.
Save your game, then warp to Lakeside, collect Water Ether Crystals...

Game now introduces Spike ability, a very annoying part of battle. Monsterswith Spike abilities auto-deal damage and/or inflict debuffs on party member incertain circumstances. Spike damage cannot be lessened by increasing defense,but it can reduced via Spike Defense gems. Spike can be prevented with Monado'sPurge.
There are three types of Spike ability.- Counter Spike - foe deals damage and/or inflict debuffs when attacked- Down Spike - Toppled foe deals damage and/or inflict debuffs when attacked- Close Spike - foe deals damage and/or inflict debuffs if chr gets too close
Some more tips... Counter Spike can be neutralized by inflicting Topple. Spikedamage taken is recognized by purple digits.
LANDMARK Nopon Arch is unlocked, and we're only halfway thru. Follow the dirtroad and after going under second giant log, a lake opens to your left. Go fora swim to unlock Eks Watering Hole (there's no landmarks or locations on W, Nor E side of Eks Watering Hole, but you're welcome to explore anyway). Ascendthe log which is jutting out from Eks Watering Hole towards S and keep going tofind LANDMARK Sparkling Pool.
Now, return to dirt road S from watering hole and trek along it towards E toreach LANDMARK Twisted Tree Gate. A wooden bridge extends from the ground to aplatform above the tree, so use it. There's a wide network of bridgesconnecting platforms, allowing you to ignore most enemies below on ground.Also, some of the areas in Makna Forest can only be reached by making use ofthese bridges.
By going SE from Twisted Tree Gate you reach another lake, Clear Waterfall.Jungle path further SE from Clear Waterfall unlocks Yellow Flower Grove.Continue going SE (careful of Deinos Sauros) to uncover Decayed Forest. Byschlepping W from Decayed Forest you unlock LANDMARK Glowmoss Trihenge.
Go a bit more W to find a river flowing from Clear Waterfall. Follow it S toreach Abyss Basin, and then go SE from here until you reach part of the mapresembling letter D. Go S around it to unlock Hode Lair, as well as reaching afence which is held in place by a bolt. Why not just shoot it away? Eh, wecan't open it yet.
Warp to Glowmoss Trihenge and go S to find Precipice Bridge... going N fromAbyss Basin will have you reach LANDMARK Windmill Pavilion. This is everythingwe can uncover at this moment - make due to destination marker for LANDMARK

From Sacred Altar go S to get LANDMARK Nopon Tower, and further S for LANDMARKEntry Bridge. Go W from Nopon Tower and down the slope to reach Reservoir, hopinto the water and search along E edge to find the tunnel leading toUnderground Store. Go as far E as you can to locate Nopon Kitchen. Go back toReservoir, turn N and go down short set of stairs. Search the ground leveldirectly below the bridge for red orb, that being Flower Bracelet.
Warp to Sacred Altar - to the E is armor shop. Take SE stairs to 1F to reachKyn Shopping Street (has weapon shop). Ascend to 2F to reach Orb Storage Leveland Pollen Orb Storehouse, the to 3F to reach Middle Housing Level, then to 4Fto reach Pollen Works Level. LANDMARK Riki's House and LANDMARK Pollen Workscan be located on 4F as well.
Still going up... on 5F you find Archaeology Level and Archaeology Center, 6Fis Top Housing Level with LANDMARK Chief's Residence, 7F has Mysterious
Sanctuary and LANDMARK Prophecy Hut, and 8F has Apex Lake as you go upstairsand LANDMARK Contemplation Terrace at the very top. This unlocks the whole map.Jump into the lake and swim SE to nab red orb Deinos Hook.

