TACTICAL HANDGUN SIGHTS

Ive got several sets of XS Sights on a number of my handguns. There are a number of things that I really do like about XS Sights, chiefly is the fact that theyre high visibility and I can acquire them quickly.

Having worked in the industry of rapid acquisition sighting systems and lasers, XS Sights are one of the fastest acquisition sights Ive ever dealt with. Not just quick acquisition but theyre also one of the most accurate sights Ive had on my weapons as well.

Low light is not the only place they come in their own, but it is one of the places they come into their own. Being able to pick up the big dot in a low light environment and align it quickly with the V on the rear sight is quick and easyyou dont even think about it.

Beyond the viability of the product alone, based on the design, XS Sights are some of the toughest sights that are out there.

Between one handed manipulations, down to officer manipulations, disadvantage manipulations being able to work these sights off of your duty gear off of any object thats around you they put up with an enormous amount of abuse, just very well built pieces of equipment.

The only problem with the shotgun is that it was originally designed as a hunting weapon with a pattern at 40 yards that was maybe 6-7 feet. What weve done is taken that weapon now and turned it into a close quarter combat weapon where 10 yards is huge, 10 feet is more like it. Which means you have to aim, and to aim you need sights. You want to look at your front sight and pick exactly where you want your pattern to go.XS Sights are a huge improvement theyve taken the little bead out of the way and put a front sight on you can actually look at and use to do accurate fire with. The progression from just the front sight is actually a set of sights, if youre going to slugs you actually need a rear and front sight.Have a sight that works have an XS sight. Being fast and accurate is 2/3 of the problem, the last 1/3 is to be trained how to do it.

AR-15/M-16 SIGHTS

Magnified optics are great at distance but can be a hindrance when engaging threats at close range. The addition of your new sights to a weapon allows the officer to have the best of both worlds. While testing these sights we had several instructors and officers engage targets at ranges from 7 yards to 50 yards and everyone was able to keep all rounds in the center of the target.

On semi auto pistols all we need is the slide and on those pistols that dont require machining something like a dovetail, the installation fee is about $40 + the sights + return S&H. If a dovetail or other machine work is required, those fees begin at $70 + the sights + return S&H. Shooting XS Ghost-Ring Sights The shooters eye will naturally center the top of the Front Post in the XS Ghost-Ring.

To accomplish this, the Shooter must visually focus on the front sight.

When the shooter focuses on the front sight the XS Ghost- Ring will become a FUZZY ghost-like image.

Even though the XS Ghost-Ring is fuzzy, the shooters eye still centers the front sight in the Ghost-Ring.

Zeroing Procedure

At 7 yards, fire a round group at the target with the sights aligned similar to that of a shooting a pistol.

Adjust the sights so that the rounds impact where your front sight is holding on the target.

Once zeroed at 7 yards, move back to 100 and fire 3 rounds at your target using the 6 oclock or center hold sight alignment using the PEEP sight. Adjust your sights accordingly to make sure your rounds hit where you want them to.

You start at seven yards and shoot it like a pistol sight to get a baseline zero and then confirm it at 100. It will cut your zero time in half.

Jeff Cooper: Why Express Sights are a Superior Defensive Sight

After considerable testing and discussion, we have concluded that the proper answer for a pistolero whose eyes have begun to go is not a pistol ghost-ring, but rather a pistol express sight.

The express sights, as you know, was pretty standard on the British heavy rifles of the Great Days. It consisted of a shallow V rear sight, mounted well forward on the barrels, in combination with an ample round head on the front. This sight was intended for very quick use on very dangerous animals at very close range, and it served its purpose well.

It was by no means a target sight, but was a superior defensive sight.

Consider then that a pistol is intended for very quick use at very close range against very dangerous targets.

The similarity is inescapable.

I am not content with the pistol ghost-ring, for a number of reasons, but the pistol express sight just may be the only important development in pistol sighting in modern times.
