Xmas Wreath

MAKE THE LEAVES
For this project 17 large leaves were made. Use your discretion on the
quantity and size of the leaves you need for your project.
1
Hoop 1 layer of SULKY Tear-Easy lightweight
stabilizer and 2 layers of green organza in a
4 x 4 hoop.
Load the Large Leaf design into your machine.
Thread the top and bobbin with the same color
of Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Thread. (# 1051
Christmas Green)
Attach the hoop to the machine.
You will need:
Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Threads
Sulky Tear Easy (light weight)
11 ½” x 23” Green felt
Card board -11” square
Silver Ribbon – ½” x 3 yd.
Red organza ribbon – 2” x 1 yd.
1 – 8” Silver cord
5 x 7 hoop/ 4 x 4 hoop
Sharp, short-bladed, pointed scissors
Glue Gun
Glue Stick
Silver berries for embellishment
Golden beads
Green organza – 32” x 45”
Red Organza – 45” x 64”
White organza – 45” x 48”

Run the machine to embroider the leaves.

Remove the hoop from the machine and trim
away any loose threads from the back of the
leaf.
Unhoop.

Tear away the stabilizer.

Use sharp, short-bladed, pointed scissors to trim
away the organza from around all of the leaves,
being careful not to cut the satin stitching.

Melt away any remaining organza fibers with a
soldering iron or wood-burning tool.
MAKE THE POINSETTIA
For this project 10 red and 7 white Poinsettias were made.

Make the 1st layer.
Hoop 1 layer of Sulky Tear-Easy (lightweight)
stabilizer and 2 layers of red organza. Load the
Poinsettia small design into your machine.
Thread the top and bobbin with the same color
of Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Thread. (#1147
Christmas Red)
Attach the hoop to the machine.

Run machine to embroider the guideline of the
small Poinsettia. (you will need 10)

Continue to embroider the satin stitching.
Disengage the hoop from the machine.

Turn the hoop over and cut away any loose
threads from the back.
Unhoop.

Tear away stabilizer from the back of the
organza.

Use sharp, short-bladed, pointed scissors to trim
away the organza from around the Poinsettia
flower, being careful not to cut the satin
stitching.

Melt away any remaining organza fibers with a
soldering iron or wood-burning tool.

Make the 2nd
layer.
Hoop 1 layer of Sulky Tear-Easy (lightweight)
stabilizer and 2 layers of red organza. Load the
Poinsettia medium design into your machine.
Thread the top and bobbin with the same color
of Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Thread. (#1147
Christmas Red)
Attach the hoop to the machine.

Run machine to embroider the guideline of the
medium Poinsettia. (you will need 10)

Continue to embroider the satin stitching.
Disengage the hoop from the machine.

Turn the hoop over and cut away any loose

organza.

away the organza from around the Poinsettia

Make the 3rd
layer.
Hoop 1 layer of Sulky Tear-Easy (lightweight)
stabilizer and 2 layers of red organza. Load the
Poinsettia large design into your machine.
Thread the top and bobbin with the same color
of Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Thread. (#1147

Attach the hoop to the machine.

Run machine to embroider the guideline of the
large Poinsettia. (you will need 10)

Continue to embroider the satin stitching.
Disengage the hoop from the machine.

With the organza still in the hoop position the
2nd
layer (medium) as on the picture with a dab
of glue from a glue stick.

Now position the 1st layer (small Poinsettia) with
it’s petals alternating the petals of the second
layer. Use a dab of glue from the glue stick to
secure the 1st layer to the second.

Use a hand needle, with thread, to work the
beads to the centre of the flower through the
three layers to secure it to one another.

Tear away stabilizer from the back of the
organza.

Use sharp, short-bladed, pointed scissors to trim
away the organza from around the Poinsettia
flower, being careful not to cut the satin
stitching.

Melt away any remaining organza fibers with a
soldering iron or wood-burning tool.

The finished organza Poinsettia flower.
Make white Poinsettias too by following steps 7
through to 29. Use white organza.
Make the wreath

Cut a card board circle with outer diameter 11”
and inner diameter 5”. This will leave you with a
3” wide rim.
Cut two circles of green felt slightly larger than
the card board circle.
Use a glue gun to adhere the one felt circle to
one side of the card board circle.
Cut a piece of 8” silver cord; fold it double and
position it at the back of the card board circle
with the glue gun. Cover the back with the
remaining felt circle. Glue it in place. Be sure
that the edge is finished off smoothly.

Start to glue the leaves onto the wreath and
finish with the white and red Poinsettias placed
randomly onto the wreath. You can decorate the
wreath with a few small Christmas berries and
organza ribbons.