LANDMARK Latael Shore is unlocked upon entering. This is gonna be a hugeundertaking to cover the area - note that you can only get on a few islands inthe sea at this moment. For floating islands (and a couple of islands on thesea) you have to use teleporters, which are available later.
We shall start by swimming W from Latael Shore (keep N edge of the map to yourright) to the island you'll in the distance. Along N edge there'll be a beachwith some lv80+ enemies with nothing of interest. SW from this beach is anisland named Hode Refuge (contains Ancient Insignia door).
Swim SW from Hode Refuge to unlock Bionis' Occipital - this is not an island oranything, it appears as a tree on your map. Then, swimming as far S as you canfrom Hode Refuge leads you to LANDMARK Faras Cave. Continue by swimming E fromFaras Cave to reach next beach, Kromar Coast (contains Ancient Insignia door).
Still further E is another nameless beach, and NE from this beach is SecludedIsland. Going NE will lead you to a tunnel, which opens up into Anu Shore.Finally, S from Latael Shore is Sleeping Dragon Isle - and these are all on-sealocations. Warp to Latael Shore, walk a bit E and use the teleporter to warp toHovering Reef 1.
From Hovering Reef 1 you can teleport NE to Showdown Cliff (nothing of interestthere, though), and NW to Hovering Reef 2. From Hovering Reef 2 warp SW toHovering Reef 3, then from Hovering Reef 3 warp S to Hovering Reef 4.
Here is LANDMARK Syrath Lighthouse. From Hovering Reef 4 warp S to HoveringReef 5 (here's a hole from which you can drop to an island below, which cannotbe reached otherwise). From Hovering Reef 5 warp E to Hovering Reef 6, and fromHovering Reef 6 warp SE to Ether Crystal Deposit. These are all locations youcan unlock at the moment (W teleport on Hovering Reef 4 is busted currently).

From Hovering Reef 4 warp W to Hovering Reef 7 and from Hovering Reef 7 warp NWto reach LANDMARK Central Seal Island. From here warp S to Hovering Reef 8,from Hovering Reef 8 warp W to Hovering Reef 9 (this is another of the reefswith holes in the middle, allowing you to reach an island below). Warping E

Return to Central Seal Island and warp N to Hovering Reef 10, from HoveringReef 10 warp W to reach LANDMARK Ether Plant... from Hovering Reef 10 warp NEto reach LANDMARK Khatorl Seal Island. One more place left to go - warp toCenter Gate, go downstairs and below find another teleporter which warps you toLANDMARK High Entia Tomb. Going NE from Main Entrance leads to LANDMARK Fountain ofEternity and going SE from Main Entrance leads to LANDMARK Fountain of Hope.Directly E from Main Entrance you can find Merchant's Gift, and E from Fountainof Hope you can collect Health Amulet. Warp to Imperial Palace... now this israther hard for me to describe, but basically 1F area of Alcamoth map can bedivided in two regions - E side is Imperial Palace, and W side is Melfica Road.
