Key Facts on Yarmouk
Assistance provided:
Health: UNICEF provided the Palestinian
Red Crescent and UNRWA with enough health supplies for 10,000 people as well as 20 midwifery kits, enough to deliver 1,000 babies.
Food: UNICEF provided 2,000 food baskets for
IDP families. WFP plans to provide canned food enough for 50,000 families and is prioritizing Damascus and Rural Damascus with food distribution to meet rising needs.
Shelter: New shelters have been
opened, including one hosting 900 IDPs who
were in desperate need of aid. UNHCR and partners provided mattresses, blankets, hygiene items and plastic sheeting and some 224 families have received cash assistance. In Lebanon, UNRWA and the International Committee of the Red Crescent are among the partners distributing hygiene, bedding and kitchen kits to newly arrived Palestine refugees, of which hundreds arrived today alone.
