Aluminium rims reduce the suspensions’ unsprung weightcompared to steel wheels of corresponding size. This makesit easy for the suspension and shock absorbers to ensurethat there is good contact between the wheels and the roadsurface. This makes for better road holding and greater drivingpleasure. However a smart design is not sufficient for analuminium rim to be approved as a genuine Volvo rim.– The material is important!An aluminium rim consists of several different metals mixed toprovide the correct properties. The slightest negligence wouldresult in a brittle wheel. The wheel rim would easily crackwhen in contact with kerbs or other similar obstacles resultingin a puncture.– Thermal dissipation propertiesThe rim must be well ventilated and have good heat dissipationproperties, suitable for all cars. Unsuitable combinations canoccur that endanger important safety functions such as thecooling of the brakes.– Anti-corrosion agentSeveral non-Volvo wheels do not have good protectionagainst corrosion, which means that they quickly lose theirattractiveness.Volvo aluminium wheels are painted with 3 layers and a clearvarnish as the outer layer. All wheels also have a chromedbase to increase protection against corrosion.– Centring on the hubMost non-Volvo wheels are compromised in design to suitnumerous cars. This means that very often they are centredagainst the wheel studs. This makes for poor centring andresults in imbalance. This together with wide tyres is a veryuncomfortable combination for the owner.Volvo aluminium wheels are centred on the hub with extremelysmall tolerances. In combination with small lateral run-out androundness tolerances, this ensures good wheel balance.

The chassis kit underline the dynamic appearance of the S40,V40 -99.The installation of the kit gives the car pin sharp handlingcharacteristics, exceptional performance, reduced roll andprovides customers, who appreciate a more sporty handlingcar, with even more driving pleasure.Only new, shorter springs need be ordered for cars with"sports" chassis as standard. Cars without the "sports" chassiskit must have a new shock absorber kit (front and rear),shorter springs ordered (front and rear) and a new anti-rollbar mounting kit.