Imperial Palace is easy to navigate, but Melfica Road is not so. So basicallyI'll mention four distinct map points on area map that we can go by when makingdirections: N pathway, NW chainbridge, SW chainbridge, S pathway. Here'salready an example - take N pathway to find Mother's Necklace. Another point ofinterest is station booth SW from NW chainbridge - you need some sort of secretpass to enter.

Proceed E into Hall of Spirits... approach the edge for a bridge to form. Inthe middle you have an event battle VS Nero Andos. Proceed E yet again intoHall of Trials, go down the slope on either side, cross the bridge, win eventbattle VS 2x Hover Astas... E one more time for LANDMARK Ceremony Hall (there'sAncient Insignia door here).
Control switches to Shulk's party! LANDMARK Tomb Robber Pool is unlocked.Explore the entire B1F floor, taking note of enemies that warp into existenceas you approach their spots. Basically, this part of B1F consists of eightrooms, three on N side, three on S side and two in the middle - the rooms areconnected by two corridors.
N, NW, SW, and S rooms are of no interest. Left center room is the landmark youdropped into from GF above, and right center room allows you to jump down onB2F. However, B2F can also be reached by taking the spiral path in NE and SErooms.
Drop to B2F any way you want, and tackle towards E for LANDMARK Valley ofEmperors. Cling to the nearby wall and shimmy over to SW bridge, then approachthe center.
BOSS BATTLE - LV36 ORLUGA RUFUS
NW and SE bridge don't lead anywhere, so cross NE bridge and shimmy over to Eexit. NOW PAY ATTENTION! In this corridor examine the second alcove to the Nfor a secret path leading to Second Treasury. Examine High Entia Treasure toreceive Summon Bolt (advanced version) and Ruby Glasses.
Return to the previous corridor and go E into LANDMARK Tower of Trials -Bridge. Enter the tower, and climb the NW wall up a level. Kill Orluga Rufus,and you have two climbable walls. S one leads down a level to a precipice... abridge should form here, but we don't have that ability right now (when youreturn here later with Melia in the party, you can get to the other side wherethere's a door with Ancient Insignia on it). Anyway, climb back up a level, andthen climb SE wall up a level (now on B1F).
Kill Orluga Rufus, and there's a climbable wall on N side, but it doesn't leadanywhere important. Instead ascend the path and at the top examine the controldevice to open up the door leading into Hall of Trials. Save your game andbanzai!
Go to Ascension Hall and warp to 2F, then talk to alcamoth guard. You get backto Whitewing Palace... schlepp back to Audience Chamber and use the warp in SEcorner to reach Revelation Hall. And for grand finale, use the warp in Nhallway of Great Hall to reach LANDMARK Imperial Villa. This completes alllocations and unlocks the entire map.
Melia now shows how she looks like without that stupid mask. Well, there comean intereference and Prison Island is our next target for dungeon sweeping.

