Dennis & I are proud and excited to offer you these 42 sound functional bulls today! These bulls must be able to perform in your ranch conditions. They are quiet as we pail feed their grain ration & spend time walking in the pen with them. We switched to a pellet ration this year (Bulls Eye Feeds) to provide a very consistent chelated mineral ration and we still provide free choice hay. We start these boys slowly after weaning and they pretty well max out at time of pictures. We gradually move them off of pellets and the majority of the bulls will be on a strictly forage ration by the time we deliver them to your yard; so in perfect condition to adjust to breeding on grass. We DNA parent verify, semen test and provide you with all the EPD information you are looking for. We also work hard at A.I. and herd bull selection, matching them carefully to our Mama cows. To our neighbors and friends who help with processing and cooking – a big Thank-You. We figure at least 20 people help get all the chores and jobs done throughout the year and for this purebred sale. BULL MANAGEMENTYarrow Creek Farm & RanchWe are now pre vaccinating and using Quiet Wean nose tags prior to weaning with fantastic results. Bulls were weaned on Aug 31, 2019 and gradually introduced to a oats & barley ration.We slowly introduce them to a pellet ration developed specifically for growing bulls from Bull’s Eye Feeds and at all times provide free choice hay and lots of straw. We are really happy with the development of the bulls on the pellet ration

The Fort Macleod Veterinary Clinic is pleased to provide

Veterinary services to Yarrow Creek Farm and Ranch. They

have a well-developed herd health program. All breeding

females receive an annual vaccination with the Express line

of vaccines ensuring some of the best protection against IBR,

BVD Type 1 and 2, BRSV and PI3 as well as a complete scour

vaccination protocol. Calves receive vaccinations at birth

(Inforce) and at weaning calves are properly vaccinated with

Pyramid 5 Presponse and a 7way Clostridial Somnus vaccine.

Breeding females are boosted prior to breeding with the

Express line of Vaccines. The herd receives routine deworming

and ectoparasite control. This year all Bulls entering the sale

will have received their second shot of Fusoguard to aid in

the reduction of Foot Rot. You can be confident that the Bulls

purchased from Yarrow Creek Angus come with a solid health

foundation. All cows and heifers receive Scour Bos annually

HERD HEALTH

The Fort Macleod Veterinary Clinic is happy to provide

veterinary service to Wes and Carolyn Gurney. We are

involved with all of Gurney’s operation including breeding

soundness evaluations. Currently all calves receive

vaccinations at birth (Inforce) and a 5 way viral modified

live vaccine with Pasteurella and a 7 way Clostridial

Somnus vaccine at weaning (Pyramid 5 with Presponse and

Fermicon 7). All bull calves have received treatment for both

ecto and endo-parasites. Bulls will also have received their

first dose of Fusoguard to aid in the prevention of foot rot.

BULL MANAGEMENTGurney Land & LivestockAll cows are run under commercial conditions, meaning the calves get no special treatment like creep feed and the cows are wintered on pasture. The bulls were weaned on September 13th and Herd Health protocol (below) was followed. Bulls are fed 1% of their body weight of pellet ration from Bullseye Feeds and a mix of 2nd and 3rd cut alfalfa silage.

We searched for a power bull and we found this Red U2 Unanimous son at Wheelers Stock Farm. He is an outcross bull with a black dam sired by the Canadian Show Bull of the year in 2011 DMM Creed 75W. The sire Red U2 Unanimous 113B was one of the high sellers at U2 ranch at $51,000. The sire Red WPRA Right Turn C521 was a bull Dave Longshore bought a semen package on after admiring the calving ease bull combined with awesome performance. Right Turn is co-owned between Triple S, Bar E-L, Welsh Prairie Red Angus, Janzen Red Angus and Allisons. So far the sons at our place and Allison’s birth weight are averaging 83 lbs on males and 77 lbs on heifers. But the real surprise is the performance. We were one of the first seedstock producers in Canada to use Redemption and boy am I glad we did. The females are unbelievable deep square moderate framed and with perfect udders. Well we came across one of our Redemption sons at a bull customer’s place that we were very very pleased how he had matured and filled out; so we purchased him back to bring a little bit more Redemption genetics into our herd. Red YCR Genesis should have been a heifer bull but sometimes it doesn’t work. Intrepid was a new A.I. sire we tried based on his awesome picture and from the well known Brown program in Texas. Solid big nutted Rickards Red son. We are always trying to improve our product for you the rancher. Many have asked for older bulls at sale time, so we tried something new to see how it would work. The result is 94F, the only long yearly on offer. He resembles his sire in almost every way. 94F has tremendous thickness, soundness of bone with good foot structure. Terms of Sale: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. No release of livestock will be given until satisfactory settlement has been made. We reserve the right to withhold animals from shipment for which payments have not been received prior to departure time.

Certificates of Registry: A certificate of registry will be duly transferred to the buyer by the breeder for each bull after complete and full payment has been made.

Cattle Inspection & Identification: CCIA tags will be in all bulls. All bulls will be available for inspection prior to the sale.

Fertility: All yearlings will be scrotal measured and palpated prior to the sale and all yearling purchases will be semen tested prior to delivery. All bulls will meet or exceed breed standards.

Breeding Guarantee: We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull, capable of passing a breeding soundness evaluation performed by a licensed veterinarian. In the unlikely event of any dispute, the regular terms and conditions that are standard with the Canadian Angus and Canadian Simmental Associations shall apply. Customer satisfaction is paramount to us.

Delivery of Bulls: We will offer free delivery within 200 km. of home; after that at cost. Delivery on the yearlings will commence early April unless prior arrangements have been made with the seller.

Post Sale Bull Development: We will winter your yearling bull purchases free of charge until April 1, 2020. After that, feed at cost of $3/head/day will be charged. All bulls returning to the consignors’ must be insured. All bulls will be housed at buyers’ risk, the consignors will not be responsible for any type of injury while the bulls are in their care.

Bull Insurance: Ownership risk to the purchaser commences when the Auctioneer’s gavel falls. Livestock coverage will be available at the clerk’s desk from our appointed representative on Sale Day.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of the buyers; neither the sale staff nor the owners assume any responsibility in this manner and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of an accident or loss of property.

Announcements: Any changes from information in this catalogue will be announced from the auction block. Such changes will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue and therefore buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to any such announcements.
