X. MIDI Channel Routing There are only 16 Channels available in MIDI, however two different groups of 16 can be used on the PSR9000/9000PRO, since it has two MIDI IN and OUT jacks ('MIDI A' and 'MIDI B'). The first group, Channels 1 - 16, is transmitted out the MIDI A OUT jack. The second group, Channels 17 - 32 (actually 1 - 16, but re-named to avoid confusion), is transmitted out the MIDI B OUT jack. Different sections of the keyboard (including different Song Tracks) can be routed to the MIDI OUT jacks by assigning them to the different Channels. This is done from the 'TRANSMIT' page of the 'MIDI' Menu. Song Tracks playing from disk automatically default to Channels 17 - 32. NOTE: When playing a section of the keyboard to transmit the data out the MIDI jacks, that section cannot be assigned to the same MIDI Channel twice: EXAMPLE: To assign the 'Right 1' section to Channel 17 (which actually transmits Channel 1 out the MIDI B OUT jack), the original Channel 1 (which transmits out the MIDI A jack) must be set to 'OFF'. Conversely, to assign the 'Right 1' section to Channel 1 (which transmits Channel 1 out the MIDI A OUT jack), Channel 17 (which transmits Channel 1 out the MIDI B OUT jack) must be set to 'OFF'.