I wonder if running around in a swimsuit in a snowy weather is bad? Not for myeyes, though. LANDMARK Zokhed Pass will ding upon entering. To your left is alittle camp with four nopons - one has a shop, and one has some quests.
This is gonna be very tough to explain, so I'll have to go with liberaldirections. Explorations will be done during daytime - the reason is that I'llbe mentioning which monsters you run into so that you know you're on correctroute, okay? With this, let's begin.
Basically, the upper level of the mountain has two major descent routes, "Nroute" and "S route". Both are descending towards NW, and eventually merge intoone at Bagnar Snowfield.
Descend the mountain using "N route", and on your right is a slope going up.Take it, and at 3waycross go left past two Monta Moramoras. At next 3waycrossgo straight ahead - now you have a choice of taking another slope going waydown or shimmy along the nearby wall. Take the wall to reach a clearingpopulated by Reef Nebulae.
A tunnel to the east will take you thru a cave and small wall scaling at theend to LANDMARK Befalgar Pedestal. Slide down the slope W from Befalgar andtake a left at 3waycross. Turn a hard right now and take another slope goingdown. Walk carefully so you don't fall off! I'll refer to this as "tight path".When you safely reach the bottom, observe your surroundings. Straight aheadtowards NW (it may not be evident) is another path you can climb. Of course, becareful you don't fall off. Someways into it Kana Peak unlocks. Now turn aroundand return to base of "tight path". Turn S to reach Nagul Waterfall with someSparas Paguls prowling around.
Warp back to Zokhed Pass and head NW down "N route" again, but this time ignore
the first slope on your right and take second one. It leads to a passageblocked by thick ice wall, and I'll refer to this as "ice barrier A".
Continue going down towards NW for another slope on your right, but wait amoment. There's a cave tunnel leading NE to Apis Lair, home to Reef Nebulae andthree types of Apis enemies. Return thru the cave tunnel, turn rightimmediately after exiting, then right and left. Go thru small stone arch untilyou come to 3waycross - take right path and go straight ahead at next 3waycrossto enter Valak Peak. Keep going to discover Bionis' Right Elbow. In this areaare Setor Eks, Monta Moramora and Apis foes.
Return to last 3waycross, take a right and emerge back into "N route". Thispart is occupied by various Chilkin foes. Now ascend the mountain by going SEand take first slope you come across on your right. Follow the path to theother side, and when you reach "S route" (enemies here are Monta Moramoras andEnt Antols), turn S and keep going toward large sword, stuck in the ground, toreach LANDMARK Mechonis Wound.
Going NW on "S route" from Mechonis Wound will take you to Bagnar Snowfield.Continue NW past Ent Antols and Entma Kings until you spot a cave entrance,leading N. Peek inside to unlock Chilkin Lair - foes here are Sierra Vangs andsome pods hatching enemies.
Emerge out of the cave on other side and press N to LANDMARK Hollow Bone. Lookto your left to find some Racti Lexos floating around. Go SW from Hollow Boneto find a small body of water. Turn left and look for crystals on your right.Behind one of them is a slope leading up to Url Crevasse. Up here you'll find abunch of Chilkins and some type of flower. Pick it up to obtain Pure IceFlower.
Now for some crazy climbing... return to base of "tight path" I referred tobefore. Straight ahead towards NW it may not be evident, but there's anotherpath you can climb. Of course, be careful you don't fall off.
W from Hollow Bone is a nopon researcher who will point you to the rightdirection. The cave tunnel ahead is actually an icy slope, but with a twist.You'll need to make two very hard jumps in order to reach a secret area. If youfail, you'll drop down into the water. First jump is easy to reset by warpingback to Hollow Bone. When you make it, you'll land in an icy tunnel andcontinue sliding. Save your game at this moment! Make the second jump to reachAntol Den.
Once you're done here, jump down into the water and exit W to LANDMARK NoponCamp. A shop and some quests await you.
Valak Mtn - Valak mountain research / COMPLETED!Location - Nopon campQuest giver - Nopon researcher, 10AMObjective - Warp to Befalgar Pedestal and examine the red "!". Now to reach the crappy Kana Peak... warp to Hollow Bone, turn left and climb the slope, then keep adjusting your camera until you see red "!" on the screen. Go W from Nopon Camp, and make 180 turn towards E as soon as you can to reach adead with thick ice wall - this will be "ice barrier B". Warp back to NoponCamp and go W to reach a body of water called Jakt Geyser. Hop into the geyserwhen it gushes and it'll propel you into the air and into another body ofwater. Jump back down into Jakt Geyser and go N to uncover LANDMARK Lava Cave. Now goS from Jakt Geyser (past Atomis Ansels, various types of Aries, and Chilkins)as far as you can. You'll find a cave guarded by three Chilkins. In this caveis a climbable wall leading to LANDMARK La Luz Church (Ancient Insignia here).
Return to Jakt Geyser and this time go W to our destination. At the base of thetower take the entrance to Sealed Tower. Once thru, LANDMARK Harict Chapelunlocks. Approach the frozen door...
Exit Sealed Tower and make a circle around it towards W, then walk under stonearch to exit into Ignia Hill. Roughly SW from Ignia Hill is LANDMARK NofolTower, further W is Great Glacier... you can't get to W-most exit due to storyreasons. Meeeh. Also, NE from Great Glacier is final thick ice wall, or "icebarrier C".
Warp to Lava Cave and enter its fiery depths. In the very back you have tofight Conflagrant Raxeal, who surrenders Magma Rock upon defeat. Warp back toHarict Chapel, and thaw the frozen entrance for some storyline...

