HGLC November 2016 Council Meeting Minutes Call to Order – Carol Conrad Devotions – Kim Troutman Approval of Reports:

Minutes – Motion to accept. Seconded. Motion Passed. Financial Secretary – Motion to accept. Seconded. Motion Passed. Treasurer – Motion to accept. Seconded. Amy to collapse the wages lines for Organist and Secretary. Motion Passed. Building Fund – No report. Pastor’s Report – Working with Amy and Sandra to move the money as agreed upon at the last meeting. Both accounts have more than

one additional signer. Suggestions for other signers in case something happens to the others on the accounts. Motion for Neil to be a signer on all church council administered accounts and will be used in cases of emergency so long as he chooses. Not contingent on Council membership. Seconded. Motion Passed. Motion to authorize Amy Kepley and Matt Smith as on-line administrators of MIF accounts. Seconded. Motion Passed. Pastor wants vacation between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Crisis Ministry Dinner on Fri-day. December 11 is Agape Christmas Caroling. Advent Services is coming up and need to start organizing meals. Worship on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Children’s Program on Friday 12/23. December 18, is the Cantata. LMiM 12/8 Christmas Dinner. 12/1 Synod Partners meeting. There will be a wedding is January 1, 2017. Motion to accept Pastor’s Report. Seconded. Motion Passed. Motion to have advent offerings go to the ELCA World Hunger Relief. Seconded. Motion Passed.

Correspondence: None

Committee Reports: Cemetery – Shed is down and hauled off. 2 Head stones found under shed investigating the situation. Evangelism – Nothing to report. Fellowship – Helping with Advent Wreath Making. Providing Soup Finance – See old business section. Parish Ed – Going well. 5-6 kids weekly and adults are plugging along. Property – Carolan is fixed. Projection system is now functioning. Camera is down and shipped off for repair. Request for Crepe Myrtle

trees to be planted where some of the cedars have been taken down. The only concern is where the sewer lines are. If the property committee thinks they can do it without interfering with the sewer lines than they should. Would like to have a scrolling marquee at the road. Food for thought.

Recreation – $500 paid in regard to the lawnmower. Report supposed to be passed on. Not received as of tonight. Do we need to keep the dumpster? We keep having an issue of it being full before its time to pick up. Someone to call waste management and find out the cost for a bimonthly pick up and/or the issues involving having a lock. Kara to follow up with Monica to get details for investiga-tion.

Scholarship – Nothing to report. Scouts – Garden construction project at hospital is complete. Some discussion about finding new scouts. All our current scouts will age

out this year. Not looking hopeful that we will have a scout troop to continue. All our current scouts are going to get through their Eagle level. Perhaps we should have celebration for our Scouts completion.

Social Ministry – Crisis Ministry meal 11/18/16. Kristal to follow up with school regarding the Angel Tree this year. Stewardship – Temple talks have been wonderful. Worship & Music – Advent services. Youth – Going to Houston in 2018. SiLLY had an enormously successful Halloween Party. Advent wreaths in November. Disney on Ice

12/2/16.

Unfinished Business: Budget: Line A Pastor’s Salary and Health insurance combined into one line item. Pastor’s Insurance has gone up due to birth of baby.

But it would still be $250 more for pastor alone than to continue to reimburse for Keri’s coverage from the hospital. Amy needs to fix the organist and secretary budget line items need to be combined with their corresponding tax lines. Grounds Maintenance = mow-ing, and breaks out under General Maintenance. Motion that this is the final budget. Seconded. Motion Passed.

Pastor investigating the bylaws. Suggests a General HGLC Endowment fund and this will be a catch for anyone making huge donations and can be marked as individual named funds inside that General Endowment Fund. Council is agreeable at this point with pursuing this avenue. Would need an Endowment Committee to manage the fund(s). This reduces the task of having to have different groups and hoops to maneuver through.

Stocks: 2 AT&T accounts. 2 Comcast accounts. Dividends from AT&T have been good. Do we liquidate or hold? Definitely from a man-agement point of view and combine them into 2 accounts instead of 4 accounts. Motion to combine from 4 to 2. Seconded. Motion Passed.

New Business:

December Senior News Minnie Conrad Holly Grove Senior Citizens met Wednesday, December 21st at Mt. Tabor’s Events Center with 22 members. Louise Lookabill provided delicious snacks and presented a program. She read the Christ-mas story from Luke. Louise brought lots of crafts that she has made. I think that she recycles or repurposes everything. She had mouse carolers made from bottles painted grey, scissors holders made from potholders and many more useful items. She gave several of her crafts for door prizes. Pastor Matt blessed our food and we enjoyed one of Daisy’s delicious meals.

Our next meeting will be on January 18th at 10:30 and all seniors in the community are in-

vited to join us.
