Otitis media information
Middle ear conditions are probably the most important relating to the upper respiratory tract, with 75% of all cases of acute otitis media (AOM) occurring in children under the age of 10 years
One in four children will have an episode of AOM at some time during the first 10 years of life with a peak incidence of diagnosis occurring between the ages of two and six years.
Around 80% of children had otitis media with effusion (glue ear) at least once before the age of four.
It is currently the most commonly diagnosed disease in the US.

Otitis media
An inflammation of the middle ear cleft, can occur with or without symptoms
Classified as acute otitis media (AOM) with symptoms, and otitis media with effusion (OME) without symptoms. which is a chronic disease.
The most common pathogens are Streptococcus pneumoniae, nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella branhamella, and viruses such as rhinovirus, adenovirus, etc.
The key test to diagnose otitis media is pneumatoscopy, since an immobile tympanic membrane correlates best with presence of an effusion.

Digitally Enhanced Video Otoscopy
The computerized Video Otoscope system has the ability to capture, view, and store images in NOAH patient database.
The system includes Intel-based computer, flat screen LCD monitor, a slim video camera that couples to a tapered 3mm probe, and a light box.
Sound waves
Sound travels in waves. You hear sound because waves hit your ear.
Sound waves are similar to ocean waves. They both have a certain frequency. The frequency is measured in hertz, which is one cycle per second.
People can hear sounds between 20 and 20,000 hertz.
