But the modern wings will be replaced, creating 50 percent more usable space in about the same footprint. The new library will be fully accessible and have a dedi-cated wing for children and a special area for teens.
There will be several multi-media
equipped classrooms, and a large com-munity room for small conferences, perfor-mances, and meetings. It will also be one of the most energy efficient libraries in the country, with solar panels, a biomass heating system, and innovating adsorption cooling system, which uses 90 percent less electric-ity than conventional systems and emits no greenhouse gases.
Construction will begin in June and con-tinue for 14 to 18 months. During this time, the library will be in a temporary home at 1 Jaffrey Road, Unit #2. Generous donors, residents, and supporters have made this project possible. The final dollars for the project are still being raised.
