Prerequisites & Setup

Prerequisite: Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers must already be installed (Luna or Mars releases).

Download, Install & Unpack the package archive on your local file system. Go to the Eclipse folder & run the executable Eclipse file. Specify a Workspace Directory. Open the workbench by clicking Workbench in the upper right-hand corner

Open the Eclipse IDE; in the main menu select Help - > Install New Software. Depending on your Eclipse version, enter one of the following URLs:

Eclipse Luna (4.4): http://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna Eclipse Mars (4.5): http://tools.hana.ondemand.com/mars

Select SAP HANA Tools (entire feature group); choose Next. If developing w/ SAPUI5, also install SAP HANA Cloud Platform Tools - > UI Development Toolkit

for HTML5 (Developer Edition): https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/#sapui5

On the following wizard page, choose Next. Confirm the license agreement. Select Finish to begin the installation. After installation, restart Eclipse.

One Trial SAP HANA Instance can be created per trial account. Equivalent to a database schema w/ the database property HANA XS.

Note: This tutorial explains working w/ SAP HANA trial instances that provide you w/ a shared database instance.

In a managed environment, using schemas instead of tenant databases. You will learn how to use the Connectivity Service when developing &

deploying an SAP HANA XS Trial environment application. This tutorial also illustrates how to create a simple SAP HANA XS application.

Written in server-side JavaScript, which uses connectivity service for Internet connection.




Prerequisite: To Create & Assign an XS Destination, a developed HANA XS application is also required.

If you already have an existing HANA XS application, proceed to creating an XS Destination file. If an XS application does not already exist, you must create one from scratch.

In this tutorial, an XS application will be created from scratch. Note: The subpackage that you will use later to create your XS destination and

XSJS files must be named connectivity.

From the email sent to your inbox, simply click the Click here to activate your account link.




Your account should now be successfully activated. Click Continue to proceed to the SAP HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit.




Click Log On to access the main SAP HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit.

Your Log On request will be accepted & you will enter the cockpit. New and relevant News & Announcements will be displayed upon login.

After reviewing the news & announcements content, click Close to continue.




The main SAP HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit is now displayed for use.