Thawing off "ice barrier B" only leads to some ether deposit. Warp to ZokhedPass and go thaw off "ice barrier A", then walk thru the tunnel to reach SerikWaterfall. Veer left to enter Agul Mountain Range and slide down the icy pathto land on patch of snow between two icy portions. Now's a good time to saveyour game cos you need to make a very hard jump (kinda like Antol Den).
Run down the icy ramp and jump just before you fly off. While you're flyingthru the air, hold forward on left analog stick - if you're lucky, you'll clingon the climbable wall. Scale it and follow your nose to the peak for LANDMARKThree Sage Summit. Locate Ancient Giants' Door further NW and memorize this forway later in the game.

When I went around recruiting more migrants, I was able to send Berryjammy fromFrontier Village and Yura from Alcamoth. Then you can decide between Mefimefior Perrine from Colony 9 (you cannot send both!) - and then you can send Norarafrom Frontier Village. Doing this allows for more quests to be done.

Enter for LANDMARK Bionis' Thumb and walk down the slopes for LANDMARK SupplyConvoy. Shop for effective anti-Mechon weaponry, then talk to Dickson andselect "Tell Dickson about what happened". After Dickson and Alvis leave, youhave to make it all the way to the other side of Sword Valley, and it is aspaghetti trip worth mentioning. Various ramps and slopes you see along theroute only lead to dead ends and/or other parts of the valley with etherdeposits, or serve as a shortcut. Again, do not bother with collectables aseverything can be traded for later in the game.
Proceed W for LANDMARK Ged Fortress - enter the fort and operate "Gate lockrelease" button. Proceed W to 6th Gate and operate "6th gate access panel"nearby to open the gate. Dash SW to reach Gate 5, then check "5th gate accesspanel" to open the gate.
SW from 5th Gate is LANDMARK Dolgan Outpost. Approach it for a quest.
Near the bottom of circular ramp within Dolgan Outpost is another "Gate lockrelease" switch. Walk NW from Dolgan Outpost towards 4th Gate and open it via"4th gate access panel". Ahead is 3waycross - going NW leads to 3rd Gate, whichremains locked for the moment - instead go S to Ether Storage Area.
Turn W to reach LANDMARK Monado Wound, then return to Ether Storage Area and goN to find LANDMARK Enalda Control Base and a quest.

Go S thru Ether Inpup Stream and take the other corridor leading back up to anether deposit, and Safety Device Key. Return to Piston Control Room and examine"Safety-control device" to blow **** up. Other than making a mess of bothTurbine Rooms I can't find anything else of value.
Back to Ether Input Stream, and dash W to LANDMARK Ether Blast Furnace, andmore W into LANDMARK Preparation Bay. Board the lift and go down to FaceMaintenance Bay.

Shop till you drop, then let's play tourists for a while, okay? Walk slightly Nto unlock LANDMARK Junks, and then Ether Light nearby, then exit the village.From the entrance go SE to get to Radiocarpea Coast, then from the entrancewaltz S to LANDMARK Giant Mechon Debris. Digit 1 is located SSW from GiantMechon Debris, and Digit 1 Crevasse is located W from Giant Mechon Debris.
From Digit 1 Crevasse swim NW between metal walls, turn right and emerge on theDigit 5 beach. Swim a bit further SE to find a small incline towards S,allowing you to reach Ether Exhaust System. Return to Digit 5 Beach and walk Wto discover LANDMARK Black Wreckage. SW from here is LANDMARK ConnectingBridge, so cross it and then go S until you get to a ledge overlooking Digit 1Crevasse.
Go W now to uncover LANDMARK Digit 2 Plain, as well as Digit 2 further W. Notethat SE from Digit 2 you can find a climbable wall leading down (important forsome quests later). Climb either ramp, and you have a choice of a pipe going S,or climbable wall. Take the pipe to LANDMARK Rotating Bulkhead, and then returnto the climbable wall. On the very top you discover LANDMARK Distant Fingertip.
Warp to Digit 2 Plain, and jump into water N from Digit 2. Swim N a bit andlook for a pipe jutting out of water - ascend it to locate Digit 3. Going NWfrom Black Wreckage pops you Digit 4, and going N (need to swim a bit) nabs youDigit 5. This makes all locations known and unlocks the entire map. Warp toJunks and talk to Linada to move along.

B1F: The goo down here is bad for your health, so don't think about swimming.return to GF.
GF: Circle around the lift and take W path to reach 2nd Lift - GF.
1F: Upon arriving you land at 2nd Lift - 1F. Go S to locate LANDMARK 1F MainPower Switch, then operate "1F Master power panel" to activate two more panels.To reach "Cylinder activation panel", turn N, then right and ascend the smallramp bit ahead and stop. There's another small ramp ahead - this one leads to aclimbable ledge which leads to second Memory 925 Piece. Go back to the ramp,and turn S towards the panel we need to activate. Activate it to raise acylnder with circular path around it. Walk around the ledge and look down untilyou spot two fuel tanks - one is covered and one is open. Save your game, andthen jump off aiming to land in open fuel tank. Landing in the fuel nabsunlocks Spent Fuel Tank.
B1F: Warp back to 1F Main Power Switch, make way to the cylinder and ascend it
2F: Go N up a ramp to unlock 2F Observation Post. Descend the ramp and walk allthe way around the floor's linear path to 3rd Lift - 2F. Look for climbableledge nearby and climb down to 1F.
1F: Here you find 3rd Lift Engine Room, operate "3rd lift activation panel" andthe lift is a go.

1F: Climb back up to 2F.
2F: Call the lift and take it to 3F.

