Somerville residents holding a Section 8or other kind of mobile voucher (MRVP,AHVP, etc.) can apply for incentive fundsto rent a unit in Somerville. Must be afirst time voucher lease up (exceptionsin limited circumstances). Landlords and realtors renting property in Somervilleto eligible tenants can receive theseincentive payments. Eligible propertiesmay not have deed restrictions or otherrental subsidies attached.

To be eligible for SomerVIP funds, tenants must be current Somerville residents leasing up Somerville units for the first time with a Section 8 or other mobile voucher (e.g., MRVP) issued by any housing authority. Lease-ups must be NEW lease-ups except in very limited circumstances. If you are applying to lease up in your current unit with a Section 8 or other mobile voucher, please explain the circumstances. Please read below to determine what documentation is required for a commitment of funds and for payment. Please note that a commitment of funds will not guarantee payments unless a signed lease and HAP contract are provided to SHC.
