Youth Arts Jersey Where Creative Young People Come to Play

2014/15Youth Arts Jersey is a States operated Youth Service facility overseen and developed by a Charitable Advisory Group. The Centre prioritises creative opportunities for young people aged 12-18yrs but facilitates access to its resources for all members of the community. Our strap-line “Where Creative Young People Come to Play” engenders a lively, fun and ever-developing environment where everyone can experiences their creative skill whether as a performer, a technician or a member of our audience. Come play!

Membership – In order to access our facilities you must complete a Membership Application form. This assists us in collecting information on our users and enables you to keep bang up-to-date with essential information about events, offers and news. Membership to young people 18yrs and under is FREE. Members 19yrs+ are considered as “Associate Members” and can enjoy the same access to our facilities as our young members for as little as £15.00 annually. We organise termly open meetings for our members so you truly have a say in how things here work.

Rehearsal facilities – We have superb music rehearsal facilities across 3 fully-equipped music rooms. The rooms are also available for small dance/theatre groups wishing to have access to technical rehearsal facilities. Rehearsal rooms are open afternoons and evenings with preferential rates for young people and associate members. We also have an on-line booking availability calendar.

Recording Studio – We have a state-of-the-art unlimited track digital sound recording studio. Based around the Roland M400 and REAC technology system. The studio provides a range of recording environments, powerful personal monitoring systems, a wide range of

professional microphones and recording devices. Recording services are provided on application with privileged rates for young users & all services are provided using a young crew under the watchful eye and guidance of our experienced studio supervisor.

Radio Studio – “Radio Youth FM - RYFM” is available on-line 24/7 – simply Google “RYFM”. We’re always on the lookout for new DJ’s, presenters and journalists to develop our portfolio of youth-related programmes. RYFM is powered by JT.

Courses & Workshops – We provide a range of courses across all musical, performance and technical disciplines. Whether it’s your first experience in bands at

our popular “Rock Academy” or joining us on the technical tour bus for “Tech’ Tour Academy”, our in-at-the deep end “Gig Academy”, hanging out in the studio writing and recording music at “Song Academy”, taking

pic’s at “Film Academy” then you will enjoy support, expertise, fun and personal development like only we know how! We also run a range of workshops throughout

the term on matters such as: Dance, Drama, Visual Media, Percussion or simple music tech’ repairs.

Lessons – Our facility encompasses opportunities for the development of young tutors and all our tutors are drawn from the Jersey student population or university students living on the Island. Lessons can be provided in a variety of musical disciplines either on a one-to-one basis or as a group. Our lessons dovetail perfectly with our courses to help young people chart a path through their personal and creative skill development.

*Duplication and Print – We have professional CD/DVD duplication and print facilities for young people and community organisations looking to get their products out there. Our in-house design staff would also be happy to advise you on design and presentation of disk-based products. We also have a range of recording mediums that we can transfer information between – USB/DAT/CD/Minidisk/DVD/Cassette/Vinyl etc

*Equipment Hire – Supporting young musicians extends to offering preferential rates and access to great equipment. We supply loan and hire equipment to a wide range of groups, whether it be a guitar amp for a special gig or the complete backline for a band – we can provide.

*Events & Event Management – we provide 100s of live music slots throughout the year and whether it be the organisation and management of acoustic musicians for a community celebration or a fully crewed stage and major sound & lighting system for a private

function– we have the expertise and equipment. Using young crew learning the ropes overseen by experienced and qualified stage & sound staff we pride ourselves on facilitating community events to standards you would expect from commercial organisations. We maintain a database of bands, acoustic acts and performers and act as a hub for organisers, connecting young people with performance opportunities throughout the year.

Youth Arts Jersey is part of the States of Jersey Youth Service and as such is overseen by a professionally qualified Senior Youth Worker. All Youth Arts Jersey staff and volunteers are trained and experienced youth work staff and

have extended DBS clearance.

BOOKING & USAGE NOTESEquipment in our rehearsal rooms may change due to external events or during maintenance periods.

All attendees in rehearsal rooms must pay, including visitors.Equipment must not be moved between rooms.

We respectfully ask you to report all breakages and faults immediatelyNo alcohol or any other intoxicating substances are allowed on the site – in you or on you regardless of age!

Your payment is due at the commencement of your period of hire (or at the time of key collection for out of hours bookings)Neither microphones nor technical support are available at out-of-hours bookings

IMPORTANTRoom-booking non-attendance/cancellations with less than 24hrs notice – 18’s & Under = £10.00, 19yrs+ = £20.00 payable at your next booking. We reserve the

right to cancel ALL future bookings and/or refuse further bookings as a result of non-attendance or late cancellation.