Go E to "Cylinder activationpanel" and activate that as well. Descend via circular path, go S, climb up thewall, cross a pipe and you end up in Ether Gear Store. Here you can collectthird Memory 925 Piece. Return to Bulkhead Controls and activate the panel tounlock bulkhead E from Lower Bulkhead Bridge.

3F: Go E from Lower Bulkhead Bridge to get outside, and follow your nose untilyou meet a machine. He advises waiting on the vent until the gust propels youup to 4F.
4F: Walk the linear path until you get to second vent, but don't use it yet. Goleft to unlock LANDMARK Great Battle Scar, and walk to the very edge where aslope is. Below you are two ledges on which you can land by sliding down, andon second ledge is fourth and final Memory 925 Piece. Warp back to Great BattleScar and use the vent to go even further up. Turn right and walk all the wayuntil you're at the top of the slope. Look below to find some ledges, and aimto land on first one. Save your game, and now aim for second one. Hey, there'sa path here! Climb the wall to discover LANDMARK Machina Refuge. A few questsare lying around here, as well as a shop.

4F: Now, climb either ledge up, go up the ramp, turn right, right, and thenleft to go down a lengthy ramp into LANDMARK 4F Main Power Switch. Use it topower up high-velocity lift.

3F: Turn right immediately, walk N a bit and there is a ledge with a bunch ofstoned Telethia. Drop onto it and collect Memory 903, then return to Judicial
District and go N to reach Worship Terrace. W from Worship Terrace is ShrineTransporter, and N from Worship Terrace is Legislative District.
Note - after completing all 14 quests from terminals, warp back to CentralTower, and address Capital control terminal to receive Cloister Key. Ascend to3F, unlock either observation door and walk outside to LANDMARK Seven SageCloister.
For the moment we're going to chill out in Colony 6. Warp there and upgradeHousing to lv4 and Commerce to lv4. Warp to Alcamoth now, and schlepp Jer'ellinto Colony 6. This will allow you to increase Colony 6' Nature to lv4.
Now warp back to Alcamoth and invite Don Argentis to Colony 6. From Colony 9you can invite Rosemary and Peppino. Some new quests unlock in Colony 6 now.

From Pars Sympathica Tower head S to unlock Venous Plexus, and 3waycross. Epath is a dead end, therefore continue S to get to another 3waycross. ContinueS again until you reach "S pool pillar". Continue W, and then turn left intoSecond Lung. Warp Back to Pars Sympathica Tower.
This time take NW path, and then right to reach "E pool pillar". Go S to4waycross, and pick SW path to "NW pool pillar". From here hike S to get toThird Lung Bronchus, which takes you to Third Lung (aside from enemies andcollectables nothing worth mentioning here).
Return to "NE pool pillar" and now head SW to LANDMARK Terminal Nerve Tower.From here its schmooth schailing over Aortic Pathway to upper level.

Warpto Vilia Lake and go N to discover another fresh path, which opens in a cavewith some Hanz Pods (just to give you an idea that you're on right path).Before taking obvious path further N, check in SE part of the cave behind therock to find a tunnel leading to 4waycross. Going S lead to upper level ofVilia Lake (NE side), going W leads into cave with UM, so go E instead, andthen forward to discover LANDMARK Bafalgar Tomb.

Walk along the Bone Corridor and then into a long tunnel, which eventually getsall covered in cobwebs. There will be two small slopes along sides of thetunnel you can take towards S. Inbetween these two slopes is a hole thru whichyou can jump, but leave that for later. Press on S to find LANDMARK HeavenlyWindow. Now go back to that hole and jump into it to discover Forgotten Cave.Warp back up to Heavenly Window, and check S cave to find Trader's Stopover.
Collect Trader's Spare Key, and continue SW into another cobweb-covered tunnel.Veer left into a smaller tunnel leading SW to find Arachno Feeding Lair (holein the middle takes you to Arachno Queen's Nest), and further S is Path ofAbsolution. Dropping down the ledge leads back to Vilia Lake. Now search behindthe waterfalls on S edge of Vilia to find the locked door, leading to EmergencyWarehouse.
